Just passed my test today, 9 hours of lessons with 1 minor, can safely say your videos have helped me a ton, thanks for all of your hard work that goes into them
Omg that’s insane! 9 hours and 1 minor!!! Congrats Adam smashed it 🥳🤩🙌👏
jesus christ well done😳👍🏼
That’s impressive ngl, well done
I’ve literally spent the last 3 months over analysing insurance premiums for a lower price man 😭 thank you
Hope some of these things can help you pay less!
hey im looking car insurance too, which one did u end up going with
Additional drivers is a weird but useful tip. I added my mum and my cousin and it knocked my premium down significantly, about £150 cheaper.
Can I use your mum and your cousin, please mate. 🥺
What happens if YOU are driving and have an accident in your car though? Is your mum penalised in any way by being named on your policy. Does it have any impact for her insurance or NCD if your the driver? Or does it only impact you in the event of an accident?
@@melon0007 No, just the main policy holder is penalised - same applies if an additional driver has an accident in your car, it's at your hindrance
Another tip is the the date you choose for your insurance to start is important as well. Trying to pay for insurance a month in advance will bring it down.
Even still way to high
I’ve got a black box and honestly it ain’t that bad, you sort of learn how hard you can break before it marks you, first week I went below my minimum points but soon went back to 100 and is staying at 100 😊
Also be careful if you keep changing things when seeing if you can get it cheaper, they pull you up on it and can see how many times you’ve tried
I passed my test last week I watch so much of your videos thank you so much
Thanks for the tips guys, after a long wait for my test due to seeing no spaces I’ve finally passed my driving exam on the 12th September, got 8 minor faults so not a small amount but that could be to do with the fact I passed first time in an area I’ve never stepped foot in never mind drove a car there. really enjoyed the video no bs’ing or wasting time just straight to the point concise and informative 100% will help me to get cheaper insurance as the prices I’m seeing right now are insane 3.5k for a 1.5k car lol crazy crazy prices.
BE CAREFUL not to heavily quote insurance companies. You WILL get black listed. I was messing around with a fair amount, and some times it would increase a lot which I didn't understand why. So I kept changing and eventually the cheapest companies stopped giving quotes to me... I dont know if it can be revsersed
I Past my test first attempt on Tuesday and ur videos helped me to pass along with my amazing driving instructor...smart choice school
Whether this is helpful for people or not, when I passed my test I got a brand new Peugeot 108 on a ‘just add fuel’ deal which I paid £270 (will obviously vary person to person depending on deposit and yearly mileage) a month and that included the cost of the car, insurance, they also pay for 3 years worth of tax and you get free roadside assistance and 3 years of free servicing BUT I had to have a black box for 3 years because I was under 21. This didn’t bother me as i do think it made me a better driver, it just annoys other people more😅 You have to be 18 but they don’t require a certain amount of years experience so it’s great for new drivers and it’s a 3 year finance contract! I found it so much easier to manage everything in 1 payment, it was such a good deal to have as a new driver! I think Vauxhall do something similar aswell! 😊
Now I’ve been driving a few years and I’ve got my no claims built up, I have my dad as a named driver as he’s been driving 30+ years and he drives for work so that has also brought mind down slightly!
Doing it early also brings it down slightly, I did mine 3 weeks in advance and saved myself about £25-£30 so worth looking!
AMAZING tips!! Thanks Caitlin! That just add fuel is a really good scheme for young drivers!
Do you acquire no claims bonus from a just add fuel contract? Thanks
@@siani5299 yes I did! ☺️
what I've found is that if your car is too old than the insurance is also higher, atm the sweet spot is 2008 cars
With your very last tip, be careful - the exact same car, but with different reg plates, can cost way more or way less. I see this a lot, with the worst I've seen being two identical Suzuki Swifts where the same company offered £992 for one but about £1800 for the other. I think they look into the history of that particular car and go off that
Interesting that’s a good tip thank you Sam!
I’d bet getting a black box would save you money on fuel too. It’s essentially encouraging you to drive smooth.
Black boxes wouldn't work in my country because it's more dangerous to stick to the speed limits when everyone else is going double it 😂
😂🤦♂️
So is the black box kind of like the Otimo app, that tracks your drive and tells you how good your doing? If so that’s good.
Also you need to declare any mods on your car, I have a ramp for my wheelchair and you need to tell them about those to, even down to stickers/decals can up your insurance!!!
The one I had gave me a score based on every drive. It plugs into your car and tracks how harsh you accelerate, how harsh you break, speed. Mine monitored how fast you take corners too. Some have a curfew on where you can’t drive past a certain Time such as 10pm which can be annoying but can help reduce insurance further! The better your average score they usually reduce the insurance premium or some companies give you money back as an incentive to keep driving well ☺️
Man I’m getting 7k+ and most places say they can’t get me a quote I’m really losing hope
Bro that’s exactly what’s happening with me to.
@@solouzair mate the bad news is I ended up having to pay 6.3k and that’s it
@@kickstownldn9949 did u pay 6.3k? On what car
@@kickstownldn9949why didnt u just get 3party ?
What the fuck for??
Thanks for this 👍👍 I think I'll get a black box when I pass. That bit at the end was just typical french car quality!!!
Great video like always; could you do a video searching for a car and how to pick one on how many miles it has done, fuel, price etc… thanks
My friend got insurance for his car then a week later he got an email saying the insurance company wanted to see it's vo5 then a few days later they emailed saying he had to pay £80.00 more no reason given . He basically gave them the same info when he filled the form out the first time, cna they get away with that ?
Deep down, we all know you love this Peugeot 😂. Brilliant content
Please could you make a video on how to find a decent car & price range for a first-time driver or in general e.g. ranking brands, mileage, n.o. previous owns.
Thanks 😊
Black box didn't really reduce my insurance by much, for a 1.4 Polo I was quoted £1.4k with a black box and £1.6k without
I have a 1.2 polo and every quote im getting is between 4k-8k. Any tips or recommended websites?
@@hsquar3d5164k insurance wtf

@@hsquar3d516 how did u get around this in the end? im having the same issue
21 years old, monthly pay is £170 et4 125cc
Very hard to pass in uk and expensive to have a car.
I had over 100 hours of driving and still not have the skills to pass, lots of money spend in this country.
100 hours of driving and u haven't passed thats just a sign u shouldn't be on the road
Get a different teacher. 100hrs is too many
For the rare cars it’s true bey For 2.7 V6 coupe SE. and I was like 6months new driver costed me 780£ for entire year.
When I was doing my theory it said that 3rd party insurance was mandatory, it never mentioned any other insurance types. Interesting
3rd party is the mandatory minimum. The info on insurance basics is really not easy to find! Hopefully this video can help lots of people 😊
What can happen if you are the main driver of the car but you put yourself as the 2nd driver and one of your parents as the main driver?
If they find out somehow they could cancel your insurance. When you go to claim, if they find out then, they can refuse to pay out.
Would doing a pass plus course do anything significant to your insurance quote?
You will probably pay more for the pass plus than you’ll get discounted from your first year’s premium
Thanks for the tips. Quality Video. Quality Info.
How does that affect my insurance premium
What happens if YOU are driving and have an accident in your car though? If you add your mum for example, Is your mum penalised in any way by being named on your policy. Does it have any impact for her insurance or NCD if your the driver? Or does it only impact you if you had the accident?
It does affect her
I’m going to uni in around 6 months can I get an insurance for less than a year
it depend on age type of car where you live
I found mileage doesn’t really affect my insurance cost I put 12000 miles then I put 15000 miles and I got the same quotes at the same price
I work as a truck driver. I drive to my work 30 miles and park it in the employers car park from Monday morning to Friday evening after staying out all week. 30 miles return home. I rarely drive it at the weekend. So roughly 4000 a year. Yet my insurance price does not reflect this.
Can you do a video on secondly traffic lights please?
I ask What is this algorithm for working out the policy? Second, if I have given 10k estimate and in 3 months I have not even used 200miles meaning I may not be using even half at the end of the year all things being equal, how much can this reduce the insurance the next year.
As a comment a blanket approach doesn’t sound like giving people all the room to get a quote specific for them. How another person drives affecting everyone else’s insurance?!?!
Insurance is based on risk points so say the model of your car is common amongst younger drivers hence involved in many accidents that's one risk points then the engine size of your car is too high or the power output is high that's another risk point even the colour of your car can be a risk point if that particular colour is involved in many accidents
Not all of us builders are shit drivers but fuck me they wanna do us in on the prices, I’m currently down as a maintain man on mine
Thanks for support Francis 🙏
Always for you Stan!!
Really helpful as always
I’ve found out that newer cars have cheaper insurance than older cars
Currently looking at insurance, 5 years driving, 3 years NCD, 500 miles a week for work, insurance group 13 car. I was paying £82 a month for the past year, £64 a month the year prior, the insurance tried sticking me to £195 a month. Ive gotten them down to £150 ish but thats still shocking. Any advice? I do have my mum as a 2nd driver
Shop around! You get no benefit from staying with the same company and you can take your NCB with you. Try confused . Com and compare the market etc. they all will give different quotes and work with different insurers so check them all out
@DrivingSchoolTV i have been shopping around, best deal i can get is abiut £1400 which is still a massive bump up. Ive used the comparison sites then all the best companies ive went to their websites directly. Would it be a good idea to phone the cheaper ones i find and see if they can go any lower?
What if you're a new old driver like me???? New but mature lol
Same things apply Lynette! We should all be checking and adjusting everything that’s still true every year!
insurance should be banned
She spent more time looking at him than on the road
Don't say you park on your drive
Get your policy to start 3 weeks later
Play around with job titles
Waiting the three weeks to drive feels like an eternity 😢
Thank you
I have just passed in December 2023 but I have over 20years of driving experience
in what way do you have over 20 years experience if you only passed in December? If it's foreign driving experience then, sure it should work in your favour!... If you can speak to an insurance company on the telephone to explain.😊 I don't think theres anywhere to input that on a comparison website though
@@DrivingSchoolTV Thanks mate. I am hoping to find a good premium as an experienced foreign driver but it’s daunting task for me at the moment. Any links would do me mate.
how does this work for new mature drivers?
Hey Susie! It works exactly the same 😊 we should all be checking if these small changes can give us a more favourable quote when renewing every year, at whatever age or however long we’ve been driving!
@@DrivingSchoolTV thankyou very much for your information as I am sitting my driving test next month and just wanted to check if it made any difference with me being older, just to say all your videos are totally amazing and thankyou again.😃😃😃
Thanks so much Susie! Good luck for your test next month!!
Love video
The winks told alot😂😉
thank you so
Im on a black box and im paying 500 a month for a corsa 1.2 i dont understand why ?
Get rid of your corsa maybe phone up your insurance and play around with quotes on a couple of different cars under 1.2 L low insurance group ideally a car that is uncommon amongst young drivers
i liked it
I can't even pass my theory test never mind get cheaper insurance
