- Erebus Ascent is a highly anticipated watch amongst the micro-brand space.
Jody and Steven asked me to photograph their new model for their website, so it gave me an opportunity to play around with all the different colour-ways and really get into the nitty gritty of the watch
Overall a very impressive offering at an impressive price point.

Thanks for watching.. - Хобби
I like these so much better than the last ones, the first Erubis issue never grabbed mw but these I really like.
Fingers crossed he manages to transfer the design language of this one to more designs.
Erebus is the brand.
Erebus Origin was the first model, the diver.
This is called the Erebus Ascent.
I agree with your opinion 👍 🍻
Edit: While I'm sharing... "O" style bracelet means Oyster style and "J" means Jubilee. I have no idea why they abbreviated the styles.
@@stevenkelby2169Rolex has a trademark on Jubilee and Oyster and will come after you if you try to sell a product using their terms. Marc from Long Island watch has a video about this from a ways back. Curiously enough NATO is also trademarked in respect to watch straps by some guy so Jody had to call his NATO straps “pass through military style” in his launch video.

This is the first time in which I wished that a brand offered a collection, or packet, of a particular watch. Like, I wish you could buy 3 or even 6, delivered in a watch roll or watch box (for the six). There are so many good options, and I think you could buy up to six without feeling like you had too many of the same watch. Astounding job Jody!
😂
That's a great idea! I'll take orange fume, purple helix, and white enamel please.
Thats swatch shit
What a great team, Steven and Jody have done well and then followed up with your photography and videography.
I feel that they hit this one out of the park with the price points, the solid build, great finishing and nice list of dial choices (that fumé orange looks absolutely stunning 🤩)
Lucky you for spending time with them.
Thanks for sharing.
It was fun, but also hard work photographing them and cleaning fingerprints dust etc...😊👍
@@PeterKotsa I can just imagine! The result is perfect 👍🏻
Like I mentioned on Jody's site, he build a watch that virtually aligns with everything I'd ask for in this style watch. My only niggle is printing Erebus under that beautifully applied logo on the dial. I think in this case, less would be more had they only used the logo. Short of that, I'm struggling picking just one, but that orange and the purple fume version is screaming to me. As always, an absolutely gorgeous video.
Yes the real question for me is orange or purple? I like the purple one with the spiral logo's on the face. Gives me Doctor strange vibes
Jody has done well 👍
So has Peter here!
Peter, thanks for an excellent review and chance to see these new watches up close. I love what Jody and Steven have done here. I usually prefer 36-38mm case size. I was hesitant to get a 39mm watch. But listening to you explain how and why it wears smaller, I'm less concerned about the size. I'm still struggling to pick which one to get though. And you were no help at at all with that! They all look great!
Perfect timing. I couldnt decide which one and this vid pops up
And my bet is you're just like me and still can't decide on one. 😄
I'm really drawn to the orange, personally
I´ll take the smoky orange one 🤗
Still love that intro music :)

This is unbelievable what he is delivering for this price. Jody already has the 3rd and 4th models designed and is planning ahead and they will be a success since he is critical of his own products just as he is with others
That white dial 🤤 I think I found my new daily wear watch.
i don’t have a white dial watch so i might have to get that one, but i really like that enamel blue as well. great review, thanks!
They did a really good job on this one.
Haven't been able to pin one down yet. Cheers!
The Watch Harvest must have been bountiful in Australia
this year ! Wow … a basket-full of treats .
Can’t go wrong with these Enamel Dial choices .
Your Photo’s on the website are outstanding Sir 🫡
I took notice of the repeating Erebus logo on the Helix Dial ; with one
centered nicely inside the applied split logo ….
An Easter Egg for the wearers for certain .
Erebus offering a “Full Suite “ of Wrist Candy to chose from … 😘
Hmmmm …. Vanilla for me .❤
I can't wait till September. I want two enamel dials right now - black and white! What a gorgeous design.
Why September? Is there a discount in September?
@@tacipotti7289 you have to pre order it now and it will be send to you in September
@@tacipotti7289That's when they will be delivered: September (or hopefully a little earlier).

That green helix dial on the O bracelet is absolutely killer.
That's the one I ordered! I think it looks so good.
@@inadequate1888 Nice choice! If I was looking for (another) everyday wearer, that would be hard to pass up. Enjoy!
Ya my favorite is probably the purple helix dial with the jubilee bracelet (hard to choose one) it gives me Doctor strange vibes lol
Thanks for the excellent photos. It really helps choose the dial one wants. I’ve narrowed it down to Blue Helix, Orange Fume, and White Enamel on the J Style with the White as the front runner so I’m happy to see some great shots of it. Thanks!
Thanks for the review PK!
Lovely
Lot of hard work all around. I will be supporting Erebus with my next watch purchase
Good looking watches, and very good specs for the 'numbers and gadgets' crowd. Congratulations to Jody and Mr. P, they hit the ball straight out of the park with this one.
Great video, thank you Peter. I enjoy my Wise AD8 a lot thanks to your video and this one help me to be sure abou Hylix dial👍 No I need to choose the right colour...
The case and those helix dials do it for me. Much nicer than the origin...
Looks superb. I ordered the mineral dial..!!
Really outstanding job by Jody this time, very pretty watches.
these are beautiful
Good looking watches.. i like the Blue Helix with Erebus logo etched in the dial. Great video and beautiful pictography as always Peter! - Hope you get to keep a couple ;)
Great video as usual, keep up the good work. This is a nice offering with some really thought out design over all. I really like though how you point out some pro and cons here.
Been waiting to see your review - cool to see it so early, and some nice shots in there, well done!
Very impressive.😊
Thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks for watching 👍
Ah excellent, good timing chief! 🙌...So happy you made this, I preordered the green fume helix dial variant last night. I feel vindicated after your video - I really look forward to September when I'll finally get to have a go!
Great price point especially in this introductory offer
Thanks Pete, very helpful review
Very welcome
Jody and Steven have a winner! If they had gone for the Miyota 9018, they could have made an even thinner watch, especially since they didn't use a display case back. I will say that naming their watch brand after the "offspring of Chaos" is an interesting choice, unless they were going after the "first ruler of the gods." One would think that there's a method to this madness!
Cheers Peter, I was waiting for your review before making a decision to buy. Green helix has just been pre-ordered. Thanks for an honest and insightful review :)
I was wondering why the photography on the site for this watch was so good! Some of these dials are amazing and I love the GS-style case shape.
👍
They look absolutely awesome - will definitely be on my wishlist
I think the purple dials are the masterstroke here. For those of us who already have similar-looking GADA watches, it sets the Ascent apart enough to justify a place in the ever-growing collections of many of us, I reckon.
Such a good look at these. Thanks for the video!
For once I wish there were fewer choices. Jody & Mr P have done a fantastic job on these, get so many things just right. Helpful review with some different angles and points. Confirms that the Jubilee would be the best choice for a good fit (for smaller wrists at least). I don't like the term on the fly adjuster, it should be considered a divers extension. I like normal micro adjusters but this looks nicely integrated at least better than the Citizen clasps etc. A white enamel on Jube would do me :P
I ordered the Aventurine but really love the Orange Fume too!
As always, an incredible video Pete! And by the way, I’m super glad you reviewed the green helix. Between that and the black enamel, they are pick of the bunch for me and so I think you’ve helped me narrow down my decision! 😂.
You did an outstanding photographing these watches Pete! When I was looking at the photos on their website, I was thinking damn these are nice shots! I bought the orange and purple fumes but could have easily also bought the green helix and avventurine as well. I had to show restraint but geez it was a hard choice! Loved your review as always
I absolutely love my Origin. No doubt this will be awesome. Cheers
I purchased a blue Origin and I have to say, the more I wear it the more I like it. This style of watch usually doesn't do it for me but damn... I like almost all of them. So now I'm patiently waiting for my Purple Helix model to arrive, and Jodi and Steven are getting even more of my money. Bastards! Watch 3 and 4 better not be this good.
Hahaha...
WOW these timepieces hit so much higher than the price point. I had to order the Aventurine and I’m looking forward to getting it on wrist.
Great watch and a real value for the money. My black helix dial is on order!
I like the style of this watch, I owned a GADA Sinn 556 blue , a very good watch but just to plain for me . This gets closer to what I want with a nice Seiko vibe but more interesting. I’ve ordered the blue helix.
Solid price and solid movement and a great case. I have a Doxa homage Aventurine watch and love those dials. That's my pick. The Helix dial does give of GS vibes.
White dial is lovely
stunning pictures as always Peter. won't be getting any as
This 2nd release from Erebus is more interesting to me. I'd probably go for the blue or black helix dial, but that Malachite is really something too. Then again, the blue enamel is sexy af. Not easy to choose!
Was deciding on bracelet, this helped, purple helix all the way.
I really like the white and orange dials. Going to have to keep my eyes on those two...
Exactly the two versions I ordered 👍
Great video and photography. I'll be pre-ordering very soon.
cheers
Went with the Purple Helix dial on the "J" band. Looking forward to September, if not sooner!
Great vid and if those are your shots on the website....really great job! Great price point!
👍
So happy to see microbrands are calling San Martin for their clasps. San Martin absolutely killed it with that adjustment system.
Just need half links for o style now
Best watch release of 2024. So far....but i dont think anything will surpass this in 2024. Value, quality, attention to detail, dial and bracelet options. It's a killer watch. Great review Peter. You're the man.
💪
Good review. If they offered the white dial with the helix engraving that would have been my choice. As it was, I ordered the white dial. I am anxious to get it in! Great vid. Keep at it!
i unapologetically enjoy clones. This is the first time i can truly say this is offering more or equal value than a clone for the same price range.
Great video Peter, realize I mostly like the white enamel dial.
You and me both!
But I also like the blue and Aventurine..hahaha
Very nice! You can tell these watches were designed by watch enthusiasts. I like the executive and the proportions of the handset. For me it would be the Aventurine on a j-style bracelet.
I couldn’t wait for this review
🙏
wow thanks
A great looking watch. I started now to notice that the counterbalance looks out of place a bit. It is the only rounded element. Everything else is angular (ignoring the logo).
Good point. There’s always some sort of design flaw. They’ll prob do a v2 of the Origin and Ascent next year to fix up all the issues
I like the look of the red/burgundy one. All very impressive though.
Ps great video, editing, photography as always and please don’t lose the intro music - love it!
What red one?
Thank you for your review. I have already ordered mine (orange fume) and will try to patiently wait for its arrival. I can't wait to show it off and explain what it is and where I got it. 🙂
Peter, a side by side review of this very nice Erebus and a Traska Commuter would be great.
Throw a Monta Noble in there.
Monta Noble is in a totally different league
@@thegorn I know. I have the anthracite dial. Still like comparisons between the different price points.
@@thegorn it is. So is a Formex Essence, which also is a good contender for the « best still affordable GADA watch ». A malachite Swiss vs Australia duel would be very informative too.
freaking W man. im in between jobs so to speak. wish i could snag one of these bad boys asap
looks better than any tudor ive ever seen if im being honest.
Very interesting comment about the protruding spring bars (around 7:00mins). A bit of a worry regarding buying before trying.
Thanks
Ordered the black helix.... can't wait 👌
Enjoy 👍
Very nice 😇👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks! I'm really struggling to decide which dial to order.
lovely watches! mostly i love the massive crown - perhaps a bit of too massive for this case, but…
i have pre-ordered the purple fumé with J style bracelet - hardly wit the september (fortunately i have an Erebus Origin as well 😀)
these a gorgeous !!!! the deep purple dial n vibrant blue for me !!!
I like these! I love Jody and want to support him, but the Origin wasn't my favorite - a bit generic tbh. I like these a lot better, and I'm probably gonna order one! I like the clasp too, it appears to be the same one that Traska uses (which I believe comes from San Martin), and it's been the best adjustable clasp I've used at this price point.
Phenomenal release. Could restructure the entire microbrand space.
I had to buy a purple dial helix, I was watching the launch and just fell for it.
Great review
cheers
I smell San Martin, Rmalti and Escapement time, well done in choosing factory.
Thank you for your nice review Peter, with duly noted gripes! They look really nice, but need some fixing before I'm ready to consider buying. Things protruding out of the end links is not good.
This is a home run for them. Outstanding quality , and features for the money. Really like that textured dial. The malachite looks nice also. Have a formex 39 with malachite. Stunning mineral dial. So, which do I buy?😊
So many choices. How can I decide on just one?
I want one. But which to choose? Your photos and video are superb!! Well done!! 👍
Thank you 🙏
Interesting comment about the quick release. Maybe it’s an issue with the lug design because CW’s C63 reviews don’t mention this and I own a quartz PRX and have no issues with this. Both are very slim watches so maybe lug/end-link design is what needs to change
they really did a splendid line up for a sequel watch after origin
I’m going to pick up the purple dial,
Very tempting. Thanks Jody, my wallet is trembling in fear. If you had made one in titanium with the rootbeer dial, you'd already have my cash!
Lot of great shots in this review and good thoughts. The 7mm tool-less micro adjustment works for me as I tend to wear my watches slightly loose so I should be able to make it work well. The Helix and aventurine dials aren't for me but that's the beauty of 12 options. Thankfully with multiple dial options and bracelet options I feel like getting 2 of these can be justified, the competitive price doesn't hurt. Ordered the malachite with the J bracelet and am on the fence between the black and blue enamel for the second option on the O bracelet. The Origin gave me Pelagos vibes even though I haven't ordered one yet and now this one gives me Rolex/Grand Seiko vibes without being an homage or direct copy.
Aqua Terra?
@@watches202 The indices for sure but the dial and size is different enough. Maybe the 38mm AquaTerra
Thanks Peter
Welcome 🙏
Think these will be a big hit, a GADA watch made by a genuine enthusiast, it seems very well thought out indeed and huge value for money. I can see a lot of Seiko Sarb 33/35 inspiration in there with the case profile and the handset, especially the needle style seconds hand. Very tempted with a black or white enamel dial one.
This is a very classy watch, they have got this one rite! I may even pull the trigger on one.
I chose & ordered the malachite version on the J style bracelet Peter! A beautiful range of watches definitely. As opposed to say the Dirty Dozen, these could be called the Drool Dozen!🤤🤩🤣
Ordered the same one!🤞
A lovely looking watch (brilliantly photographed here, I must say) - If there'd been an orange helix, I don't think I'd have delayed in ordering and I'm only doing so now because I've far more watches than I can regularly wear already. The Origin was nice enough, but rather predictable and, to my eye, too much like the Helm Vanuatu, so I wasn't tempted to one of those, but the Ascent is a watch I can easily see me buying if that Orange Helix ever appears.
I own the black dialed Erebus Origin. I'm totally thrilled with it and I wear it much more than my "Big Name" watches. The lume is one of my favorite features - lots of it on the markers and bezel that will last all night. One reviewer bemoaned the lack of polishing on the Origin, but that's another feature that I really appreciate. It's a great looking, no nonsense toll watch that doesn't need polished surfaces. It does exactly what a tool watch is supposed to do and it doe it superbly.
I wish there was a display back option, like some companys offer.
man, I orderd the purple and now I'm kind of wondering if I should have gotten the orange. They all look sooooo good!
I think it will be a purple helix for me. It is lovely in the photos. Thanks for such a wonderful job of showing us clear reasons for choosing to buy or miss.
You’re welcome 😊
Purple helix for me too. I wonder how popular the purples will be? It would be great if erebus did the same as Studio Underdog & published the pie-chart of the variants ordered.
reminds me a lot of omega.. nice watch
Fantastic review Peter! I wish I could afford two. I’ve gone for the Aventurine, but second choice would’ve been the white enamel!
Good choice!
