  • Not much to say besides this is the best downhill I've ridden in Georgia. Too be fair, I've never ridden Bull Mountain / Jake Mountain ad I've heard that's pretty good too. Hope you enjoy!
    Trails in the video:
    Bear Creek Spur
    Bear Creek Loop
    Bear Creek / Pinhoti
    Pinhoti Trail
    Pinhoti Trail - Double Top

      Riding a hardtail single speed, I wrecked hard on the last half mile of P2 the last fall. Broke the rear axle, the tire pulled into the chain stays, and I got slapped to the ground. Managed to reposition the wheel and clamp it well enough to pedal out. I was a bloody mess rolling the gravel road back. I got some grimaced stares from a few hikers, lol. Be safe!

      BTW, that trail is no where near as well lit as it is in this video by early/mid summer.

      Definitely. Not sure if the creeks are typically that high or if they are usually "ride-through-able" lol. I usually walk through them anyway because I hate squeaky wet brakes

    Been wanting to get out there and take the shuttle all the way up for a long downhill decent.

    • @_Aitch_
      @_Aitch_  2 года назад

      It was so good. If you wanted to aviod the shuttle, you could also easily skip Bear Creek Spur, Bear Creek Loop, and Bear Creek / Pinhoti Trail and just do Pinhoti Trail and Pinhoti Trail - Double Top. This would bring the total miles to 13.4 from 21.6 and you still get the majority of the good stuff.

    Nice video. I just did this today and yesterday. Rpavsner was on point with his recommendation. I did P3 last November and it's just climbing. Best to get a shuttle up for that one. But you really can't get away from climbing here but it's so worth it for the fast 20+ MPH descents.

      For sure. This is just one of the best areas for riding in GA no doubt

    • @theakh4238

      Yep on p3. When I tired it last fall, it was littered with so many acorns, I was a bit nervous taking anything at speed. My ride was a steel single speed hardtail.

      100% agree with that take. "Disappointing" is strong word but I understand what you mean. Could totally get away with just doing Pinhoti stuff

    Nice video, but you missed a few things. 1) by not climbing to the top of Bear Creek you missed the overlook and the top "Spur" that has the most technical section. It is only about a 1/2 mile and a few turns with a chunky bit but you still missed it. 2). You got onto Bear Creek and stopped at the intersection of Pinhoti 1 (P1). You could have kept going down Bear about another 1/2 mile to the bottom trail head. There are some sections on that last little bit. Typically I ride it to the bottom then ride back up to the intersection of P1 and climb. Then once P1 is done you rode over to Pinhoti 2 (P2). After P2 when you hit that gravel road and head back to Mulberry Gap you have the option to ride Pinhoti 3 (P3) as an out and back. You can also give Mulberry Gap some money and have them shuttle you to the top of Bear or P3.

      @_Aitch_  2 года назад

      1) Dang if I'd known there was an overlook, I would've definitely gone all the way to the top. I love a good view!
      2) Was just following the route on Trailforks!
      3) I didn't even know there was a P3! Only ever heard about P1 and P2. That would've made for a very long ride for me and I may have died haha. Maybe I'll have to make a part 2!
      Thanks for the tips!

      Hey Robert! Over the last couple of months I have spent a lot of time on Trailforks making additions and corrections to my local trails. I highly recommend you do the same as it sounds you are extremely knowledgeable of these trails. You could definitely share some important information with people who are looking to travel to your area. I would recommend adding everything you've mentioned in this comment as a "route" on Trailforks so riders like OP and myself can use it as a guideline when we travel to your area.

      @@_Aitch_ Besides the overlook, if you take the gravel road down a little ways (the trail connects back to the gravel), you come down to a nice picnic spot with a waterfall. You can then climb the gravel back up, past where the trail came in, and on up to the overlook. And then up just a little more to the spur to start going down.
