Jim Chapin had me doing this in 1968...He was ahead of everybody...I love this stuff...I'm on 65 years of drumming, and I teach all 40 rudiments...Look up Chet Doboe plating the Swiss triplets permitted 6 ways...Very challenging...Nice work.

Hey Rob, I enjoy your channel immensely. I’ve been playing professionally for about 45 years and teaching for about 30 or so. I currently have about 45 students but at one time I was up to 75. Way too many. I was a babbling idiot by the end of the week! Anyway, I’ve shown all my students this for years when I first introduce the Swiss Triplet. It blows them away. You can also show this with the opposite sticking. (Left flams) But you can take public credit for it since I don’t have a RUclips channel to prove it!! God Bless and keep up the great work you’re doing. All the best!

Love the laid back approach to how you instruct the playing. By the way, it's good to see that Carlock stick is still hangin in there.

It's just this kind of tips/analogies that expose the mastery of a teacher!!! Thanks for the great "transition challenge" warm up!!!! (JR-PORTUGAL)

Hi Rob, very cool exercise. Funny, I started doing this rudiment as an exercise (in an unorthodox way) by trying to figure out the shuffle pulse to Zeppelin’s Fool In The Rain. I didn’t even know I was doing this rudiment, or any rudiment at all, but the count was imprinted in my brain as “uh1&,uh2&,uh3&,uh4&”. I’m now correcting where the 1 properly belongs. So thanks for the lesson, and this exercise! Great videos. I’m binge watching.

That shuffle of the left hand makes the transition from Double Stroke to Triplet easy..Thanks Rob

Rob, first of all, I 'd like to thank you for your contribution to the drummin' community! Especially that Vinnie lick video was a KILLER!!!
As for the lesson-practice routine, you could also add alternate flams into the mix, which are also consisted of double strokes.
I practIce doubles-alt. flams-swiss triplets back and forth.
    Cheers from Athens, Greece!

I don’t remember where I got this from, but I’ve been doing this for years. It’s also fun to reverse it on the fly to from right to left hand lead, transitioning through inverted doubles, four-stroke ruff (LH and RH lead), and Swiss triplet sticking but using 1 &a as the rhythm. All these are displaced double strokes. It’s also really difficult, but interesting, to try to hold the transition at a spot somewhere between the doubles and the triplets.

Rob! This is the exact morph I used in my snare solo a few years ago! It's fun to take the swiss-triplet into floppies (alternating flams) as well. The three different rudiments flow very well together as your hands are playing the same pattern just at different times. Fun stuff!

Love ya bro, keep up the hard work and stay loose 🤗🥁☮️🔥💯✅Rikk

Wow great lesson Beatdown bro. Generally speaking i don't care about any rudiment but this is different because you are mixing 16s with triples keeping the simple but useful llrr sticking. COOL :) edit: don't tell me that Beatdown Bro dosn't sound great.

Great lesson! By all means put your name on it! But I suggest Rob Browns Swiss Triplet Morph. A name is ownership. A nickname gives way to question through time. If Moeller or Chapin had nicknames we probably wouldn't know who they really were. Credit where credit is due man, take it!

Thank you Rob! Swiss trips are so awesome! What about a follow up for advanced players with bass drum incorporated? Is there anything simpler and sweeter than a 4/4 pulse below with swiss trips running amok up high? I think not. :):):)
    Thanks again man.

Hey Rob, can you explain the grayed out L then the RRL which forms LRRL LRRL etc? When it's morphed it kind of sounds like something flamming but I can't match it to that sticking. Thanks

    • @crossmyass
      @crossmyass 6 лет назад

It should feel like a right lead triplet but with a left flam going into it. Between the R R and the 2nd L you should hear a clear even triplet. That's why it morphs into two doubles because you're basically just taking away the rush of the flam and making it into two pairs of doubles.

    Really like your channel bro!
But this time i kinda disliked the way you talk about that modulation from 16th to triplets.I just think that having that rhythmic change in your head before trying to make it happen in the sticks with some kinda trick is more "mental" and less "muscular", music is in our minds!!!!
Sorry bout my english, congrats from Brazil!

Hey Rob! I have been trying to get to you via Twitter, about the subtitles that I created for one of your videos. The thing is that you must approve them or they will not be publicly available. It would be a lot of wasted work if you don't give me a hand with that. Please check that out and see if you can do it. Thanks!
