I have worked on my White starter in the past and with the solenoid too, always seems to be a little hiccup somewhere with them. I enjoy your snip-it's of sayings, they keep this ole feller tickled. I know how some days are , just can't catch a break , the misery drags on , could lay in the road and not get hit , jump off a cliff miss the quicksand and land in a soft mudhole , careful about how I dress and hope I chose the luck outfit for the day , same outfit I wore last day when things went well and I went to bed with a smile and not the frown , but you just persevere along and enjoy the small victories as they come , might not look good now but you will be victorious over that dang starter , Hang in there all is not lost !! Good attitude and patience and you will prevail , Good Job Ross and God Bless 😊🤣

Nice video Ross. Really bites when you have to take the starter off again. Hopefully you will have better luck with a new one. Anything with an electrical terminal bites to me. But we all know you will get the ole girl started again. Good luck.
Hi Ross your video from yesterday is no longer available. I seen it was up had to run an errand, when I got back it was gone.
I just had to have the starter in my Farmall 856 rebuilt. Thankfully we have an awesome local auto-electric shop. Turned out both bushings had gone out, and the armature was rubbing on the case.. Got the contact disc nice and toasty. He tested the armature, expecting it to be bad, but it checked out, so $90 for two new bushings, a new solenoid, plus the testing and labor.. And I was good to go.
Your sadness is catching. I had an electrical failure in the tractor's electric PTO. And at the same time, the cable clamp on the lift cable decided to not clamp.
Back into the shop, repaired the failed crimped connector I found, and clamped the heck out of the lift cable. Backed it out of the shop to try it and found the PTO switch was bad. I have another one that can be adapted to work but that is for tomorrow. You can have your sadness back as I have a lot of sickle bar mowing to be done.
Nice part of living in glacier country is that you can try and make sure that a tractor with a bad starter gets parked on the hill

I started watching when I was working on my 1250 and you where working on the 1450 now I’m watching while I’m working on my 1450 while your working on your 1250 😂 I have 2 1250 diesels and 2 1450s one ampli couple and one non ampli couple. I’m putting one of each together the way they came from the factory and the other 2 are going to get engine conversions done to them. I need to learn to record things more.
when I was in germany 1969 1972 My friends who owned fiats walked a lot always starter or alt problems, they were made by an illegitmate child of lucas known as the prince of darkness goodluck Ross.
Looks like the brushes are stuck . They should have pushed out. Check to see if they slide easily in there holders and the springs are good .
Doom despair and agony on me deep dark depression excessive misery if it weren’t for bad luck I’d have no luck at all ……

I had a similar situation with a Volvo haul truck. The starter worked great off the motor, but would not work on the engine. Drove me nuts. Turns out there was an issue with the starter internally. Electrical components will drive you crazy!!
That's the dilemma with things that haven't been used for a long time.... Working out some kinks and some kinks break. It's a heck of a bummer but Francesca just needs a little more of a makeover.
Brushes are worn out it will free run and test go but under a load there isn’t enough to turn over and the arm look bad.
Need to check the voltage when you try starting.

Ross, I've had a starter that had just a slight amount of rust on the inside and that was enough to kill the starter. Ended up having it rewound and rebuilt. I do know if the nose cone is wrong, it will mess things up... badly.
i had a starter from a case backhoe3e did the samething wouldnt work on the tractor but bench tested fine took it to a starter shop and in fact the starter was in fact bad complete rebuild 200dollars later had a working starter,

Who makes the handy light tester.
nice little tractor but seems like you have had problems starting that tractor a different starter may make the difference

😮😮 HI ROSS IVE seen tractor starters like that be 4 usually when they click click that's it there are done then its worrysome all of the time ⌚ 😮 and U will get tired 😴 😮 of it it's better off 2 take the tractor 🚜 😮 stater 2 the shop and have it ebuilt because they fix them all of the time ⌚😊 OMG 9 18 2O24

I know the switch didn't work but did you try the screwdriver test, shorting over the terminals to see if it was the switch or the starter?
The brushes on starter are stuck or worn out.

It's a mystery. Funny how that happens when you think you're making progress. For no reason, out of the blue, something goes wrong. Just grab a shovel, it will be fine. See you later. Thanks for the video.
