I'm not going to lie... I subscribe to a lot of drum channels... But yours is by far the best at teaching in simple layman's terms that I can relate to and that is very useful to me. Drumming, although I have been in it for many many years, has always seemed like a mystery to me because I never had formal training. You make everything so simple, understandable and easily attainable. I love your attitude, your Manner and your laid-back Style. It's a pleasure to watch all of your videos and I am so glad that I found your Channel. Please keep up the great work and good luck in all of your endeavors, Rob!

Hey big Rob, yo man you are without doubt one if not the best drum instructor on the net. Currently I fly with Drumeo, working on level 4 as of this month. But, and this is a serious but, whenever I get bogged down with trying to interpret and learn from some of Drumeo’s professionals, I turn to your channel because this is where I go to learn whenever I get confused and I’m struggling to understand a lesson. And without fail you always set me straight. You have a rare gift. Thanks man, as always once again you made what seems difficult easy. Drummerman Steve.

I'm same. Playing 40 yrs. I always go back to the simplest exercises. Mainly cuz I suck and can't even do a completely clean single stroke but the simplest exercises allow me to do things like reinforce keeping time which lo e practicing singles dbls diddles ect. Most bands I'm in all they really want is for me to keep good time, playing volume is consistent, and have a coupla decent fills. So really, if I practice something like this a 6 stroke, with a metronome , my times better, dynamics better, and I can t hff row around a six stroke for fills, there ya go. Instant drummer. Now if I could just remember all the breaks n stops in the songs. Cheers

I have played the drums in various band and groups for over fifty years ( I am 72 ) with numerous lay offs due to work and family etc. I got back into playing four years ago when I retired, and practice every day now for at least two hours. During this time I studied with quite a few of the on - line instructors, some good and some not so good. Since I discovered Rob some months ago I have never looked back - on a different level altogether from all the rest ! I chose to comment on the 6 stroke roll lesson because this is one that always eluded me but now I am getting some really good speed and technique after following Robs lessons on a regular basis ! So thank you Rob and especially for improving my left hand speed in the traditional grip !

It seems you focus on instilling the feel behind the rudiment and work from there. I really like that. The character should always be behind the drumming in my opinion. I also saw some comments about not having formal education behind the drums, and I can relate greatly. Your videos definitely do come across on a level that’s easy to digest. Keep it up man!

Rob is just a superb instructor. Really without peer. Sad realization for an old guy like me who is just starting lessons that after hours and hours of working on this the fastest I will ever achieve is the speed he is showing at the very beginning-just showing the sticking and even that is a push. Not to mention the guys out in video land who do this at light speed where all you hear is the tick tick tick of the rolls.
A lot of fun to watch however, as gifted instructors, no matter what the field, are enjoyable to watch.

Rob I just have to say I've been creeping your videos for so long and never commented. I'm actually not really a person to comment much. Anyway, your videos are really fun and easy to follow. Through the years, my chops have improved, and my rudiments have become musical. Please keep your amazing attitude and good sense of humor. Also to note that you release these for free and actually offer something of value and not half an exercise that leads to a sale page for the other half. I'm a self-taught drummer, but I definitely consider you one of my teachers.

Man this is a great exercise. After doing your "The 3 rudiments you need" for about 3 months, I'm moving to this. Amazing how that muscle memory carried over and once I wrapped my brain around the sticking between the 2 variations I can do it pretty fast and have a good (and controlled) speed to build from. Just found your channel. Tried your bass drum tuning technique, loosening the resonance head made a big difference. Tightening the resonance head of my snare drums made a big difference in my Pearl Reference snare, not as much in my DW snare. And the six-stroke rudiment is a challenge, mostly to play it slowly and with discipline. You helped me. Thanks very much.

I started this morning with the same kind of sticking but emphasizing the right hand to play the ride cymbal jazz pattern. This changes everything becaus i placed the accents totally different. The way you approach this roll makes it a lot more easy to learn. Still scratching my head about using different accents and the ways of using this around the drum-kit. So looking forward to part two of this lesson. Thanks man this morning was my first attempt to play this type of thing and then you came along. At the right time and the right place.

Subscribed, but only because you’re one of the few guys I’ve seen that can get the rim shot indents on the sticks till the wood feathers and still not break em’. That’s how you know you’re a real badass!!!

Wow I see I'm not the only one but it was the way you just knocked out the diddles at first and just had me doing the motions, then boom I was like ohhhhhh! Vs. A linear weird feeling stiff rudiment...I finally understood the dynamics of it...man this is awsome I can't ty enough...lit a fire under me

Thanks for the simple breakdown of this! As a drummer with no lessons and wanting to learn rudiments to develop my chops and fills, this is great!

Hi Rob, I'm a experience drummer, a bit out of practice, however your method of teaching is great and you can really understand Rudiments and grooved etc with your help!
    Thankyou!.

Great lesson. I'm learning the 6 stroke roll now and using the Moeller technique.

As always, good, good stuff. Well and clearly presented. I've used the 6 stroke roll as a mainstay for years but never really turned it around and put the accents on the 'inside' of the pattern (you know what I mean).. I can tell already that these will become some of my favorite drills.

Digging the lessons. Especially the hands. Always need to work on the hands. And applying to the kit after getting it down. Thanks!! Great teacher! And get that Spang a Lang going!!

Matteo from Italy... Man, I was struggling to learn this rudiment with very bad results.. This thing of starting from the accents simply made all crystal clear! TOP!!!!
