Honestly before i went active duty infantry i enjoyed five finger death punch, but now seeing how much they support our troops makes it all the more personal. Ya'll know you're number one on my deployment playlist. You guys might not read this but just so you know your musics going with me in a few months, gonna be rockin out in the real. I know its gonna give me the motivation i may need. Appreciate all you guys do. Edit: never thought my comment would blow up like this. Ya'll have no idea how much this support means. All i can say is i hope you guys show the same support and kindness to your local veterans and other active duty military. Keep it real everybody. Edit 2: its been five years and i cringe a little inside every time i get a notification for this comment. Boot energy was off the charts. Im out now, was a good five years and i wouldn't trade it for anything but it certainly wasn't nearly as glamorous as id imagined it to be. No crazy war stories just a dumb kid too high off his own ego. Did some stupid things, did some cool things, did some really embarrassing things id rather not remember. Thanks for the consistent reminders of how much ive matured since making this comment, and thanks for all the support. It definitely helped at the time. Cheers everybody 👍
Why are you being deployed? Retired Amy MSGT speaking here. I don't have any of my current brothers or unit with that in mind . we are in a Blackhawk unit, former crew chief , that being said, haven't heard much chatter about us leaving the country? Well, do your job, take out the trash and come on back. Army Strong... Hooah
@@mattendres2866 Well MSGT without publicizing too much info(operational security, you understand), my battalion is deploying as fast action for embassies around a certain chaotic country. In the mean time we're to be doing training exercises with local military and police forces. Thats about all i can share without compromising said opsec

Never Forgotten. There aren't any words to say when so many have lost their lives for us. The pain will be there always. But their memories will live on . Much Respect and Love A Gold Star Sibling. ☆ ;(
My son took me to a concert in Council Bluffs Iowa called River Riot. We sat up on the hill and watched Shine Down and Five Finger Death Punch put on an amazing show. That was May of 2018 one of the greatest memories I have of him as an adult. I lost him to cancer 12/12/2019. We played this song at his funeral along with Shine Downs 45. Tomorrow is the second anniversary of his passing and I still smile thinking about that day and how fucking short life is. Thank you from the bottom of this old soldiers heart for all you do. It makes a difference.
I lost my brother this year the day after I went to ffdp concert. He was the reason I started listening to this band. He was a unfortunately part of the 22 veterans that leave this earth an their families. I miss you so much. Heaven is so far away and this world is so cold now without out. RIP little brother. 😢
RIP a part of my heart and my soul went out as I was reading this comment to you and all the brave soldiers and families who have lost. As I have lost my youngest brother this past year. My compassion and sympathy goes out to all of us who have lost an innocent soul. Prayers for pesce love and the end to the endless wars which are only killing our brothers, sisters, children and family.
Yeah I lost mine 7-7-19 & this song always feels like it's about him although he didn't serve he talked to a recruiter & nothing ever happened & I feel like things would've been different if he would've served
Survivor guilt is beyond horrible. Your buddies/comrades in arms leave a hole in you like losing your own child. You see their family and friends on a daily routine. Now everything is a reminder how you are here and they are not. I'm glad a band like 5FDP gets it and makes people aware of the real pain. During the holidays cherish the people around you, especially the ones in uniform. Because one day they may commit the ultimate sacrifice. -Former Soldier
Colin Rainey my entire family has served or currently are and i fear that one day i wont see them i havent seen either of my uncles in what seems like years. I have a deep respect for anyone who serves, so on behalf of america. Thank you
Kevin B Yep, that sweet oil isnt gonna steal itself. America sending their troops to die just for the politicians profit is really something worthy of respect.
My dad was in the British army in Afghanistan and Iraq, I love that man so much and I'm proud and honoured to call him my dad luckily he got to come home but not the same he was before he left. Everybody should always show love, positivity and gratefulness to anyone who has served for their country.
Lost my little brother to his PTSD from his time deployed. RIP Peter Anthony Martin 1/15/90-12/31/15. Before his medboard he was 101st airborne rakkasans air assault. Never forget you little brother.
My old drill SGT was on that deployment, the rakkasan one in 2015, and he has severe PTSD from it. Guy went too far from time to time. Still a phenomenal person and think the best of him. I’m sure your brother is still a wonderful person. Wish you the best. Top Guns. Strike. Air assault.

In WW2, you were considered less of a man to not have served. I can understand both the urge to service, the anguish and insanity of losing friends, as well as the call back to duty after their loss. My favorite quote is from Gen. Patton: "It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived." The guys and their families are all noble, noble in their service of the country, as well as noble in their mourning and pain. Great video.
It's a hard call to answer but only the brave do. All gave some, some gave all. Thank you to every man and woman who answered that call. We appreciate you. 🇺🇸
One of my best friends MARINE, I still visit his place once a week, or more. . growing up, /neighbor/soccer teammate/ schoolmate since kindergarten, he past after his third tour/ deployment with the Marines, the first one he mentioned was mostly on a boat in the red sea I believe with the navy.. he was 25 at the time of his passing, And unfortunately he was one of about 5 Men, that he personally knew well, in his little group (I'm not sure of the term) that committed suicide after coming home back to the States.. What's/was very sad was seeing him not be able to sleep at night, unless I was awake. He would always stay dressed while I was asleep at night, boots tied tight and ready to go, even If we had work at 5am that next morning. Always kept at least one weapon in arms reach, always drove around with his loaded shotgun in the back seat of his car everyday anywhere... Also, several times a day he would randomly throw up, at work, or, at home, sometimes would even have to pull over while driving to throw up. He was a great upstanding person/hero/ friend/ brother/ uncle/ neighbor/ student/ teammate/ HUMAN!!!/ I knew him since kindergarten, And stayed close until he passed away. He was much different upon returning. And didn't talk much about being deployed, esp violence, only would talk about the positives And non violent things. only violent thing he ever spoke of was about the wild dogs they would sometimes have to shoot. . I know on one of his deployments he spoke of guarding poppy fields, the stuff used to make heroin. (HMMM I thought. Oil + Drugs= $$$) and for a while I hated thinking about why they were really there , it ate me up! Guarding these plants that make the drugs that kill our own people, and they risk their lives doing this for us US civilians.) (Or is it???) And told stories of how many soldiers became dependant on opiates while over there, because they would use it to numb their pain and or stress, or just simply recreation for N escape. BLEW MY MIND!!!!. He had once told me children would offer them smokable poppy tar, or opium. And they'd smoke it, many many many he said became addicted which ultimately led to dependency... Sad sad sad. Anyway, THANKS to all who gave anything for our country. Some sadly gave all.. Even tho I necessarily agree with all the reasons they were there , thanks to u folks. RIP! My buddy, MDK, was infantry with U.S. Marines And he took pride in what he did. One a Marine always a Marine is so true. Him and his brothers in arms were so dedicated, enough to go through what many us civilians couldn't handle. Peace n prosperity to everyone in earth and beyond who deserve it!!!!

To all who have served, I thank you. To the families of those who have not come home from their service, I owe you a debt that can never be repaid. My heart is with you, every second of every day. This song has always touched me, my adopted dad is a Vietnam Vet and has reluctantly shared some stories of his time in the jungles. Most of my family has been in the service, as well as myself. So I hold a special reverence for my brothers and sisters out there. However, as of November 06, 2022, this song rips my heart out. I lost my wife. I was lucky and was able to hold her as she slipped from our world, but now my mind turns to her when I hear this song. That said, I am set to see FFDP in Rogers, AR in just a month or two and I am terrified they will play this during their set. As much as I am looking forward to seeing them live again, I am dreading this song. Just because I don't want the emotions to come out and play. Now, with the depressing crap out of the way, Thank you, FFDP, the incredible music.
Despite the fact that I am from Russia, your work resonates in my heart. I lost my father in the war several years ago, but the wound from loss does not cease to hurt over the years. Unfortunately, many veterans after a while become forgotten for the government of their countries, especially in military operations in those countries that are not convenient to remember, but they will always remain in the memory of their relatives and families. Thank you for your music. It helps me a lot.
Russian, German, American, whatever. The feelings and the significance is still the same. Sorry for the loss of your dad. Just keep your head down and moving forward because that's what your father would want you to do.
It doesn’t matter where you’re from, those lost to war is all the same and just as heartbreaking, no nation is superior to another, let my prayers reach you my friend, and everyone who’s lost friends and family to the horrors of war... 🥀✊🖤
Just gonna throw this out there. What he is wearing on his wrist at the end of the video are memorial bracelets, to honor his friends and brothers in arms. FFDP is a kick ass band and their music speaks a hell of a lot louder than people care to imagine.
To all the veterans and soldiers who are watching this video, I want to say thank you for your service. Thank you for fighting for our freedom, for our countries, for us. I have so much respect for all of you. Much love to all of you.
@Graustreif Elvanien you realize it's called a war on Terrorism right. Sure some politicians get us into fucked up situations but our warriors fight tooth and nail to keep those at home and abroad free from terror organizations. But we can only do so much. I know everyone wants to blame us but I've seen the bad and the good first hand.
@Wilbur Wafer my friend died fighting the war on terror he was a fucking hero. If you never been to war shut your fucking mouth. You can never understand what we go through.
My dad served my grandfather, great-grandfather, both of my uncles, brothers, and countless cousins. I'm lucky to have had all of them come back home, but the fact I couldn't serve due to a medical disqualification eats at me still some 30 years later. I see things like this, our servicemen and women suffering daily and all I want to do is help. I feel guilty that I didn't get the chance to stand and serve while so many lost, or made it back home and were forgotten. Just because we say on a social media post "never forget" doesn't mean that we truly remember, and thank you just doesn't seem to get the message across. As long as I have breath in my lungs, I will continue to help, volunteer, and support those who signed up and stood up for this country, and more importantly, those at home who waited, and never got to hug their loved ones again. Thaks for the support that FFDP gives our service men and women, and for everyone that put on a uniform, I can't thank you enough. Let's do everything we can to make sure everyone comes home and has what they need to continue to live.
The fact that you and the guy in the other comment wanted to serve is honorable. There are other ways to help our service members, just don't forget that. I did 13 years in the Army. I was going for the full 20, but injuries from overseas caught up to me.
As someone who couldn't serve, but supports our men and women in uniform, I really respect 5FDP's commitment to the military. Thank you veterans. You are respected and remembered. We will never forget freedom isn't free.
Jeffrey Reichert : the sad part is they never get the respect and care they need. its sad, the damn football players get more to do something fun when they protected our country for our privilege to live. :(
That was to the point and genuine, not too tart. Some people try being so long winded and self righteous when it comes to saying nice words for our military. Thanks Jeff
Her Majesty's Royal British Army: Cpl. Alex Burnes. Staff Sgt. Manex Riddle. Cpl Burnes died attempting to save the life of Staff Sgt Riddle after he had stepped on a land mine, for Burnes to then be shot by a Marksman only two-hundred meters away. An Armoured Warrior division then shortly dispatched opposing forces in the vicinity; both bodies were recovered. Staff Sgt. Burned died instantly that day. He had a closed coffin funeral and later cremated. Cpl. Burned died shortly after recovery from blood loss. He had an open casket funeral, and was also cremated later. ... Fuck war, man.
Yeah, thank you for being an idiot who signed up to fight the wars of special interest groups to destabilize countries, install puppet leaders, and most importantly to steal oil!!!!!
@@darkblade3897 I agree to a point, however good men and women still die fighting for their country. Politicians make those "decisions"and unfortunately and sadly true soldiers pay that price. I don't like the fact Special Interest makes policy. I commend people who are willing to go to a place of war and conflict and get shot at and watch friends die, people, villages and lives get blown apart. They made a conscious choice to do what they felt is right no matter what. If everyone sat back and bickered at the "politics" more death and destruction would follow. Some must fight and some must die. I wish everyone could be home safe and no one was killing anyone for bullshit reasons. That's not reality YET. One day maybe.
This is easily the safest music video I've ever seen, thank you to all that have served, will serve, and those who served till their last breath. It pains me to see what this country has become despite your efforts to bring us peace and joy and to know the disrespect you all receive when you come home to us
My Fiance is a Royal Marine, 5FDP is his only playlist, haven't heard from him since he got deployed three weeks ago, I hope he's safe and still going strong. Thank you 5FDP for bringing him peace.
Respect from Norway. The rest of us, we don't really have a clue. FFDP means so frigging much to me both because their music rocks, but also because of their support to all you soldiers and veterans out there. I even named one of my books after a FFDP song to honor them. Sometimes it takes a song to open up a heart, when words alone are not enough
This song now hits differently. My husband met this band when he was in the Marine Corps Wounded Warrior Battalion after having a head injury in an armored vehicle. I have the autographed photo and Military Times article that my husband, SGT Jason Blondin was mentioned. My husband then got cancer 5 yrs after being medically discharged( presumably due to burn pits) he had a long battle with cancer that finally came to an end this summer. I am glad Five Finger Death Punch re-did this song because I already loved it by Offspring but now the song has another significance to me.
My condolences to u and ur family for ur loss. This song really hits deep in my loss as well but everytime i hear it it makes me think more of the good times i had with my lost ones.
My truly and profound condolences for your loss... I hope you can find peace, as your husband too. I'll pray for both of you (If you don't feel offended about it)... I'm so sorry
To my father, 51, who committed suicide two years ago. To my mother, 50, who just died yesterday. I would trade places with them in an instant if I could.
My mom is 45 and she is in bad health I regret to say this but I don't think she will make it much longer not even an adult yet and this is what I'm dealing with so I know how you feel
TonberryGames I know that you have heard this before but, I know what your going through, and it’s not easy, just hang in there. I’m sorry for your loss.
@@TonberryGames Dude, from a convicted felon to another convicted felon, it is not your fault, it is not something that you deserve in any way shape or form. What you can do, is be the best you that you can be, for them. I lost my 8 year long girlfriend to suicide 4 years ago, and almost 2 years ago, me and her older sister got engaged and found a place together, and one morning she was just hanging there in the kitchen. By her broken neck. I live every day FOR them. It has been a long, painful road and I cannot say that I have recovered, but I'm getting there. I just want to help others. And all respect goes out to your parents. They were and still are strong af people.
As a disabled veteran, I had no outlet for the loss of my brothers, just kept sinking and sinking but I came across 5 Finger death punch and yes there videos and songs are triggering for me, it gives an outlet to express my feelings. I am able to use their videos to express my anger, sorrow, and guilt. I suffer severe survivors' guilt and these videos help me confront those issues. Thank you for your care for law enforcement and military

I got taken out by loose gravel while running (life is stranger than fiction). My knee was destroyed. I now use a cane. My unit went to Iraq not long after. Not everyone came back. I asked for surgery, etc. I was denied. I was discharged and went home. They never let me back in, unlike in the video. I tried for years with different branches and offices. The guilt still haunts me.

My boyfriend served 5 years Army Cav and has his demons as he calls them and when he hears your music it calms the world. Thank you for all that you guys do. He loves 5FDP and has seen you in concert several times and his ultimate goal is to meet you.
Please thank him for his service. PTSD is so hard on families and the individuals dealing with it. Psychedelic mushrooms are proving to help veterans with PTSD. :)

We were soldiers....and young. I was deployed to Iraq in 05 in Oh ANG. It was tough. We made it through, that was luck enough. Nine month after we came home, the youngest guy in our platoon killed himself. Hung himself in the basement of his parent's home. Everything we went through and he kills himself because he either didn't seek the help to cope with his PTSD, or the rest of us didn't see the signs. I don't know. All I know is I'm glad I was brave enough to reach out and ask for help. Thank God for my wife. She helped me through some dark days.

I heard the Offspring version 1000000 times growing up, but never understood the depth of this song until I heard this version. Although not a veteran, I played this in 2021 when my dog of 8 years passed and we spread his ashes at his favorite spot. Truly the fitting song and reminds me everytime how much I still miss him.
My dog of 12.5 years passed away in Jan 2023. I cannot express the pain that I still feel every day. He was the love of my life in every way. I miss you little baby Romeo.
The track “Gone Away” by American rock band The Offspring is one of their most popular hits. Lead singer Dexter Holland wrote the song after his then-girlfriend (the song was released in 1997) died in a car accident.
No one is probably going to read this, but I wish all of our brave soldiers got enough recognition. Thank you all for everything that you have given us and given up for us. You will never be forgotten. 💕
Yeisson Pinilla you don't know how many people sacrificing their own life for the land that you stand even in another country there was also a war how many child do you will not know how their brave father or mother was. i lose my uncle in a war
@Yeisson Pinilla yes.... yes it is brave to risk your life, physical and mental health, relationships, and time with your family to serve your country. It's not all fun and games, it's a really big deal and pretty sad that you see it with such a basic view. I can understand how you view it but don't look at the bigger picture of "people killing each other for no reason" because first of all there is always a reason and secondly you need to think about it from a soldiers perspective.
This litually happen to my brother in Afghanistan. He saw his squaddies van blow up before his eyes. 6 yrs ago still battling with ptsd. I cant even imagen what some of u guys have seen thanks to our troops whos served and still serving 💕💕
PTSD isn't a permanent condition like the VA says it is. They will just throw pills at him and tell him to go away. Get him some independent, not VA help and he will be better off. The most successful friends I have threw all those BS pills away and just smoke a little weed instead. I just say it isn't for me, but whatever works for you. Better than the pills that make you a zombie.
all i can think about after scrolling through this is Rise Against : Hero of War "A hero of war Is that what they see? Just medals and scars So damn proud of me" it hurts too, had some folks that went in and dealt with this. I myself am ROTC so ive heard a lot of stories. I dont know it myself, but its not what people say it is. All gave some, some gave all.
Abdel... And let the people who want to commit mass murder and crash planes into building do what they do? War may be useless, but the fact is we humans are bad at getting along with each other. Until the day humanity realizes we should work together as humanity, we have to fight to protect our homes and family. There are always bad people to fight.
Wow. When I read these comemnts I'm almosts about to cry. Not just because of the words. Your support for your troops in the US is just awesome. Here in Germany (I'm a member of the German Air Force) it is not even a bit like that. I remember in 2016 when I came home from my deployment and we arrived in Cologne NOBODY was there except our families. And if you're at a train station wearing your uniform u will get spit and called a murderer. Thats what the military is worth in Germany. So sad... Respect to the fallen ones of every nation! You will always have my support. I met many american soldiers and they were the greatest men and women i ever met!
Thank you for your comments, gents. It's really good to hear that someone respects the military. "Thank you for your service". Ha. Thats a sentence you will never hear here. In 7 years in my period of service I never heard that. The Germany military isn't as like it was some years ago. Politics don't want us it seems. Men and Women risking their lives everywhere in the world and when they come home they're forget. Finish. Sad. Isn't it?
I am so sorry that you are treated like that on your home, and sending you a Thank you for your service, may the lord watch over you and your brothers in the military.

I hope ffdp reads this message... I'm by no means a combat vet- i went where the army sent me.. but my brother served in Iraq, my dad in the jungles of Vietnam, his dad was some of the first Airborne in WW2- and *his* daddy fought in ww1- while three or four of that guy's brothers fought- and some still rest there in peace thanks to the appreciation of the local islanders. I just want to tell fffp- from the bottom of my cirrhosis- loaded, whiskey- soaked, smoked and pickled heart- I can tell you with absolute certainty that i don't know a single veteran who doesn't not love and appreciate your guys' unwavering support for our warriors. THANK YOU, BROTHERS!! HOOAH!!!
Good speech! But you know, I know, war is fucking way of goverment (yours, mine) SOviet army in Afganistan, your army in Vietnam... Is it OK? And still it happends. (I'am from Russia, sorry for mistakes^)

Sir, I want to thank you for the videos and your support of our troops. I happened across your videos on RUclips and I am very impressed with your range and talent. I am a retired service member who served 23 years. In that time I severed two combat tours in Iraq (2003 and 2005) with the 101st and the Panama invasion in 1989 (2-27IN Wolfhounds - 7ID). Watching your Bad Company and Wrong Side of Heaven videos brought back so many memories and brought up so many feelings. I am fortunate that I never had to fire my weapon, but I know of people who died during each of my times deployed and I think of them every Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day. Please continue to support our troops. Best regards and thank you. CW4(R) Michael G.
For my Dad, who has felt survivor’s guilt since Vietnam as his squad was ambushed and only he survived. Thank you Dad, thank you to ALL Veterans, thanks and know that your families & the American family love you.
Not anyone's fault, that stuff happens in war. I feel his pain. I can only imagine what it's like losing brothers in war. Something we all have to think about, especially in hard times such as right now. And yes special thanks to ALL veterans, and anyone who takes time out of their lives to protect ours. You and your family stay safe my dude.
@@DonnyDope02 Thanks and you and your family as well. So true. He’s been told that by me and the family his whole life, but he always feels he should have ‘gone with my brothers.’ He was hit in the leg and fell into a muddy depression that also had water in it. Basically it dropped him out of sight of the enemy, but not so the rest of his squad. Has a Purple Heart, but never shows it to anyone. Have had to work hard to keep him positive, but even at his advanced age now, he’ll still stare off or punch a wall. Only thing we can do is be understanding and supportive. Thanks for the comment.
My father is also, I never really understood why he had guilt that he made it, why after all the fighting he should have regrets coming home. A few years ago I realized it was because if he is there then maybe someone else can come home, if he is there with his brothers they won't be alone. This cover and video really illustrated survivors guilt and really hit me. Your father is a hero even if he doesn't think it. Thank you for sharing, it makes me sick when I hear about how they treated the Vietnam veterans when they came home not unlike that church protesting at military funerals. If you read this OP, tell your dad thank you, and thank you to all veterans. "When I die I'll go to Heaven because I've spent my time in hell"
Benjamin Capps Thanks for sharing that and I agree fully about the video. It’s summed up well by ‘war is Hell.’ It’s much appreciated and your Dad is a hero too.
I agree, the more people making shit to try and make money off veterans and the military, the better. I know as a veteran I adore all the work this band does targeting the military niche and making videos showing how bad ass they think it is. Especially when they act in the videos! I like seeing them pretending to have the balls to wear the uniform and step into a warzone as a combatant - not just some dudes there making money with another military music video or cover. Easy money, baby. Hooah.
It's not the veterans' fault. It's the politics that sent them into useless wars and perilous paths. But the politicians will just pay respects and keep sending more to die anyway.
I am an Army Vet..Served 5 yrs of service spent 6 months in Kuwait(Operation Desert Shield/Desert Spring),I didn't see action so to speak but had several close calls..I have battle buddies who served afterward like me and spent time in Iraq and I almost lost that one friend who was my battle buddy for yrs..I thought about him all the time not knowing if he was dead or alive for a decade..finally got to reach out to him just to find out he has serious issues and no one can reach him..My cousin is the same way..He served 3 tours in Iraq, and non one can reach him not even fellow Vets...War is such a hard thing to deal with..Even though I never went through what they I'd..the fact I was so far from home and my children, the close calls I had stay with me to this day and that was 30 yrs ago..I can just imagine what a battle hardened Vet has to go through..We are here...We are listening..We care..Your Family Loves You..Never forget that..

This song brings sooo many emotions. 20 years ago my younger brother and I used to jam out to it, completely obsessed with Offspring. Now, 20 years later my brother is gone and this song has a whole new meaning and hits to my very core. Crying happy, sad tears every time I listen to this, you did a amazing job with the video and emotion in the song.
Steven Broski-Thank you. My younger brother was my world, we were only 2 yrs apart so we were extremely close. Even 7 years later it's no easier for me. My family is also all military (both grandfathers, uncle's, aunts and cousins) so this song has multiple different meanings.
I lost my father on June 19th, 2018. I was 20 and I was with my father while he passed on a hospital bed from cancer. It has been the most difficult time in my life, but the best thing that has come from it is remembering all of the great times we had together. It’s hard when we think of what more we could’ve done for the ones we lost, and I feel as if it doesn’t get easier it just progressively hides in the back of the head and it’s always there. As a son who lost his dad to a dad who lost his son, I understand what you are going through but through a sons perspective, just always remember how proud he made you, and how well you raised him. I wish you and your loved ones the best and I’m truly sorry for your loss.
Every time I catch the song I think of you Nikki I think of how proud you would be of seeing Nick Jr all grown up being a man now.... Lynette remarried and is carrying on with her life... Not a day goes by that she doesn't thank God for you and what you guys had together.... She keeps telling me it's not my fault I never let you down.... That helps a little bit.... God damn it I would trade in a heartbeat...
@paulsan2112 its patriotic to serve and help people within your own country. Its patriotic to see and take the shit so nobody else has to. (except for the others whos serving ofc) Its patriotic to eliminate threats that might aswell come inside your country and perform terrorist acts. Its patriotic to eliminate threats within your country that is performing terrorist acts. Its patriotic to put your life on the line in more dangerous countries so the civilians doesnt end up having to. Take you and your disrespectful phrases somewhere else Mr Jesse Ventura.
I joined the military to make the world a better place. I met and lost two of the kindest, honorable, and bravest men from an IED. The pain of their deaths never goes away. The first time i heard this song, I cried because all I could do was remember the brothers that I lost. The new depiction of this song is beautiful, and gives me more inspiration to do all I can for this country. I love you Five Finger Death Punch and thank you for spreading awareness of what goes on out there.
Sir i just want to say thank you for all that you've done for your country. People like you are the reason this country is safe.Im sorry for your loss.
I've heard the original version by The Offspring a thousand times and it's always been great. But not until this cover, did I understand the meaning of this song. What an amazing cover, truly brings out the emotion of the lyrics. Beautiful job Ivan.

One of the only songs that can make me emotional. I've lost brothers. I have more suffering from mental issues after their service. We owe it to everyone who paid the ultimate sacrifice to do better, and do be our best. Thank you for everyone who served and thank you to those who sacrificed themselves so that I could still live free. I got lucky and got to come home. Please shake the hand of any veteran as much as you can. Just because they didn't pass doesn't mean they didn't pay a heavy price.
Agreed. I've lost some very close friends in the military. I'd proudly serve in Canada's navy but unfortunately I'm a convicted felon so until I'm elligible for a pardon in 2021 I'm stuck fishing.
Gary Cooper lost my best friend over there, not one damn thing i could do to save him. Been brothers since childhood. I find myself in some of the same instances in this video from time to time....it's hard to forget, but all you can do is move on. Thank you for your service, de oppresso liber!
This song gets me everytime....makes me remember the good times, riding up in the turret and my buddies nearby smiling and laughing, we were younger, dumber and just wanting to come home, getting through each day with laughter from the simplest of jokes to get by on. Sometimes we wouldn't even say a word the entire watch, just listening to music playing in the background from a PA speaker and the steady heartbeat of our diesels. Made alot of friends, lost a few but gained a forever family in the process.
so much emotion tied up in this song and video. I cry every time i watch it. So many brothers lost. Too many trips to Arlington to pay respects. Survivors guilt is a real thing
Everybody thanking the vets here in the comments, i just want to take a second to thank you guys. Im a young vet myself and i can promise all of y'alls support doesnt go unnoticed. I been struggling to get help from the VA and its awful... Those of you who understand the sacrifices some of us made.... I've lost a few buddies to their demons and i'd give anything to have them back.... Some people dont understand just how good they actually have it in this country. Anyway, i just want to sincerely thank all of you who support the troops. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Hey I'm a PFC myself, almost two years in not long at all ik but its long enough to know this is what I'm supposed to do with my life, keep your chin up, right uniform, right time , right location and you'll be alright
I’ve never seen this video but I’m glad I did ,I watched my brother die in Fallugah Iraq .I miss him everyday my best friend killed him self while we were deployed the very next yr.in Iraq .I sit here with tears 😭 going down my face I miss them both so very much .I want to thank Five Finger for all the support to us veterans and for making videos that actually show the hell we all went trough .
Im so sorry he must have had a lot of depression, anxiety, and stress i understand fully ive been in the same thing but thats worse im sorry my respects are fully paid
I am a German but respect everybody who serve their country. Protect it. Thank you for your service and I‘m sorry for your loss. Rest in peace to all the fallen.
My mum died a little over a year ago, with having to stay strong in front of my kids... I haven't cried like that since the funeral. Cherish your mother, there will never be another ❤
@@Coldfront15 trust me I know who offspring is going to see them next month. And I know the intention of the song was. She was just a huge 5FDP fan so the song hits hard
Jeff Allaby Fuck yeah man. Feels like they sold out after Ixnay, but god damn they make good songs. FFDP is a great fucking band too. Saw Green Day two years ago and i’m going to see them right before I ship to OSUT.
I've not been to combat. I've only done my small part here at home as a VFD Lt. But the loss of a brother in the Fire Department feels even if only in a small way the same as the loss of a brother in arms. Here at home, we value each other with a similar reverence. Please, please! if for no other reason than for the sake of those whom you love, and who love you Seak counseling and support from anyone with even the smallest brotherhood alliance with you! YOUR LIFE MATTERS!!! Even if only to those in your unit, you were a significant part of some unit. Be that a family, a department, a combat unit, or even an otherwise menial cooperate unit. Not all of us were destined to become warriors. But for the love of your country, your family, and each other, DO YOUR PART! Help each other!
Crying? I’m not crying. You’re crying! Beautifully done and hits close to home for far too many. Freedom is not free and I thank each and every one of you that gave everything.
My Dad served 16 years, when he listens to this song he can’t hold back the tears cause of how hard it hits. I’m only fourteen and wanna join the Navy to keep his legacy going. I’ve lost some great family members I’ve never meant in my life. And as a side note if someone could leave a comment telling me the abbreviations for all the ranks I’d appreciate it. Thank you to all of you vets for serving, and if there’s a homeless man that served, don’t be a dick and help him out. God bless you brave souls.
@@airbornestoner3077 some of us don't want to go to college. I've considered it, but I figured dying for a pointless conflict with no end would be a lot better than being a mechanic for the rest of my life. on the plus side, if I stay in for four years, I get free college, but I only see that happening if I don't decide to play kick the can with an IED lol
Enlisted Naval ranking is a bit confusing. Members ranks are written with their rate then their rank. Like when I got out I was YN1 Or a Yeoman Petty Officer First class. But as for the basic ranks Enlisted start out at (abbreviated) Seaman Recruit(SR), Seaman Apprentice(SA), Seaman(SN), Petty officer Third Class(PO3), Petty Officer Second Class(PO2), Petty Officer First Class(PO1), Chief Petty Officer(CPO), Senior Chief Petty Officer(SCPO), and Master Chief Petty Officer(MCPO). The rank when written will always be prefixed with the persons rate though and the abbreviated might change sometimes for example a Special Operator Master Chief will be written SOCM you will learn them in time. Officers are as follows Ensign (ENS), Lieutenant Junior Grade (LTJG) Lieutenant (LT), Lieutenant Commander (LCDR) Commander (CDR) Captain (CAPT) Rear Admiral Lower Half (RDML) Rear Admiral Upper Half (RADM) Vice Admiral (VADM) and Admiral (ADM) Fair winds and following seas my friend.
Sitting here on 08/26/24. 3 years since the 13 KIA in Kabul Afghanistan. 6 years since my Buddy Sgt Gonzo took his life. I feel so helpless. It should have been me. I wish it was me. I mourn for my brothers and sisters but envy them too. My service meant nothing to anyone, no deployments even though i begged. Medically separated even though i wanted to stay in. I just want to have a purpose. I want to be with those that gave it all. My walls are closing in and I think its only a matter of time now. Thanks for the song.
I've never been to WAR and I have so so much respect for our veterans and as a Single Mum with an Autistic child age 9... I suffer from high ANXIETY bad. Any Suggestions on here for Insomnia would be highly appreciated. This song makes me Cry and I have tried Everything natural nothing is helping me
5:02 My sweet husband died serving his country he was in the Navy. And when I hear the song All I think is how much I would rather give up my life and let him live because I miss him so much song Natalie does the song touch from soldier to soldier I'm telling you it touches somebody who loves soldiers I most certainly would give up my life for him. And it's been a long time and I hear this song and all I think of is him and how much I would just give up everything for him.
I was a high school student in DC durring 9/11. I joined as soon as I could. I lost 5 of my friends avenging that day. I lost 10 of my friends due to the afte effects of constant deployments. I completly understand your pain and find myself watching this video on repeat almost weekly, it's good therapy
My daddy Sgt Joe Rachael lost his best friend trying to save his whole platoon. He received the Congressional Medal of Honor for his bravery. He still can't talk about it. Thank you male and female soldiers for your service.
Thanks again 5FDP for capturing another heart felt video of my fellow brothers and sisters. This was very hard for me to watch but it does capture how it feels when you not only lose a soldier but a brother in arms. Dealing with survivors guilt is something I deal with on a daily basis and thank God everyday for my wife and kids that help me move forward. God Bless you guys... HOOOOOORRRRAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
Its amazing how many people forget that its for the fallen and not for those of us that made it home. I love this video, but damn. Too many bad memories.
That feeling of being so weak you can't even pull the trigger just to be with them again, to see those people who were closer than family. I've been there plenty of times, I think most vets that have been to war and actually did something besides sit at the Greenbean and tell war stories have been there. So for all of my fellow vets out there, mourne their loss but live to celebrate their lives and remember to share a drink in their memory. They are never forgotten and they are always with us.
There is NO POSSIBLE WAY to explain to those who have never been there, what we mean by "Closer than family" FFDP plays a type of music I never listened too, couldn't stand it, till a brother made me listen to a couple of their songs. Not sure why the dust always kicks up and gets in my eyes when they are playing......
This would matter back in like ww2... anything past that... please, we were the aggressive invaders... US deserved all the loses it got and more those people were just defending their homes. Sit the troops on the southern boarder then I'll give a crap about a vet.
To my brother Dan. I wish I would’ve tried harder. At least in my eyes. You were too good for the world to lose. This song is definitely a tribute to you brother. I’ll see you one day. Rest easy.
Jason as a veteran who's been suicidal there is nothing you did or could do. We have the battle in our heads. I'm sorry he left but in the moment the feelings are so painful you can't even understand when someone says it will get better. I'm sure he loved you very much.
My sister passed away in 2015 in car accident to a reckless semi driver, she fucking loved this band, every time they come to Albuquerque we always go and celebrate for her like a tradition. I really appreciate FFDP for what they stand for and how they support our men and women who serve our country. They’re coming September 11th and I know that is a night we all take a moment in silence
A week ago my best friend lost his battle with ptsd. I not only grew up with him, I went through everything in the service with him right by my side. From basic and ait, to 88m school years later, 2 deployments, everything. I’ll never hear this song the same again. God bless all of our service members and veterans. For those battling ptsd like myself and many others. You’re not alone, you’re wanted and you’re loved. God bless America.

I grew up listening to offspring , met my husband in service in 2000 and we stayed married for 15 years , he took his life in front of me 3 years ago , and man does this hit home. Thank you for doing this song justice and adding a deep meaning.
Very sorry to hear that. I have been more fortunate than some others in that respect, that I have not lost any military buddies from suicide, but I have lost 2 shipmates (one accident while in, and one from car accident while they were home on leave), and it is still tough sometimes, but you are not alone.
I had Listened to this Song For Years without understanding the emotional impact. I lost my mom Last Year 06/27/23 and this song hits incredibly hard. I have no Grave to leave flowers on but so long as I live I will Celebrate Her Birthday and Have a Fireball in her honor . The World has Gone Cold now that she’s gone Away
Stay safe brotha, know that people back home appreciate what you're doing and appreciate your sacrifice. Thank you.
I definitely love the added support my man. Much love and gratitude

I lost my brother this year the day after I went to ffdp concert. He was the reason I started listening to this band.

There were a lot of suicides due to people that were not able to serve.
It's a hard call to answer but only the brave do. All gave some, some gave all. Thank you to every man and woman who answered that call. We appreciate you. 🇺🇸
Well said

He was a great upstanding person/hero/ friend/ brother/ uncle/ neighbor/ student/ teammate/ HUMAN!!!/
I knew him since kindergarten, And stayed close until he passed away.
Guarding these plants that make the drugs that kill our own people, and they risk their lives doing this for us US civilians.) (Or is it???)
And told stories of how many soldiers became dependant on opiates while over there, because they would use it to numb their pain and or stress, or just simply recreation for N escape. BLEW MY MIND!!!!. He had once told me children would offer them smokable poppy tar, or opium. And they'd smoke it, many many many he said became addicted which ultimately led to dependency... Sad sad sad.

What does SPC and PFC stand for?
@@DeschaineFamilia thank you. I will.

Hey Graustrief Elvanien, from all us Americans, GO FUCK YOURSELF!!!
Exactly same here got medicaled day I was supposed to ship out still kill's my heart 36 yrs later ❤
The fact that you and the guy in the other comment wanted to serve is honorable. There are other ways to help our service members, just don't forget that. I did 13 years in the Army. I was going for the full 20, but injuries from overseas caught up to me.
You could volunteer to help vets. There's tons of organizations just for that.
Thanks Jeff

Watching your Bad Company and Wrong Side of Heaven videos brought back so many memories and brought up so many feelings. He’s been told that by me and the family his whole life, but he always feels he should have ‘gone with my brothers.’ He was hit in the leg and fell into a muddy depression that also had water in it. Basically it dropped him out of sight of the enemy, but not so the rest of his squad.

I'm so sorry for you. I wish you all the strength in the world to overcome this tragedy!
Tom Marple I’m so sorry for your son passing on
I’m so very sorry.
I’m so sorry for your loss. Stay strong.
My little brother just joined the Marines and I pray I never have to hear that he's gone. God bless and protect our troops
I pray you don't either brother 👊✊🏾
Soon I’ll be a semper fi.
May God look out for him
@paulsan2112 its patriotic to serve and help people within your own country.
Hows he doing?
I joined the military to make the world a better place. I met and lost two of the kindest, honorable, and bravest men from an IED. The pain of their deaths never goes away. The first time i heard this song, I cried because all I could do was remember the brothers that I lost. The new depiction of this song is beautiful, and gives me more inspiration to do all I can for this country. I love you Five Finger Death Punch and thank you for spreading awareness of what goes on out there.
Thank you for your service. I am sorry for your loss.

Gary Cooper amen brother. I'm serving for 5 years now. God bless you
Thank you guys for serving our country
Gary Cooper I’ve lost brothers too I understand
Damon Rebel what branch did you join sir?
Ty for your service!
Thank you for your service, sir. ❤️
Thank you, for what you and your fellow soldiers did for this country.
so much emotion tied up in this song and video. I cry every time i watch it. So many brothers lost. Too many trips to Arlington to pay respects. Survivors guilt is a real thing
I’ve served. It’s crazy how well this video can depict pain. This is a masterpiece of recognition of soldiers in any military
I hope your doing well stay strong.
Thank you for your service and stay strong! I appreciate you.
Ivan Moody the singer I believe is a Marine vet
Thank you for your service.
No pity for this dead murders.
Thank you for your service to our country.
Hey I'm a PFC myself, almost two years in not long at all ik but its long enough to know this is what I'm supposed to do with my life, keep your chin up, right uniform, right time , right location and you'll be alright

My mum died a little over a year ago, with having to stay strong in front of my kids... I haven't cried like that since the funeral. Cherish your mother, there will never be another ❤
This song really brings a tear to my eyes every time. Lost a marine brother to suicide in December 2019. Wish he would of called one last time.
i lost one the day after my birthday in 2019 brother, it doesn't get easier, but it gets better. I don't know what else to say.
Hope you're well.

Always break me this song does.Especially during remembrance.....stay strong brother
Heard this track today, remembered it was an Offspring cover. This video is amazing. Shoutout to all soldiers. Selfless.
This year I lost my gf and five finger death Puch was one of her favorite bands. This song makes me think about her so much rest in peace shianne
Sorry for your loss man
Hope you're doing alright. PM me if you need someone to talk to.
Jeff Allaby Offspring, the original composer of this song, their original intention was losing a loved one.
Me cry? NEVER!! Its just some dust in my eye, i swear!
because some people just want to watch the world burn, as sad as it may be...
I'm just watering my eye lashes.

Stay away buddy go to college!!

May God bless every veteran suffering from pain like this
PTSD is no joke either.
I've never been to WAR and I have so so much respect for our veterans and as a Single Mum with an Autistic child age 9... I suffer from high ANXIETY bad.
Praying for you, #ScoutsOut
My brother passed away in October 2023 . When I was little he always played this band I now am 24 and listen to it also . Today it hits home
Damn this video hits home. While y’all are enjoying your three day weekend, remember those who gave their all
Its amazing how many people forget that its for the fallen and not for those of us that made it home. I love this video, but damn. Too many bad memories.
Amen bro😭❤🇺🇸
Thank you for everything you do..🇺🇸
I always will remember our fallen soldiers.
Bro where'd you do basic you look and sound hella familiar
That feeling of being so weak you can't even pull the trigger just to be with them again, to see those people who were closer than family. I've been there plenty of times, I think most vets that have been to war and actually did something besides sit at the Greenbean and tell war stories have been there.
So for all of my fellow vets out there, mourne their loss but live to celebrate their lives and remember to share a drink in their memory. They are never forgotten and they are always with us.
Man you understand.
brother thank you for finding the words I couldn't.
@@luna21romeo88 it's hard for all of us to find those words to try to explain to those who'll never understand
There is NO POSSIBLE WAY to explain to those who have never been there, what we mean by "Closer than family"
FFDP plays a type of music I never listened too, couldn't stand it, till a brother made me listen to a couple of their songs.

I'm sure he loved you very much.

bro we can all have a card game with him later.
