Lionheart, when you get rifle troops you must call one unit "Sharpe's Rifles" and another unit "Chosen Men" and a unit of red coat's "The South Essex" in honour of our favourite swashbuckling hero! Great stuff! 🇬🇧⚔️🇬🇧
One big tip for Empire that was easy to forget, (at least for me); you need to upgrade trade ports to export more quantities of goods from your colonies, as well as being able to have more trade partners in your home region.
Your Great Britain Darthmod series was how I found this channel so I'm pumped for this series. Empire is certainly up there as one of my top Total War games. Had a mild crisis when you mentioned the Darthmod series was 11 years ago.
Same here dude. This series popped up on RUclips when I was first discovering the Total War series in general and it hit me that the month I graduated high school was the very first episode of that series
I love this and so glad Empire is back! The early TW games were hugely important to me. Like many fans I was left cold by Warhammer and then frustrated by the regression and lack of ambition in the newer historical games. I loved when we were all young and playing Medievel 2 for 1000s of hours and then watching some university student called Lionheart uploading episodes in between exams and lectures. They were the true glory days. That era of Med 2, Rome 2, Shogun 2 and Empire really was the peak of TW, we just didn't realise it at the time.
@@Then9002 I remember being disappointed in Rome 2 on release and going back and playing Rome 1. It was much more enjoyable despite the dated graphics, still think that Rome 1 was one of the best TWs.
glory fall upon you, oh elated one. may the sun never set upon the vastness of your empire. i too remember the olden days gone by, when i would wait all week for lion to upload the OG darthmod series. i would download it at school onto my phone and watch it at home because we had no wifi out in the country yet. i recently rewatched the whole series again earlier this year. many thanks for this dose of nostalgia today
Absolutely STOKED for this. I remember staying up late on middle school nights just to watch the original series long ago. Thanks for being awesome Lionheart
I was literally in the process of re-watching the og GB ETW:DM campaign, I had no idea what this was coming but hell yeah! Going to be tuned in all the way through for this one!!
Funny story, I just finished rewatching your original Darthmod GB campaign! Can't believe it's been 11 years since then! I've always enjoyed your Empire series and that one was one of favorites. Looking forward to some Empire 2 action!
Hello Mr. LH, Sir! I look forward to this campaign! It has been too long since Empire has been premiered on your channel. Trade and defending Trade is king in this game as I recall. You will need to be building an Indiamen every turn as I recall. Wipe out the Carribean Pirates is the first few moves I should think, then the risks to your trading fleets are drastically reduced. Love this content!🍻
Over 11 years since the Darthmod British campaign? I remember watching it when it came out...feel old now!!! I am definitely interested in seeing you play this new mod. Might make me go back to Empire myself!
Pure nostalgia, I'll be honest. I used to watch your videos back when I was in my late teens, and I just turned 30 a month ago. Wild, I'll give it a watch just for the hell of it.
Your Great Britain empire series was the first let’s play I ever watched, it’s what got me into total war, and I’ve followed your channel ever since. I’m so happy you’ve come back to historical total war and I can’t wait for the next episode
I remember the first videos I watched of yours, back 11 years ago, your content has helped me through some low times and find my spark for historical fantasies ( book coming soon) so don't mind me doing more letters from home on this one too. Thank you lionheart and good luck
Nothing quite like a big dose of nostalgia to start the week. Popped up in my recommended feed and brought back so many fun memories of playing TW and watching your videos when I wasn’t playing myself… so glad to see you’re still producing content all these years later!
Now, I understand you focus on CK3 and Warhammer, but this and KCD are why I subscribed. I was never able to get into CK3, though I did try it. Warhammer, I'm afraid does nothing for me at all. That said. you play what you want and I'll watch what I want and we should all be happy.
I remember finding your videos in 2012 and buying this game because of it. I didn't have a gaming PC so I overclocked the hell out of my laptop with no graphic card. I put about 1200 hours into Empire on Darthmod over the next 3 years and never really played it after that, but this video is bringing back all the nostalgia.
Looking forward to seeing how you make out in this lets play. First time suggesting and I think a unit named after a battalion from my home city would be fun to see. Royal Winnipeg Rifles or the Little Black Devils. A military history that dates from the 1885 North West Rebellion all the way to Afghanistan in the 2000's.
Let’s go! I don’t believe I have ever seen this TW before. As a Historian, I hope I get to enjoy some cool bits from the game as you are going along. Eager to see if you enjoy the mod, since in the past you’ve spoken often about how the base game is broken or has major issues.
@@lionheartx10 how long does the game go? I looked online for the base game but only saw “18th century.” Does it stop with the French Revolution? Go into those years? Can you keep going into the mid-19th century?

I love this game! This is by far one of my favorite total war games. I loved having my extremely experienced troops invading India or the America's hell 3ven Europe 😂
I love this I’ve been playing so much empire lately with the pirate Uber alles mod. Now I might get sucked back in another 40 hours with this mod noooo
Holy cow has it been 11 years since the Darthmod campaign! Still remember that campaign, was one of the first series I saw from you. If there is room I would love a line infantry named Wallner’s Wikings
I got the giggles when you did change your prime minister. The picture of Benedict Thorne is taken from a painting of the swedish inventor Christopher Polhem with a filter over 😁
That bit at the end about the seeds is amazing. You could, potentially, bring back extinct species of flower/plants back to life if you find some viable seeds.
Oh man. I only saw the announcement of this series this morning and was immediately pumped. As for a unit suggestion, none of my Empire GB campaigns are complete with the **13th Foot "The Black Cats"**
Enjoying the news campaign my suggestion is to take out the pirate nation in the carribean as it make ur trade ship access to the ivory cost etc more easier plus staging port and bases for explanation into south and central America nations
@@lionheartx10 keep making total war great as you've always done! It's really gladdening to see a guy that built up total war's reputation is still here - Rambler and Warrior aren't there anymore, Apollo not so - so seeing one of the old guard still persisting to this day - hats off.
@@lionheartx10 Also we want to see your children play total war - I grew up when I was in school watching your videos. When I have my kids (god knows when!) - they shall learn total war itself!
My first campaign of yours i followed was Great Britain on Empire, the nostalgia is hitting hard. All these years later here we are! A few less hairs on both of us lol
I've always said that for an Empire campaign to be historically accurate, everyone has to do terrible except for two countries: Great Britain has to beat the tar out of everyone for almost the entire game, and the US has to do really well to survive rebelling against the one faction beating the tar out of everyone else. Good luck doing as well as Great Britain did historically.
In early game we British seem to be in a weak position so I personally would first take Scotland to secure the homeland then take the carribean islands, Jamaica etc then take the Dutch colonies in america and then March north slowly while building up a full professional army in London to send wherever they are needed. Remember to make note of the nations with one settlement and no alies there would be the easiest targets
Rather than "Take out sails - get close - grapeshot - board and capture", you could try "Take out sails - get close - grapeshot - more greapshot - yet more grapeshot" until the target is so denuded of crew that they surrender. It minimises your own casualties and reduces the chance of "Leakie panic" episodes.
(doing something slightly different for this again seeing how it can last multiple generations) [The following is a letter from the Chamberlain family’s archives] Dearest family: I am writing to inform you that I am doing well. We recently had a major battle with some pirates and had to return to Port Royal to repair and re-organize our crews. As the battle was chaotic and confusing for example I was told my ship, the Achilles was routed from the battle. However, I took part boarding party with my fellow marines to capture the enemy’s flagship. Taking her as our prize and keeping those who surrendered in the brig so they could face the gallows. I'm not much of a Navy man, but from what I was able to pick up, our fleet had come to see off these pirates threatening the islands in the Americas. So our task force went after them, intercepting their fleet and plumbing it into submission. I wish I could explain to you the thrill of combat, the rush that went through me as we took up our posts, the cannons firing, and us with our muskets prepared to take potshots at the other crew, waiting for the gap to close. However that thrill died just as our Corporal did, a good lad barely even needing to shave took a solid shot through the hull of the ship as he was echoing orders. Those next to him got showered in splinters, and others got sprayed with blood and sea alike. We barely had time to process before we were well within range of accurate musket fire, and began to give it better than we took it. The pirates fired solid shots into the side of our vessel while our cannons sprayed them with grapeshot. The maelstrom of the rest of the fleets firing around us makes the whole battle like a storm on the ocean itself. The sea sprayed up with misses and splashing ships as chunks flew off. Screaming barely noticeable over the thunder of our guns. I must confess I was lost in the madness and wasn’t even worried for my well-being. When one of the Ensigns called for us to board them I charged over without a second thought. Leaping onto the ship I found a pirate less than two paces away, I fired my musket into his midsection which staggered him, and then seeing how he wasn’t finished I clubbed him with the end of my musket before the rest of the detail boarded and we overwhelmed them. I must admit looking back on the battle I am a good bit rattled and I imagine this letter is confusing. I do apologize and will strive to, in the future, write in more understandable thoughts. While I’d like to write more about these seeing how just this letter will take months to transit the oceans if I am lucky, I figured writing a quick letter and getting it to you all sooner would be for the best. Wishing you all the best until we make harbor again, Liam

Of course you have to have a lot of Sharpe references in this series just like in Napoleon but some other names could be. Cavalry: Durham Dragoons Infantry: Kings Royal Border Regiment Cannon: From Gloucester with Love Ship: Pride of Whitehaven
if you check all the various abilities of the units some have things like "inspires friends" etc ; also some skirmish ability troops fire from prone position ; I have found that longest range is important as you can get the first shot in; also check road building
My fave Regiment is for Pikemen. When they get obsolete, which admitedly is very quickly, I then bring them home and leave them to guard London. I call it the " Dont tell him Pike" Regment
God, I remember binging the shit out of your old Darthmod Britain campaign. I can’t wait for the next Empire Total war game. I’m hoping for it to span over more years though so we can get Victorian tech or even WW1 tech but I’m not holding my breath for the latter since I’m sure they will likely make a separate game for that at some point.

wooo Empire total war. i just hope someday we see empire total war 2 with more depth
Man i remember watching you play this back in highschool cant believe it made a comeback 😂
Never clicked a video so fast. Wasn't your last attempt USA, but it just kept crashing
if you check all the various abilities of the units some have things like "inspires friends" etc ; also some skirmish ability troops fire from prone position ; I have found that longest range is important as you can get the first shot in; also check road building
It has been so long since I've played this game - this mod looks awesome! Definitely along for the ride on this one.
YEEEEES Finally more Empire!
I remember your Portugal campaign, which crashed when you were about to go conquer India.
Round two I remember watching this years ago when you last did it keep up the great work man
At last! Buzzing for this. To begin, make taxes low to boost your annual income growth to help long term as it will compound over time
God as if it was 11.5 years making me feel very old! Watched the whole first play through numerous times 😅
My fave Regiment is for Pikemen. When they get obsolete, which admitedly is very quickly, I then bring them home and leave them to guard London. I call it the " Dont tell him Pike" Regment
God, I remember binging the shit out of your old Darthmod Britain campaign. It wasn't the first of your series that I had watched (I think that goes to a really old medieval 2 campaign, potentially stainless steel Genoa ) but it was the first one i remember binging the whole series in quick succession. Its hard to believe it's been 11 years. Got giddy when I saw you announced this campaign a little while ago
Real ones remember Humble Pear from the Darthmod Maratha campaign
Humble Pear, God of Stories, tales & Adventures!
Yes...Humble Pear did an awesome job!
I can’t wait for the next Empire Total war game. I’m hoping for it to span over more years though so we can get Victorian tech or even WW1 tech but I’m not holding my breath for the latter since I’m sure they will likely make a separate game for that at some point.
Alright, Alright you convinced me! I'm downloading it now. 20 gig has to be more than the base game.
@@Dan19870 enjoy!
Love this game and now I can play it with this great mod
I remember watching your last british series 11 years ago lol.
I cannot wait for more episodes of this
The longevity of the interest in this game is tremendous. I still fire it up from time to time.
Holy cow i still remember watching you 11 years ago this is nostalgic
