I just passed my driving test. 2 days later, I bought a used car of Ford Ka and managed got under 800 pounds for insurance as 19 years old, and its 1.2. Well worth it!
My first car was and still is a Dacia Sandero 0.9 tce. its a roomy medium size petrol car. Its fun to drive and cheap to run. Its top speed isn't pretty but its a front wheel drive so the cornering is nippy and it has a 3 cylinder engine which gives decent acceleration when you turn the eco mode off. I would recommend, Dacia is an overlooked brand but they are pretty reliable cars manufactured by Renault.
Peugeot often a lovely car to drive. The thing I always recall Jeremy Clarkson saying about Peugeots in the last couple of decades was that they were often like a "TARDIS" no I don't mean that you can time travel in them. But if you think of the concept surrounding it, I.e. it appears as if you have more room on the inside than it looks like from the outside. Great value for money.
I have a 2014 Peugeot 208 1.2 vti. 82hp. I got it to learn in and have been driving it for a while now. It’s a great car and has done a great job being somthing to learn in. However, it’s a 3 cylinder so is a little jumpy to learn in and you’ll have to be good at clutch control. Its pretty quick and nippy and good miles per gallon. I think they are totally underrated as hatchbacks in the Uk. For people wanting something to lightly modify, there isn’t a lot of options.. a spoiler and maybe some grill options but don’t expect to be changing everything like you see with the ford focus and corsa. Happy to answer any questions too. As I know there isn’t a lot of info on the pug 208s

Would you recommend the Ford focus 2012-2015 1.0 ecoboost top spec? I need something bigger than a fiesta or polo but smaller than say a mini bus 😂 it will be my first car but kids n busy life means I need a small family car...but I can't afford insurance on anything bigger than a 1.2 🤷

Yeah, I kinda miss that as well. As we know certain year models have certain issues, but you need a lot of knowledge about cars to know what usually goes wrong in each car.
i had a 2004 1.25 fiesta for a year (absolutely brilliant would highly recommend), now just turning 18 bought a 2009 1.6 fiesta Zetec S thats only £1600 no black box a year however i do live in the middle of nowhere which makes it a lot lower, put your parents on the insurance as second drivers this lowered it by £400 per parent for me, and start the insurance about a week after youve paid as that lowers by about 200 for me, so i'd look at a 1.25 or 1 litre ecoboost fiesta (1litre is t£0 tax!)
@@shamshersahota8412 the 1l is the more modern engine however at 99 hp compared to around 83 for the 1.25, the thing to look at is insurance group, but if it were me id get the 1litre, there more fuel efficient and theres no tax so it might be cheaper in the long run
