- I did an interview/debate with a preacher, Jesse Lee Peterson, for a show called "The Fallen State". This is my reaction to the nonsense. He really wanted to blame my atheism on some fault in my upbringing, and insisted on referring to gay people as radical homosexuals. Also, I apparently don't look like an atheist. yay.

(Watching this in 2018) So....I watched the original interview when I was a Christian and then again later as an Atheist. Here's my observations....
Watching as a Christian... watching made me extremely angry because this guy made it seem like all Christians were idiots and because he misrepresented MY god and Christianity. Throughout the entire interview, I yelled at the screen. I would yell something to the affect of, "Now, she will never believe in god you idiot and neither will people watching!" I felt like I had to defend my faith, religion and god.
Watching as an Atheist,....I found humor in the ridiculous way this guy presented himself and his religion (the same religion I believed in). I was humored by the reactions Jacylyn Glenn could not hold back from her face. I shook my head and mumbled something like, "wow, I wonder if he knows this interview is helping someone rethink their faith and rightfully so."
It was so much more fun watching the interview as a free thinker! I no longer have anything to defend so there really is no need for anger anymore...instead I'm humored by the whole thing.
Freedom from religion is such a wonderful thing to embrace. Everyone should give it a go. :)

I think I became an atheist when I learned that Santa Claus wasn't real. To me Santa was no different that God. I just assumed that God was just pretend for adults. i realized that fear of death was the main reason that adults wanted to believe so badly.

That's how I became an atheist too. After I heard it on the playground, I asked my parents and they told me Santa Claus isn't real, but to continue the pretence for the younger kids. A couple of years later I realised that God was a slightly more sophisticated way of imposing good behaviour on older kids. For years I genuinely expected to be let in on the secret that it was just a charade for the children. Learning that adults really believed in God was sickening, like finding myself trapped in Lewis Carroll's Wonderland.

This guy was unreal.
What was most interesting to me was his redefining terms. I've heard this a lot in my personal experiences. People of faith will have a set of terms that hold more weight or mean something completely different that the literal definition. The source of this redefining is usually a verse of scripture that was expanded past its original meaning. This is how we end up with incomprehensible links between separate verses, whose words or phrases are the result of a translator's whim. Now, these words or phrases are further proof to the believer that the scripture they profess is "true".
Perfect Peace: He repeats this several times, as though you should know what this means. To him this seems to be an indication of your quality of life.
Discriminate: I love that you called him out on this. He has redefined this word to mean "picking steak over ribs", and he clarified to everyone just how idiotic he was.
I think you handled yourself better than most could, and certainly better than he deserved.
When you break down his videos, you realize how dumb he really is

That interview was the first Jaclyn Glenn video i'd ever watched and less than 5 mins into the video I subscribed! He wasn't calling all homosexuals radical. He was basically saying that it was extreme or wrong for homosexuals to take the Christians to court on their religious beliefs. They could have just went to another bakery. In a way they were forcing the Christians to go against their beliefs, which most Americans would disagree with. He should not have used radical but his whole interview had an agenda. Sad to say, mission accomplished.

She asked for a list of the questions they would ask ahead of time, which they provided to her. But then they didn't ask her any of the questions that were on the list. I think you could understand how this would catch someone off guard. But what questions did she specifically refuse to answer?

To me god can be some kind of alien, or could be someone who made us in some kind of computer in a simulation, or hell, he could be a speck of space dust that was in the right place at the right time that set everything into motion, but when I try to say that to some people who are religious I automatically get shut down. So to most people I just say yes. Saves me a lot of frustration lol.
