Great review Peter, it was brilliant to meet you both at Define thanks for taking the time to come back for a meet & greet, very much appreciated. It’s absolutely clear that the Dornbluth decision was the right one,the smile hasn’t faded! Good advice to all of us watch tragics about buying what speaks to you,it is a stunning time piece, well done.
Have had my Dornbluth & Sohn for about 3 years.... It is an incredible watch and completely unique to me and a watch that will never be sold whatever the circumstances. The experience of ordering and the personal touches are unlike anyone else, i still even get a Christmas card every year. I will definately be ordering from them again and as for videos like this I have mixed feelings - I wish them success but like it being a secret
@@PeterKotsa Is there some sort of special import tax on watches in Australia? or have prices gone up, I think I paid a bit over EUR 5K 10 years ago, been wearing it daily ever since
Stunning! As you say $13k AUD is a bargain for what it is. That money gets you a basic mass-produced luxury watch from omega or Rolex. Whereas this is next level craftsmanship, just doesn’t have the brand recognition. I genuinely feel Germany has the real enthusiast brands. I feel they always deliver more for your money. The only I would say is get that deployant off the strap so you can fully see that beautiful movement!
Blimey the way he was banging on I thought it was an expensive watch he's obviously tight the watch itself does nothing for me but we all like and appreciate different things. My wife purchased me a watch at Christmas knowing I was also 60 the timepiece she acquired for me was something very special Made on the isle of Mann to me it's perfection.
That watch is exactly what, if I had to put a lot of money on a timepiece, I would buy. It is exactly what I think a watch should be. Legible. Gorgeous dial. Leather strap. Elegant layout. Symmetry. Stunner.
I got my own cutom made Dornbluth 99.1 about 5 years ago, And last year me and my wife went down to visit Dornbluth, where Dirk show us arround. They where just so great and nice and they took so good care of us and gave us one in a lifetime experience, And just before we left Dirk sign my outer and iner box, that was a first for him.😅 Wear it in good health, It still love mine and it is a 100% true keeper.❤

I live in Germany and i know the brand. It is an outstanding manufacture and you can personalize the watch almost in everything. They have also a new manufacture caliber. Great choice u have done. Waiting list is more than a year!
Your choice is completely understandable. Yes, you don't need it. But you have the right reasons for buying this absolute beauty. And the looks are not the most important side of this watch. The craftsmanship is. And it is absolutely wonderfully made. Great video.
Gosh, Peter. I’ve wanted a Dornbluth for years. I have to say, this one just checks ALL the boxes doesn’t it? That dial, that case, that movement and that in house craftsmanship. You have to have the right wrist to handle it (and you do) but beyond that, it’s darn near perfection. Congrats, brother and enjoy. Also, your wife…😎👍🏼
My 99.1 arrived last month after a 16 month wait. It is mesmerizing. It is a timepiece that wants to be handled as much as worn. And the box with its display cutout is another work of sublime craftsmanship. Imagine if anOrdain and Dornbluth did a collaboration. Of course, the waitlist would be about 10 years. 😕
Mate this one is an absolute beauty. Seeing it in person was incredible. The takeaway from this video is that a love story with any watch, including this one, can come to an end, however when you meet a woman like yours, she’s a definite keeper!
Agree with you Peter. I bought Muhle Glashuette watch from Define watches in 2011. Visited shop in Noosa recently. Excellent team and great service. Congratulations.
One of my absolute favorite brands. I should have picked one up before people began to realize just how good they are. Such a stunning watch, congrats.
I'm so happy for you. I often find myself convincing why I don't need a certain watch, I can buy it, but it may not be logical to spend that much on it. I've been torturing myself by buying homages to scratch the itch. Now that I think about it, the amount of money I've spent on microbrands is like 80% of the watch I wanted. Thank you for sharing this story.
Such a pleasure watching this review, Mr Kotsa. I'm not in a position that would justify purchasing a watch like this (now at least) but I appreciate how the appeal for you is in the care and precision required in it's manufacture. Plus that's a brilliant color!
The intro as a tribute your wife is superb. Many people would say it’s a thanks for allowing such a high expense, but we know you, and we believe you have a brillant wife ❤️ Great review and story Peter! Greetings from Italy, from Officine Tecniche.

I also have lots of budget pocket knives, and I keep hoping that one day this feeling will go away and leave me alone! That is indeed a beautiful piece and I can see why you bought it, and you were right to do so. You would have never been happy if you hadn't.

Great story on a very special time piece. Peter and Lydia are truly delightful to deal with. I would love to see you do a video about their back story on how they started Define watches. Their contribution to showcasing German watches to the Australian market cannot be for granted. For me German watch making history Is one of the most Important in the History of Horology
Now, how many times have I bought what I didn’t want to save money and to not disappoint my wife. I just had talk with her and she was surprised my my statement and agreed with you as long as it doesn’t impact the most important things in life of course. Thank you for sharing this love story, Peter. I’m not a big fan of this particular watch itself (I am a big fan of their craftsmanship though). You always inspire me.
Peter, you are blessed indeed. A love story such as this reminds one to appreciate who and what they have in their life, and to go for the opportunities that present themselves. Having the support and encouragement of a loving partner certainly makes the last bit that much easier, and enjoyable 😊 Wear your new love and enjoy the company of your loving wife in good health; and here’s to even more blessings for you and yours this year!
Bought my Dornbluth Regulator from Peter at Define watches. Highly recommend Peter and Define, LOVE my Dornbluth!!! Beautiful watch, congratulations! As you and @danemehring said, having our wives involved makes this hobby all the sweeter.
Lovely watch. Truly something special. The guys at define watches are fantastic with a well curated selection of watches. I visited last year and I am looking forward to purchasing something special from them.
Your watch is a true work of art. Congratulations to you and your wife on acquiring it. Its obviously brought you two closer. And its wonderful to imagine the people whose hands created it knowing through your video that their combined dedication and expert craftsmanship has has this additional effect on its owners. Your watch and the story behind it even brightens my day and has inspired me to just do better. Its so much more that a watch!
Beautiful. I appreciate this incredible time piece and your story in buying it. I was also humbled when looking at some incredible timepieces and my wife recognised how incredibly happy a particular watch made me - she bought it for me. And it was on her birthday! Enjoy your new love👍
Hi Pete, Some of us are lucky, just recently I was longingly looking at a watch that had a tiffany blue dial, and God know I do not need another watch, however my wife saw and understood the look in my eyes and prompted me to order the same online, the watch is made by a well know Indian company-HMT who despite being officially shut makes small batches of incredible value for money watches...however the point I am trying to make is the same that you keep talking about and following...buy what you like and buy what you will wear.....cheers mate.....lovely purchase......enjoy the wear......really beautiful watch
So finally, who's this watch for? There is only one answer possible: for you, Peter. This watch is (just) for you. I love your enthusiasm and deeply professed love for this piece. Whatever I have to say about it is inconsequential. I trust your judgement that it is as good as it is, because your experience throghout the ranks of watches is considerable. I also think it is clear this brand is not upsetting the order with some fanciful lofty pricing strategy. Yes, it is expensive, but it is also quite clear what you pay for. Do I like this watch? Sure, I like it. That dial texture and colour especially are very appealing to my eyes. Yet, at least on screen, I don't feel that deeper connection and that is just fine. I hope it'll keep generating happy feelings for years to come.
Wow, that's a stunning watch! Stoked for you, Pete, that you get to own and love such a beautiful piece with such a great back story. And... pretty awesome that your wife is willing to back your watch collection!
I own 24x 649x-es in various finishes, grades, some with custom decoration work. Dornbluth to me is the closest thing to a Lange that one can get, in 649x format, with their custom work. That dial is fabulous too. Wear it in good health, and treasure the wife every single day !
Hi Peter, thanks for sharing. It's a beautiful handmade watch, so there isn't going to be another one that is exactly the same. Love all the craftsmanship that has gone into making it. It cost a lot of money but isn't expensive considering what you have to pay for some well-known luxury brands. Enjoy.
Congratulations, Pete! I've been salivating over the D&S Quintus for some years. Notwithstanding the beautiful handcrafted workmanship, it is a quantum leap in price. If price wasn't an object, I'd get a D&S over a PP any day. Enjoy your D&S 99!
Never knew Dornbluth had a blue dial option...very nice. I might prefer it over the white dial when I get one. Hope they have this color option for the 31mm.
Congratulation on the new purchase. A fantastic soul mate that supports your hobby. Peter from Define if amazing too. My Hanhart EIS 417 main second hand stuck at the 5 min position and shipped back to their service centre and got it back like brand new again.
Love the watch and review. I discover so many new brands thru your channel. Thanks for educating us. My wife and I were in Switzerland a year ago for our 30th anniversary and she said the exact same thing to me. You came here to get an authentic Swiss watch from Switzerland. Why are debating the price between a watch you like and a watch you love. She said the price difference between the lesser priced watch I kind of liked and the more expensive watch I really liked is the actual price of the watch, your happiness, and piece of mind. The difference was $1100. She said the watch you really want costs $1100 not $3500 because you are going to spend money on a watch no matter what so don't waste it. Wives are infinitely smart and wonderful.
Simplistic beauty. What an attractive watch. Even the strap is an excellent choice and color for this timepiece. The display case back showing that gorgeous movement just adds to the eye candy of this horological marvel. I can see why you couldn't get the thought of this watch out of your head and I am very happy you got it. Thank you for showing us your grail watch. After seeing this, my grail has been put on hold. I think I need to explore a little deeper.
An absolutely stunning piece Peter. I'm thrilled that it worked out for you. I'm not sure I could appreciate another commercial timepiece after owning something like that. All the best mate ❤
Congratulations, Pete. It is such a beautiful piece with an incredible story, legacy, and tradition. Also, God bless you and your wife for the beautiful and loving marriage you both share. Having such a wonderful wife is indeed a blessing, one Im also fortunate to have. All the best, my friend.
@PeterKotsa Thank you so much Pete, I really appreciate your kind message. One day at a time here, but doing a little better. Take good care and have a wonderful week.
Greetings to all and my sincere respects to your wife, this passion for watchmaking is not always understood. My basic collection consists of 8 watches of which 4 are German (Tutima, Sinn, Nomos, Glashutte (former R.D.A)), and many watches have passed through my hands but German watchmaking from my point of view after the fall of the wall is on another level. Congratulations
The blue on that watch is outstanding. Someday I might have to get one for myself. Thank you very much for the review and telling us about this outstanding company. I hope you enjoy that watch for many many years.
That’s a real stunner you’ve got yourself Mr. Kotsa! It seems to me you’re pretty lucky to have one. Enjoy the watch! From what I’ve heard those Dornbluths are incredible. Cheers!🥂
Great review, wonderful and excellent watch. I am from Germany and like Dornblüth watches even though I do not own one. Perhaps one day I can visit the manufacturer. I like the people in eastern Germany. Most of them have a great character and are very down to earth. Enjoy your Dornblüth masterpiece.
Such a sweet love story you shared of you and your......wife ❤ That's a lifetime keeper, for sure. 😊 The watch is a beauty, especially with the story behind them. Sure we will seeing it in your SOTC in yeras to come. This put a smile on my face for Sunday morning.
A thing of beauty that happens to be a watch. Few views through the caseback are that good in my eyes to want to have a reverso case but this one would be great to spin and sit and admire the movement.
Great video Peter. I’ve bought a few watches from Peter at Define and had my share of lust for the Dornbluths. Your selection was perfect and that dial is superb. Despite living in Brisbane I’ve yet to get up to visit the shop at Noosa. That’s probably saved me a lot! Your wife sounds great.
How good are Peter and Lydia at Define watches. I purchased a couple of pieces last month (Hanhart & Muhle Glasshute) whilst there. Really enjoy your channel Peter. It’s nice to know there are others with this watch ‘sickness’. If I ever see you in person around Melbourne I’ll be sure to say hi. Keep up the great work.
Peter you have great taste that is a lovely piece. You're right that is a bargain all things considered. Hand made, looks like that...honestly i thought it was gonna be almost triple the price.
Artem Straps, should be in the description section of this video I used this: artemstraps.com.au/products/loop-less-sand-beige-sailcloth-watch-strap-with-white-stitching?variant=40122252296227 I also used this: artemstraps.com.au/products/hydroflex-sand-beige-hybrid-fkm-watch-strap-with-sand-stitching?variant=40612863639587
I am happy for you, that is a stunning watch with a great back story. Hope you enjoy looking at it for years to come. And thanks for the education, I had not heard of this watch maker before.
OMG, this brand IS some kind of Graal for so many ... What a cleaver and beautiful choice! I think I don't have to tell you to enjoy this watch, I'm sure you do, and you will continue to for years. 👍👏
You know it's love when you change the PK logo for the video 🙂 Beautiful piece and I think a great replacement for the Sinn. Have to admit my partner might moan about it every time I get a new watch but she was normally the one that convinces me to buy them and to be honest her taste is probably better than mine. So it's great to have someone who supports our 'hobby' 🙂
I've been to Define Watches as well. A magical place! The great watches are a little out of my price range but who knows, one day, maybe. Thanks for your story. By the way, my wife would also have no issues with me buying any watch I set my heart on.
Wonderful video! These watches are gorgeous. You don't wear them because you want to show off, but because you appreciate the craftsmanship. A watch for connoisseurs. I have one of Dornblüth's very early watches (number 13) and am delighted every time I wear it. I can't understand people who spend a lot more money on a mass-produced Rolex.
My wife told me the same thing while on our cruise to Alaska! I share the excitement when your dearest one gives you the green light to make a watch purchase. I ended up choosing a 42 mm Longines Legend Diver on the mesh bracelet. Cheers!

It cost a lot of money but isn't expensive considering what you have to pay for some well-known luxury brands. Enjoy.
Peter, that’s a stunner. Nothing like handmade German craft and ship. Beautiful.
Dang, that's a gorgeous watch! Really enjoyed the whole video, especially getting to hear the whole journey you went on to get to it.
Thank you Dave and also thanks for taking the time to watch the video brother..appreciated 🙏
Great video. It really is a lovely watch and I would love it too. I know you'll enjoy it for years.
One day it might happen Tony, I know the Quintus is expensive but you never know what the future holds ...cheers brother
I’ve only found your Channel just now. Congratulations on the purchase. Such a beautiful watch and a beautiful story. Thank you PK.
Thanks and welcome
Never knew Dornbluth had a blue dial option...very nice. I might prefer it over the white dial when I get one. Hope they have this color option for the 31mm.
Congratulation on the new purchase.
A fantastic soul mate that supports your hobby.
Peter from Define if amazing too.
My Hanhart EIS 417 main second hand stuck at the 5 min position and shipped back to their service centre and got it back like brand new again.
Their customer service is on a Top level..thanks for sharing
Find something that speaks to you personally and Im sure you'll be very happy 👍
An absolutely stunning piece Peter. I'm thrilled that it worked out for you. I'm not sure I could appreciate another commercial timepiece after owning something like that. All the best mate ❤
Theres always room for another commercial piece...as long as its well made and tugs at the heart..why not 😊👍
Moral of the Lesson: Its a blessing to have a partner who understands you!
What a fantastic timepiece! You’ve got me convinced I need this!
I am so excited for you, Peter, they're truly spectacular. Congrats and thanks for sharing this!
Thanks Rafa, hope your doing well brother
And from what I can tell you too have a beautiful wife and family 🙏
God bless you bro
@PeterKotsa Thank you so much Pete, I really appreciate your kind message. One day at a time here, but doing a little better. Take good care and have a wonderful week.
Awesome watch Pete. It looks absolutely amazing.
Cheers JC..
the subtle ocean blue color of it, the beautiful elegence of it. oh my god, it even has spade hands
Seeing your face out there Pete! Good on ya!
Great story!
This one will stay with you forever that is for sure!
Thanks for sharing Peter. Have a great Easter Weekend.
Thanks, you too brother
Great, just great. Now there is ANOTHER watch I lust after!
Congrats Pete! I have to agree with your wife on this one. And it looks fantastic on that sailcloth strap!
I think so too! 👍
Cheers!🥂
Thank you kindly
Great review, wonderful and excellent watch. I am from Germany and like Dornblüth watches even though I do not own one. Perhaps one day I can visit the manufacturer. I like the people in eastern Germany. Most of them have a great character and are very down to earth. Enjoy your Dornblüth masterpiece.
Such a sweet love story you shared of you and your......wife ❤ That's a lifetime keeper, for sure. 😊
The watch is a beauty, especially with the story behind them. Sure we will seeing it in your SOTC in yeras to come.
This put a smile on my face for Sunday morning.
Good choice! Loved Dornbluth for years.
A thing of beauty that happens to be a watch. Few views through the caseback are that good in my eyes to want to have a reverso case but this one would be great to spin and sit and admire the movement.
Your wife loves & understands you. You're a blessed man.
He's a very lucky man
Arguably, the best video you’ve posted so far! Great love story!
Wow, thank you!..I enjoyed making this one for sure..👍
This company is so underrated. My buddy got one over 20 years ago on a trip to Germany right from them. I always loved looking at it.
Once again, an absolutely beautiful piece of video of a watch that screams "simple elegance" and quality. Absolutely gorgeous piece. Enjoy it.
Cheers Mike, glad you enjoyed it!
Hard not to spend money when you walk into a candy store 😂👍
How good are Peter and Lydia at Define watches. I purchased a couple of pieces last month (Hanhart & Muhle Glasshute) whilst there. Really enjoy your channel Peter. It’s nice to know there are others with this watch ‘sickness’. If I ever see you in person around Melbourne I’ll be sure to say hi. Keep up the great work.
Peter you have great taste that is a lovely piece. You're right that is a bargain all things considered. Hand made, looks like that...honestly i thought it was gonna be almost triple the price.
Awesome review Peter. I getting mine soon after 12 months. What is the strap you have (cream colored one) please. Also the clasp
Artem Straps, should be in the description section of this video

It is without a doubt one of the most beautiful and stylishly classic looking watches I have ever seen..m
Congratulations on the new addition. It’s simply stunning. I saw one previously and fell in love. Wear in good health and enjoy 👌
I am happy for you, that is a stunning watch with a great back story. Hope you enjoy looking at it for years to come. And thanks for the education, I had not heard of this watch maker before.
My pleasure Derren 👍
Lovely watch. Amazing that people can focus and create a thing of beauty, while at the same time people are blowing each other up in two major wars
The travesty of this world unfortunately
Well said 👍
OMG, this brand IS some kind of Graal for so many ... What a cleaver and beautiful choice! I think I don't have to tell you to enjoy this watch, I'm sure you do, and you will continue to for years. 👍👏
Beautiful, Peter. Thank you for sharing this love story.
Hey Marty, I have so much more to share regarding this purchase, but wanted to also keep it condensed and watchable. Cheers brother
Congratulations on your Wife & family they are the most important part of our lives. Nice watch wear in good health Peter 🙏
Cheers brother..you too, be well 👍
I've been to Define Watches as well. A magical place! The great watches are a little out of my price range but who knows, one day, maybe. Thanks for your story. By the way, my wife would also have no issues with me buying any watch I set my heart on.
Fantastic watch and with the support, understanding and love from your wife makes it even more special.
Well said!
My wife told me the same thing while on our cruise to Alaska! I share the excitement when your dearest one gives you the green light to make a watch purchase. I ended up choosing a 42 mm Longines Legend Diver on the mesh bracelet. Cheers!
