I have a tip for you on the plants. I too spent a small fortune last year on beautifying my yard with all kinds of flowering plants & shrubs. By summer all were dead. This year I decided I would buy a Kayak and go fishing instead. I can honestly say I enjoy that more than digging holes in the yard. Ha!
Healthy soil is a process my friend! ( sometimes years in the making ) Mix in some organic soil with the clay soul. Till it up and add space to the soil so it can breath. ( usually done in the fall ) and add some fish compost so the plant can feed! The key is to have soil that is alive with microbes. Without microbes nutrients cannot be brought up into the plant. Use some Epsom salt and mix that into the top soil! Egg shells work great for nutrients also so you can have breakfast than just throw those shells into your garden! They deteriorate quickly also.
What a blessed life you live. God has been so good to you remember all this when life get hard for you always trust Him and thank him for all you have. I was just there in Austin about a month ago to see my grandbabies nice place but it is not Ohio. LOL
Thank you for shaving the mustache, I missed half the video because I couldn't stop looking at it.You need a drip system for those plants. 1GPH (gallon per hour) drippers because they clay does not drain the water fast enough for a higher flowing dripper. I had the same problem..
Great video! Here is the only tip I have for your plants, because you really don't need (nor do you want) any fishing tips from me! Anyway, next time you plant a new plant make sure to pick a plant that is a little more tolerant to clay soil composition, then dig out your clay'ish soil 2X the size of the plant you are wanting to plant (so start with a small 1 or 2 gallon plant) Make sure to buy a couple of bags of top soil mix. After digging out the location for your new plant, place a handful or two of top soil mix at the bottom of the new plant hole (make sure not to plant your new plant below the level of the surrounding ground level - it should be even or slightly higher). Now using your hands (with gloves) fill the remaining area around your plant with top soil. Make sure to gently pack the top soil all around the plant.. Once you completely fill in the void around the plant, thoroughly water the plant with a mixture of water "miracle plant food". Keep the new plant soil lightly damp and NOT WET.... You will know if you did well in a few days. So there is my plant advice... Not nearly as exciting or as good as your fishing videos!! BTW - You can purchase an elevated Swallow house. These little guys are very effective at keeping moths and other flying bugs at bay and can be an asset around your home... Just place the swallow house out in the backyard.. Thank you for your great videos!! John
mulch them plants up before winter, put some compost, and topsoil around them in spring, let the dog fertalize the plants. Out at least 1 can of nightcrawlers in per year.
Mix that clay soil like 50/50 with peat moss! Also, when you plant it, make the hole almost twice as large as the root-ball if you can. Sometimes (depending on how close the bedrock is to the surface) that isn't possible, but the more packed but still semi-loss soil you can surround your plant with the better. Also, tear the roots outwards so they head away from each other instead of towards the center of the root-ball. You want those roots out and exploring that newly tilled soil you worked so hard to establish.
Dig a decent hole level to the ground obviously a hole proportional to the plant size, fill it with water and plant feed i.e. Miracle grow (the blue kind). Then put the plant in and fill with the soil you dug out and basically plant in the mud you just made with the water, soil, fertilizer. You can also try potting soil that already has fertilizer and fill the hole with that and plant in that mixture. Another thing try planting on a full moon. Make sure at the end its all packed in! Enjoy ! -J.M.
@Lakeforkguy - dig a larger hole, about 8-12" deep, fill the bottom with a good potting spoil but mix it about 60/40 with the native soil, then compact it. heavily water the day you plant and the next day. Also check that your plants can handle full sun. Most plants they sell at Lowes or HD can't handle our sun. Hey btw that new black color ring fry with a small tungsten weight and glass bead is totally killer; got a 9lber on Friday out on my kayak
this is a great vlog, as for the barn swallow i would recommend getting a bird nest for them because they will eat their body weight in bugs a night!!! if you get like a bird hotel for multiple nesting pairs and put in the back yard they would stop trying to nest on your house
Nothing wrong with bacon. A couple slices of bacon is probably fewer calories than the almond butter and jam. Heck, when I make bacon in the morning, the piece of BREAD I have is about the same amount of calories as the bacon. That said, the almond butter has the fats and proteins that you'd get from the bacon too.
Wow guys !! You eat "bonne Maman" fruit reserves !!! That's French good quality marmelade !!! We have the same here in France, and it's one of the most popular. Yeah ! Nobody's perfect !! I'm French ;) Cool video about a good mood week end !!
I have heavy clay in my yard as well and my plants always do better when I add iron supplements to the soil where I plant them. Just maybe 2/3x per year
do you water your plants or flowers as much? try watering them early morning and before sunset everyday and giving them plant food. home depot should have some. awesome video man you should do more Vlogs
Hey man when you come to Vegas make some time and go fishing!!! It's pretty fun and some awesome weather coming this week, lake mead or lake Mohave you can get really nice small and large mouth👊🏼
If your soil is clay, use gypsum. Just incorporate the gypsum into the bottom of the hole and the soil you use to back fill. The gypsum will change the composition of the clay.
Also to keep the birds away, we tape little action figures or toy animals in bird nest spots and it keeps them away. May sound strange but it works! Lol
+LakeForkGuy I don't know much about plants but I do keep a lot of them for my reptile and what I use to plant them in is coconut husk it's really cheap and stays moist and also Eco friendly
I'm getting the vibe that I should do another one of these...
+LakeForkGuy it was pretty entertaining to watch. Good all American weekend
I like it!
I always buy my rod sleeves to match my ladies nails. hahaha
I love you man
who makes the best rod sleeves and where can you buy them?
you are living the dream in every aspect of life.
Definitely do more of these Justin!!
I like the vlogs!! Also gotta give props for thanking the man upstairs before breakfast. It's almost becoming uncommon nowadays👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Amen brother! same reason I was gonna comment.
+GV650 same lol
Your wife made this video. She's just so nice and wholesome and American. You are a lucky man.
Great video defiantly do these more often and awesome to see you praying before your breakfast!!

Lime for the plants!

All the American Saturday duties. Good vid. Your wife is funny
Good job Justin... Your duties as a bird home destroyer are complete until next spring.
2:43 Stephanie dodges the camera xD
Love the prayer before breakfast!
Love seeing that red Rod Sox on your rod to protect it while you travel!

The best part was you guys praying over the food before you ate. 🙏🏻
Love it bro. great video and you are a lucky man
I enjoyed this vlog. you wife is as cute as they get. keep it up, very enjoyable.
Make sure you get a sun friendly plan. Mix up the soil and put some potting soil in it. Then put some fertilizer in it. Plant your plant and water it.
Good video, vlogs are fun to watch.
hahaha.... We have those birds and do the same. Great and funny VLOG.

Always have a rod in the car. Love it

Love these type of vids keep up the good work!!
Also a idea for the plants. Dig up a the clay around them and put in fertilized dirt there roots need more space to grow.
Loved the vlog! You should upload them every once in while in between all the fishing. It's a nice little change of pace.
I loved the vlog. I've been a long time subscriber and it's nice to see a little more into your life. Thanks
Keep them coming!!!!
Keep them up!! Really good for the first time
great vlog nice to finally have a fishing RUclipsr not sponsored by mommy and Daddy.

Awesome video man look forward to more vlogs when you get back from Vegas
Even though it was fast motion, lol it was cool to see you pray in this vlog, that's awesome man!

"The barn swallows are NOT happy"... lol
awesome vlog had some lols love your videos
the prayer over the food though...... GOD IS GOOD
Hey. When removing the plant from its pot, make sure to loosen the roots from the form the took in the pot ;)
These vlogs are great!
I have heavy clay in my yard as well and my plants always do better when I add iron supplements to the soil where I plant them. Just maybe 2/3x per year
Good video. You need an Adventures In Fishing coffee mug. Lol.
Amend the clay soil with organic components of soil. Or go to is peat moss. Add then till it in.
I’m couple of towns over and have same exact problem
Get a small tripod for the GoPro so your angles are up a little more and def have an outtro. Keep it up Justin
keep doing these theyre great
you have to put nutrient rich garden soil under it. the roots won't be able to grow in Clay. so I recommend putting it in good soil.
Just watch it again in 2017 and yes you should do more of these.
I love these vlogs. also can't wait for you to have kids.
YEEYEE!
Keep the stache, man. GIG 'EM!
Please do these more often u just put me in a awesome mood
Odd but I tend to enjoy your daily lifestyle chores Vlog more than some of your fishing clips. "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!?"
This was so cool to see you vloging!
lol your wife when you drank that vitaman stuff was coming in and was like WHOOP change direction lol
Love the vlogs keep it up!!!!
hey i have a tip to keep those plans alive, leave them at the store lol
As for the plants.. you can dig up the clay 3 tines as wide and deep as the size of the plant... then replace it with a plant friendly soil...
I really like the vlogs! Keep it up!
As everyone else is saying, you are one lucky man! Lol. Awesome video bro. Keep vlogging. 👍🏻
That was a snake shed. The snake itself is still lurking around your house. Most probably eating the fig jam and shit
LMAO!!!hahahaha!!!!!
Anything but the fig jam!
But figs are amazing ;-;
Double Moustache exactly why the snake is in the fig jam right now muching away.
Looks like the best advice for the plants.....leave them at LOWES. Thanks for the vid!
LFG.......You, Are A Rich Man. GOD Bless You And Your Family. O-;-)
The old school reference cracked me up!
I like the moustache!
Loved it!
do you water your plants or flowers as much? try watering them early morning and before sunset everyday and giving them plant food. home depot should have some. awesome video man you should do more Vlogs

Camera work was awesome man would love to see some more vlogs
Great video!

awesone vlog should do more of it :)
hey honestly get about 300 lbs of good ol Midwest river bottom dirt and plant in that. it'll grow great. great vid's man
Also to keep the birds away, we tape little action figures or toy animals in bird nest spots and it keeps them away. May sound strange but it works! Lol
Awesome vid bro!! Dig it
Love these Vlogs man!
+LakeForkGuy I don't know much about plants but I do keep a lot of them for my reptile and what I use to plant them in is coconut husk it's really cheap and stays moist and also Eco friendly
may sound dumb but if you put tied soap with water on those plants once a month, they will survive.
Tip: don't over water the plants, clay retains water well so a little water lasts a while. I like the vlog!
haha awesome video.
Btw you should make some salt water kayak videos also showing us some pointers on trout flounder and red/black drum bro would be so cool !
I love episodes like this hahahaha
Do more of these they are good
Great VLOG
"summers basically here" haha wish I could say that in Illinois.
KEEP VLOGING!!!!
get a tiller and while you are tilling mix in top soil and use woodchips it helps weeds not grow
Great vid.
Nice Video...could you do another video on how to skip the lure in the water please
I had this idea....you should have your wife Stephanie and Bamabass wife Liz have a bass tournament lmao that would be cool! Do it!
