    Could you explain what the practical difference would be between two lenses with the same focal lengths but different magnification ratios? They would be have the same field of view, but would the subject appear differently from lens to lens? People say higher magnification ratios are better, but I’m struggling to understand how it makes a difference outside of macro photography

      Can you elaborate a little bit ? Usually macro magnification is related to - macro photography. Higher magnification means being able to photograph the subject from much closer, so you get a smaller minimal focusing distance. Do you have examples of two lenses that you are trying to compare ? If you tell me which ones you are looking at, and what are you aiming to achieve I could probably help you better.

    the ratio is X:Y, let X: object size in camera and let Y: object size in real life (IRL) ... as long x
