  • In this video i show you the results of using the TTArtisans 40mm Macro f 2.8 lens for portraits. Ive used the 7Artisans counterpart and that was a good lens for the price but i have to say this macro does it better!

Good to have you back with awesome portraits, bro! The 60mm equivalent focal length works great for you methinks!
I have owned a Tamron 90mm lens for ages and don't like it. It has such a tedious perfection! Later I got the manual focus Samyang f1.4 85mm and love it. Even if it's for Nikon F- mount, so no focus help is available. Likely I am far less demanding if it comes to image quality.
MF, have you tried Fuji's virtual split level viefinder setting! Focus peaking never works precisely. Split level is what most pros used before autofocus. Fast & precise. Better with more luminous glass

Hey man! Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. Yea the 90mm im not sure id be a fan of either! That is quite tight focal length!
Thanks for the tip of the split level. Ill have to try that next to really see if i can nail more sharp photos. MF lenses really do make it a lot of fun and a more intimate experience with taking photos. Makes you stop and take a second to really make sure youre doing everything correctly haha.

the Tamron & Tokina 90 macro are optically identical but w/ different cosmetics ; the latter being more handsome. The Tamron is very sharp , high contrast & can be problematic under harsh lighting.
Within a couple of hours 2 subjects came to pose on front lawn of mit, a rabbit & a wounded pigeon.
Shot in b&w under very harsh pm sun, that was in mid 80's & that tamron belonged to a friend.
The Zeiss 60 for Contax found its most use in copying old works for a late friend, a forensic pathologist/ medical examiner. For every shot I had to pop flash 3 times by hand to ensure even expo.
The flash was used for feathering to avoid reflection. The flash survived, so did the flash meter.
I bought the TT40 macro together w/ the 25mm f/2. 6 months ago. Have had lots of fun w/ the 25 which has replaced an excellent 40 f/2 m-mount on a aps-c body for convenience of 38mm. Will start w/ TT40 soon, but then it'd become a 60 equivalent. That's ok, like old time.

Fantastic photos! You got a new sub.
    Why were shooting iso 250?
Is it because it’s a macro lens?
Thanks in advance for your answer?

Thank you so much for watching and subbing! Really appreciate the support.
I was shooting at 250 because it was a pretty bright day and a lot of the shots were at f2.8 so to keep my shutter fast and where i wanted it to be iso 250 worked perfectly :)

I have this lens and it really is very hard to focus for portraits. The focus throw is optimized for macro distance and there is not much left between 1m and infinity.

It is tough indeed but not impossible! and when you nail it, its pretty dang sharp right?

@@AceNoguera Yes. Sharpness is very good.
