Finally, after centuries of waiting, you have returned to Rome and Rome 2! You were my number one Rome 2 multiplayer commentator. I have waited for this moment for ages! The heir is back in business. :)
Hey Heir, I wanted to let you know that I've been consistently watching your videos since 2011. I was around 15 years old then, and I'm 27 now. In that time, I finished high school, got a degree, bought a house, got married, and now plan on starting a family with my wife. It's crazy to think how much time has passed. Thank you for the consistent content over the years. It will be a sad day when you stop making videos. ❤ - Owen from Ireland
Thanks for all the years! I have had a lot of changes too, graduated college, took my first job after school, got married, had to kids, bought a house. Times have changed but I still love the old games!
Clicked this as soon as I saw it! you and your vids have been keeping me company for a very long time Heir, glad to see you back leading your rightful kingdom
I may try to look at it. Depends on how much they improved things. The Rome 2 campaign was super frustrating and had tons of game crashes too last time I tried.
Heir the reason they released this remaster was because the old version of Rome is having issues running on todays hardware, so they decided to remaster this game and it probably was not in the plans to do additional new content to be added to the game. So they updated the game from 32 bit to 64 bit, which improves stability massively.
Heir! Awesome to see some rome 1 content! Ive been subscribed since you had only around 100 subs and were using fraps! Haha good times! I was never a fan of warhammer and so didnt watch much of that content from you, but Ill take your word for it that warhammer 3 is amazing. Hope you and family is well, had to do a double take that this was a new video when it showed up in my feed hahaha
Broooo, I was a teenager sitting in my room the last time I I saw you play the old games, Pretty sure you were one of the first guys I consistently watched gameplay on youtube from. I´m 31 with a house now xD
Shogun was so well made that it holds up even after all these years later and can run along side wh3 easily in terms of fun. All shogun 2 needs is some polish and it would be a perfect game.
I can't remember for sure, but I believe Rome Remastered incorporates some of the changes from the original Barbarian Invasion expansion... if so, then there is one sneaky advantage that Iberian Infantry have that is easy to overlook -- *they can swim* which enables them to cross rivers outside of shallow crossing points, and you can use them as an effective flanking force in some river battles because they can choose where they want to cross while heavier units are locked into bridges or shallows
Oh man we’re back! It feels like coming home. I’m looking forward to this campaign. I do desperately wish we had a new good historical Total War title. I still play some Rome 2 on occasion, but it is clunky these days.
@@HeirofCarthage Absolutely! If they could make each faction have a unique roster like they did in WH. While also having an overhaul of general and commander abilities, I think it could compensate for the lack of magic.
i love that u returned to an historical game. its annoyed me that total war seems unable to make good historical games anymore since getting into fantasy .
I heard a rumor that CA was supposedly working on a Star wars Total war game. I don't know if this is true but I remember seeing it on a Disney Star wars road map
Heir, as a fan of yours and as someone who had been playing Total War since Shogun the original... I hope you give Pharoah a second chance with the Dynasties update. It is a genuinely a great historical title now. Very solid. To each his own, but I do hope you give it a go at least.
Normally I would give Pharaoh a chance, but my time for games is very short these days. From what I played on launch, unless they did something to make the battles very engaging then I don't think there is much that would bring me back. The time period is uninteresting for me too. I don't doubt they improved it, but not sure it would be worth my time still.
I'll say that Pharaoh after the update really is quite good, and actually a challenge - but if you have 0 interest in the time period it's probably not going to be particularly fun. I do personally find it very hard to go back to the older TWs, and Pharaoh/3K are the two historical ones where I have more fun these days.
I might be mistaken but I think the autoresolve depended on your generals level. The better the general the better the autoresolve treats you. I seem to remember full star generals were way better than I was when autoresolves in beginning of game were treating me as crap. Could be wrong impression of course I was 17 when i played it most
I think that they need to keep the Fantasy stuff about the battles and empire running secondary, and with Warhammer they have kept empire running simple. But for historical I think they have to keep the empire running complex and going with long term planning with large maps and many states and territories in order to keep OG fans interested.
Its weird, I could never get into warhammer 3. I unsubscribed from almost all total war channels that got stuck on warhammer. With legend I preferred and enjoyed his medieval 2 stuff a lot more. And I absolutely enjoyed some of your commentary on shogun 2 that was so epic. I still play medieval 2 and shogun myself sometimes, even Rome 1. Too bad POM also got inactive but it does make sense. Maybe should consider playing modded.
@HeirofCarthage awesome. I just saw a video of yours battling him. It's been so long since I last saw your videos. I forgot you mentioned you played him before. It's so cool that you guys met. Hopefully, all is well 🙏
It's funny...when I first started following you pre-Rome 2 era, you were the Shogun gamer! But then Warhammer came out and you really left historical titles.
I did. Warhammer Total War is way better for me than Historical. CA is going to have to pull off something really special to change my mind on it. But I do still love these classic titles.
Hey Heir! It's been a while my dude. Nice to see a return to the older formula with these videos, I'll be watching this campaign for sure! On a separate note, I'm working on a bit of a video project discussing the state of TW, and would love to have your involvement. Please let me know how I can get in touch to discuss this further! (I do believe we have each other on Steam) Anyway, looking forward to hearing back from you :)
I'll add my voice to the Pharaoh chorus and just say it's the first Total War in a long, looong time that reminds me of the Rome 1 and Med 2 days, and I grew up with those games.
3k and Pharaoh share the same problem in my opinion. they look good, they have lots of cool new features, good UI...but lack and real exciting battles. Now that said...the battles in this old game are lackluster too. Warhammer 3 is way better than any other Total War game in my opinion. It has more factions, more map, more interesting and meaningful battles, plus tons of mods too. I am glad you are enjoying 3k and Pharaoh...I sure wish I could, but they just don't do it for me.
This interface is not improved, it's way worse than the original. Huge ui elements, tiny text, spilt into multiple parts. The only interface element that I consider an actual improvement over the original is the appraisal of the acceptability of the deal in the diplomacy screen.
