So much, to learn really. We're new to caravaning. Started in August after waiting 22 months for our first ever van. Elddis Affinity 520. We keep it on our drive tow hitch in for added security and hitched to a security post. I wish id put the post lower so the water doesn't pool on the roof 😒. I don't have a front cover as yet. But we only went to Scotland, Northumberland and North Yorkshire for our first trip out (900 miles). Then Colchester and the noisiest site ever, constant 24 hr A12, won't be returning. We're already a 2 awning couple 😂. We'll be away again before the end of the year, Chatsworth in December. Jim and Barbara
Hi Rob, wow 22 months to wait for a caravan that's a long time. Sites can be hit and miss, was the noisy one a CCC site ? Good idea having it nose in for security. I do the same when I bring it home. Lol I have been through the awnings, we have 2 and a canopy at them moment. Enjoy making memories
Hi James, I hope you are well. Caravan service day 😮LED light we had the same problem with our coachman. tow cover in the same if it's raing or very short journey we leave it off. Flip key Sarah has I don't like it 😅 caeavan in storage always leave it with the front up higher than the back. Great video, mate. Cheers, Paul and Sarah
Apparently its a common issue, I was just concerned that the ATC wasn't working, Its seems from the responses that it is common practice to tilt the Caravan when stored. At least I am not the only one that does it 🙂
We always keep ours nose down in storage as the rear has a raised lip so at least the water runs forward…doesn’t help with keeping the front of it clean though 😂 We have stopped using our towing cover, too much hassle with where we store our van…we’d have to clean it before using the cover & we don’t have access to water etc… at storage.
Hi Dean, Makes sense tipping it forward if you have a lip at the back. I don't find the towing cover to much hassle to put on its just when its early and wet. I get around the problem of not having any water to clean the front by having a bottle of waterless wash in the caravan and use that and a microfiber cloth seems to work well,. Even when I arrive on site and we have time and the caravan is dirty I like to give it a clean with the waterless wash or at least get the worst of it off.
Hi James I don’t own a towing cover 30 yrs towing the van and haven’t suffered any damage. Personally I think towing covers are a bit of a fashion accessory. In storage it’s nose down and rear steadies locked. Another nuisance to overcome.
Hi Colin, Hope your well, I guess sits personal Choice, I remember as a Kid in the 70's with the parents towing a flat fronted caravan with Glass Front Windows all over Europe and don't remember them having a problem, However i Have had a couple of friends in the last couple of year had broken front windows while towing. I just feel more comfortable with it on. Glad I am not the only one that tilts the caravan while stored.
Hi James good to see you well. Have to agree its a bit of a worry towing without the cover on the van. Leaving it tilted when stored is something i do and mainly tilt the back end down. Regards steve
Hi Steve, Thanks for watching and commenting, I don't think I will be towing without the cover again. I am glad I am not the only one that tilts the Caravan. Happy Camping, James
Hi, there.the main concern we would have not putting on the cover is not how dirty the van gets but the risk of damage. Speaking from experience a journey of less than 5 miles resulted in a broken front window due to probably a stone flying up and a large bill for a replacement. So no matter the weather I always nag the OH to put the cover on.
Hi Sally, thanks for watching and commenting. I agree ref the risk of damage. I don't t think I will be towing without the cover on again. Happy Camping. James
Hi, thanks for watching and commenting. At my request, they didn't do the service, just the other bits of work. I can't say just yet why I asked them not to do the service but all we become clear in the New Year.
I quite often don't put the front cover on for one reason or another. But the main reason is as you said, chucking it down...
I just don't feel dressed without it 🙂

I leave mine high at the front so the water runs off the back and that's on my drive

You cant beat MG 🙂

Not long to do a service, have they actually done anything?
