Wait. Danymok’s mod is compatible with ahowl’s map? Because it’s the only reason I don’t play the map; using Danymok’s units is a necessity for me these days! I wonder, does this mean the Barbarian Engineering mod is compatible too, because that’s built off Danymok’s mod. Now I really want to load up a game and see how they work!
@@stevencass8849 Danymok's mod doesn't work with Ahowl's map for me. It says in the launcher there's a conflict with the two, and I can't start any campaigns as a result.
Thanks Andy! When I released the Map it really was just for a modding resource, and a pre-cursor to the port of ahowl11s Vanilla Enhancement Mod. I didn't know it would end up being so much fun in it's own right! Glad you are enjoying it and thanks for the video! Leading RIS (with the awesome members of the team) and trailblazing to basically push RR to its limits is fun, but I too will never lose my interest for the smaller and simpler scale of what RR is and what can be done to spice it up without ruining the original feel. Also, I just wanna make a shout out to the Roma Surrectum 2 team who made the base map that I used. All I did was overhaul the regions to my liking based on my own research and desire to enhance each vanilla faction :)
It's great stuff. I tried a Roman campaign though and just going to have to wait until they get to that part of the map. Only rebels there. And, like, they wouldn't even attack me by leaving their settlement. So every battle was just a siege battle. It's fun if you play in Greece though. Or Anatolia.
I recently started playing Total War games again. Haven't done so in years. I chose to do this return with the original RTW. I'll give RTW Remastered a try soon after running a campaign or two. Make my way towards Shogun 2 and relive Creative Assembly's glory days.
Do any of these mods put the General in the middle of the formation? Got spoiled to that in newer Total Wars. Great video I'll have to check these out they look like a good way to spice up the game.
If anything I'd say the map in the base game is fine in terms of size. If anything I tend to find the game rather boring by the time you get to the mid or late game in most campaigns because you eventually reach a point where the computer lacks any ability to really check your empire's growth as far as military expansion is concerned. Though I suppose part of that is because the computer tends to be both less aggressive than a human player would be and is also rather dumb at times. In a VH/H campaign I'm doing as the Brutii, I'm currently scratching my head over the fact the Scipii have over 60 units stationed near Capua. Admittedly there probably pretty messed up from me expanding into Syracuse and Carthage, but you think the senate would have either sent them to Iberia or Egypt at some point as they built up multiple full army stacks. They even have another full army worth just sitting in Sicily. Though I'm still kicking myself a bit over being beaten to the Statue of Zeus by the Scipii. I got a little too distracted taking other parts of Greece and Africa. And am currently involved in wars with Spain, Carthage, Pontus, Thrace, and Numidia. Admittedly Carthage and Numidia are kind of non-threats at this point. In the case of Carthage they only have on settlement left in Iberia and I'm about to siege Numidia's capital. And I seriously doubt Numidia is going to put up a major fight from those two garbage settlements in the middle of nowhere. I suppose they could rise again from Siwa, but I doubt Numidia can beat the forces of Egypt without help from the player. And Thrace never expanded past their starting settlements. In fact, I kicked off that war to ensure I was the one who got Byzantium first.
Look at how those phalanx pikemen are attacking at 0:14 - that animation looks straight out of Rome 1, but the models and textures are all from Rome 2 - can anyone explain this pls? :)
Dude there's a map mod for Shogun 2 with Europe, Middle East, North Africa and India, but in the 6 months since its release, nobody seems to have made a Rome or Medieval or Napoleon mod. What's happening?
I loved, and hated this game because no matter how I tried to calm dissent my cities would always revolt at the worst possible times forcing me to divert troops away from battles, and thereby losing progress made as the enemy would suddenly appear with massive armies pulled from thin air I imagine. Gaul two cities left, then suddenly twenty armies are at my doorstep.. how? Even with scouts watching the borders, massive armies suddenly emerge from out of nowhere.. I think I managed to win win once, and conquered the Senate.
UI is game braker for me. I am so sory it looks like this. I do not understan it. It is like they wanted it to look as shity as posible. Can't belive stil. IS THERE MOD TO CHANGE UI?????

Yes even with my bronze age mod which has like 900 Provinces so far, that in no way makes in a good mod, if anything I should persevere to make it a good mod despite the provincial hurdle.
It does, when the problem ypu are trying to solve is "the map is too small". I'm not saying that the rest of the mod isn't incredibly important for the enjoyment of the mod, but the increased map ABSOLUTELY makes the game better all by itself. In OG rome any experienced player can conquer the whole map in a few hours. You barely have time to get really into it before its over. So having a map where defeating Carthage or conquering Greece or Gaul are, by themselves, longer campaigns than taking the whole map in vanilla is absolutely an improvement.
