Just give us the Static Shock movie, DC. It was your most popular show that didn't feature Batman and Superman on a regular basis, just make the movie and you'll get money.
Khalid Abdirisaq Actually, in his more recent comics, Virgil was a pretty popular guy in school. I don't think racism would a big factor in a potential movie.
As a black fan of his show, was there something off about this video to you? I don't know what it is, but something about his delivery didn't feel right when compared to his other stuff. Maybe it's just me
he's not used to the slang in the static comics that's why why he sounds uncomfortable. It's all good tho keep it up this is great been waiting for someone to do static right.
They should really do more Static stories. At the very least, do what they did with Batman Beyond, and just continue his story from the end of the cartoon series.
Honestly I'm not sure DC has clue of what to do with any minority characters. Cyborg book is basically soulless much like the character in general now since DC want s him to be more machine than man when it's been the opposite for years. Only minority character that seems to be written right currently is New Super-Man though I feel if he wasn't basically a Superman clone DC wouldn't care
i want to give u a billion likes but u get my point. the flash is my favourite character of all time followed by static. i rmb watching it everyday on cartoon network when i was a kid
yeah.. he saved the justice leagues ass once and they never even offered him a spot on the team....I guess their was room for only 2 black guys at the time.
I looked into it, but Im pretty sure there was no origin in it it was just another story about the character. A lot of the series that didnt get canceled had their origins in a series called Secret Origins but since his series didnt make it I dont think they got around to it.
New 52 doesn't really go into his origin, it was one of those titles that let you assume what you knew kind of just happened the way it did unless there was a detail or two specifically mentioned to be different...which is weird because there are times you aren't sure which continuity it's taking from. For the most part it seems to be the old school origin, but with a twist that shortly after establishing himself in Dakota he moves for an internship/scholarship working at S.T.A.R. Labs and as such has upgraded his gear to have a lot more tech based weaponry, and his powers are expanding. His arm get cut off in one of the first few issues and he reattaches/heals it to his own amazement. His relationship with his dad is reminiscent to the TV show, but his mom is still alive...also his sister was cloned and they never really explain how, but they deal with it a lot. Maybe it's something from a previous Static title. All in all it's one of those books you want to like because it's Static and there are some cool ideas, but there's not enough to outweigh the bad. Pacing and tone is all over the place, it's not really a book a new reader can jump into, a mentorship angle that never gets explored, not nearly enough is explained, Static deals almost nothing with his own cast and characters outside the occasional text to Frieda and the interactions with his family. There's a bit about how he has connections with Red Robin but it's not clear if it was part of Red Robin having info on all the teen metas or if they had actually worked together in the past.
Does that mean that there's going to be a static shock revival? No, but if we spread this rumor around enough than it might happen. He also might end up with a guest appearance on Teen Titans Go, but I will say that it's worth the risk.
Great video!! I would love to see more Staic stories, like It was said in the comic explained video that Static was a Teen Titan in some point. Can you do Static story where he was a Titan??? That would be cool.
I'm also curious about that, and what was the "Darkseid club" that Static was fighting before being a Titan. I really think that Static would be awesome in the new Teen Titans book!!
Before he was a Titan in Static's own book in the 90s. Superman, Batman, and DC proper all together were comic book characters in Static's universe. Even though Milestone comics were printed by DC comics they were there own separate universe until infinite crisis
Static also has a lot of cameo spots in the Fresh Prince of Bel Air. When Will and Carlton move into the pool house if you look at the entrance of the house there is a picture of him, Icon, Hardware, and other Milestone Comic book characters.
the Static Shock animated show was my JAM!!! The episode where he goes back in time to save his mother is as good, if not better than the season 1 finale of The Flash.
As much as I love Statics mom in the animated series, despite her very short time shown, seeing his mom act like this in the comic makes me sad and appreciate the AS even more. She really had the motherly feel that the comic one just simply doesn't give.
You should still read the comic, I agree the cartoon was better but the comic was geared towards adults and it dealt with very real and sometimes graphic issues.
I think with Static Shock i got really into electricity. Like the thought of controlling it like Virgil does is just so awesome. His powers are my all time favorite for that.
I kinda like the show setup better. A little more complex, with the gang recruiting him/protecting him, and seeming like role models. But also having his father be such a strong role model in contrast. It showed him and us both how to fight to be good in a world that isn't on your side, and how people fall into the system.
The Blood Syndicate comics actually explain what the BigBang gas is and what it did to the gangsters and policemen who were at the riot. The Blood Syndicate are also a pretty cool super hero team in their own right so maybe they'd be a cool squad to feature
Also its called the "big bang". If you look in the background theres a girl with brick skin. Shes part of a team called the blood syndicate who were also there during the big bang. Same universe as Icon too. Til DC bought them out and buried half the characters.
Pretty dope man thanks! Always wondered how the real origin was. Can you do Blade? I haven't seen you do any Blade comics but maybe I haven't looked hard enough. Thanks for all the great content comicstorian!
Comicstorian there was a 45 issue series by Milestone which included cross overs with the other 3 major titles from milestone and a crossover with the Superman family. Static was and could have been DC's Spider-Man equivalent
So basically the same as the tv series only it was a waste gas explosion caused by the shootout not grenades from the police. Makes a bit more sense if you ask me and a primary foil in the form of the superhuman company they traced the waste gas to.
"I'm static and I'm gonna put a shock in your system "
I don't die just reborn
giggity
"Put a shock in your sister"
Existential Error 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@CosmicErrata 💀💀
Just give us the Static Shock movie, DC. It was your most popular show that didn't feature Batman and Superman on a regular basis, just make the movie and you'll get money.
It would make a lot of money
A black boy dealing with racism who get power it would be a unique superhero movie
In this cinematic and cultural environment, it'd sell like hotcakes!
+Khalid Abdirisaq that's exactly why the white supremacists will NEVER make the movie
DC won't make it cause they love receiving L's for the movies (trash) they currently make...
Khalid Abdirisaq Actually, in his more recent comics, Virgil was a pretty popular guy in school. I don't think racism would a big factor in a potential movie.
As a black fan of your show thank you
i agree
Same lol
As a black fan of his show, was there something off about this video to you? I don't know what it is, but something about his delivery didn't feel right when compared to his other stuff. Maybe it's just me

same here man!!
STATIC SHOCK!!
Dear god that brings back

The comics started first and the show chanced too much.
Milestone is coming back
hew ooks Previews were supposed to be out by Summer 2016, still nothing so I'm not very optimistic on that claim at this point
Thank you so much for bringing back so many childhood memories.
soo much nostalgia in that opening song
Awesome!!! Thanks for doing this!! I would love to see more of Static!!
it really is disappointing that this awesome character has been out of the spot light for so long
wow the one thing that could have actually brought him back into the lime light and they cancel it right when it was getting really good
honesty90 hell reboot the justice league animated universe while you're at it
People who know of kiteman likely haven't heard of static shock
Him and Batman Beyond
fingers crossed we see him in injustice 2
with hope
Well he was a challenge character in the mobile game... so theres a chance
if he is in the game instant preorder just take my money
MrDaxtenmaxwell
i think in honour of Martin Luther King day the next character reveal will be him.
Unfortunately he was cut from injustice 2 likley because of licening problems with Milestone comics in ths DC universe.
I thought it was a re-upload but Comics Explained made a static shock video yesterday xD.
Confused me for a second as well haha
Yeah, what's up with that? I thought the same for a second
they had a bet on the pull so they both put up a static video
Lmao, me too !
FLUXX840 cuz they are friends in real life
static shock 2nd best hero with number 1 being Flash
are you my brother?
i want to give u a billion likes but u get my point. the flash is my favourite character of all time followed by static. i rmb watching it everyday on cartoon network when i was a kid
Iam with u all the way on that one
Nah Kyle Rayner is baller
+sai co what about me
I used to watch the animated series...
Brings back memories.
That show brings back so many childhood memories
I love that show!!!
yeah.. he saved the justice leagues ass once and they never even offered him a spot on the team....I guess their was room for only 2 black guys at the time.
Not true. They just took their sweet time until after Terry McGuiness was serving as Batman.
Nicely done B, much appreciated for covering the origins.
I really want to go back and read these older comics from this series. They really seem awesome.
This....this most definitely needs to be in rebirth
Honestly. One of my favorite hero's.
The fact everyone is have nostalgia makes me happy. I instantly thought of the theme song when I song the upload
I feel old... Way back in 93...
Watched this show every Saturday.
the comic was in 93 the show was 2001
+GYM-SOCK-N64 the show came way after the actual comics
Bunny Rabbit I know that. I was there.
I love static shock and I feel like he's a bit underated to dc
DIG FOR THEM DIGGGGG!!! Also I love this channel thanks for doing this OG story.
You making this video says A LOT ABOUT you Benny... Thank you for this
The Static is my favorite teenage superhero, i even put his picture on my profile!
Eid Mubarak everyone, God bless y'all

Thnx
Eid Mubarak to u to bro
the flying spaghetti monster shall smite thee for referencing his younger brothers name.
Take that mess elsewhere.
Thank You so much for this amazing origin story! Memories!!!!!!
I was curious about the new 52 origin
I looked into it, but Im pretty sure there was no origin in it it was just another story about the character. A lot of the series that didnt get canceled had their origins in a series called Secret Origins but since his series didnt make it I dont think they got around to it.
+Comicstorian thanks for such great videos and always keeping me entertained

The new 52 Static sucked...
+JAC 073 About her sister being cloned, did that ever happen in his solo series? or has some storyarc related with clones?
Please make more static videos
i would love to see more on static shock, those comics bring me back.
STATIC WAS MAH HOMIE back in the day. He should really be in a movie. Man, I'd love to see that. Him and Gear were the best!
I have waited a long time for this one... good job!!
Thanks for giving static shock his shine he was my favorite as a kid

I love that you added the them music from the show so mucj
I couldn't help myself when I heard that song I started crying from memories
I LOVED Static Shock as a kid, I hope we get more from the series soon :)
Static is still one of my favorite DC Comic characters. Even after his show ended. It was great they added him in Young Justice later.
i love static shock man do more please.
PLZ do more Static storyies! Love this character
AAAAYYYYEEE THAT THEME SONG!!!!!! damn what a throwback
First Comics Explained makes a video about Static and now Comicstorian! Yes!
Does that mean that there's going to be a static shock revival?
No, but if we spread this rumor around enough than it might happen. He also might end up with a guest appearance on Teen Titans Go, but I will say that it's worth the risk.
*then
Varient released a video too.
More is needed for a true understanding.
The tv show theme in the intro --- Nostalgic af😆
Great video!!

static shock is one of my favorite cartoons. please do more.
Static also has a lot of cameo spots in the Fresh Prince of Bel Air. When Will and Carlton move into the pool house if you look at the entrance of the house there is a picture of him, Icon, Hardware, and other Milestone Comic book characters.
i love static definitely one of my favorites
By far one of the dopest DC characters! How about a black lightning one next or maybe Mr Terrific?
static shock was one of my favorite shows as a youngin'!
it's finally time I've been waiting for this
the Static Shock animated show was my JAM!!!
The episode where he goes back in time to save his mother is as good, if not better than the season 1 finale of The Flash.
The theme song for the Static Shock Cartoon was hotter than the Sun.
I remember when they did a crossover with batman the animation series love that episode so much
thank u I've been wait 4 these my favorite hero
I like static shock he's one of my favorite superheroes I hope you bring back more stories of static shock
I miss the tv series.
Thanks for putting my favorite theme
i would love to hear more static stories
anyone else remember the cartoon for this? it was awesome
If they make a Teen Titans movie, Static Shock should be in the roster. I would recommend Donald Glover play him, I think that would be cool.
But Static is not even a famous titan he was honestly just a member not seen or used much.
A solo film is needed first
Kon- el is right they didn't use him right at all plus Donald Glover is too old for the part
Which is why they are sometimes called the Titans
Yeah that is used for the veteran and older members of the team mainly the originals and the 80s version. Static isn't an adult nor a veteran member.
I EFFING LOVE💛❤️💕💗💜STATIC SHOCK
Static Shock on the CW!
Thanks man was looking forward to it 😁✌️
I would love to see more of Static
Best tv show ever
They really should do more with static shock, I mean he's pretty slept on but has a lot of potential to be an amazing superhero
Yess!!!! thank you!! please more Static Shock

He was my first favorite superhero
WHOOP WHOOP....Sorry I love that song

I remember watching the show all the time
The Blood Syndicate comics actually explain what the BigBang gas is and what it did to the gangsters and policemen who were at the riot. The Blood Syndicate are also a pretty cool super hero team in their own right so maybe they'd be a cool squad to feature
One of my favorite characters!
This theme song is LIT

THAT FUCKING OPENING OMG MY NOSTALIGIA!!!!!!
Also its called the "big bang". If you look in the background theres a girl with brick skin. Shes part of a team called the blood syndicate who were also there during the big bang. Same universe as Icon too. Til DC bought them out and buried half the characters.

As it stands they are trying to make Blue Beetle into that role.

this a great origin and everybody can somewhat relate
SUPER HEROOOOOO STATIC SHOCK (OU OU)
