I only played against Ai lords so even after years of playing, i dont remember building a complete castle😂😂 Just manning strong defence towards the approach area
I see a severe lack of fire prevention: 1) wells 2) at least a moat protecting the outer buildings. Moving the towers a bit out would grant more protection as well... 3) gaps to prevent the spread of fire (at least outside of the castle) I'd add another two towers as an outpost protecting your farms and out buildings. Lastly, the paths could be shorter for various units.
This could use a moat to prevent tunneling and units running straight up to and start hacking your walls. And moat is even more effective if you leave an opening to your keep, preferably a 1 cell strip of land crossing over the moat, as the AI will only order their troops to refill your moat when it cannot path directly to your main keep. Keep a drawbridge to the side or behind for your workers to prevent them from getting in from behind and it's golden.
I make a wide castle with eco buildings behind and millitary ones at the front, and make sure to wall it all around to prevent sneak attacks. I tower the front area and don't make a gate. The AI usually takes the 'leading' path and falls directly into the firing range. And the castle economy is never compromised.
I usually dont build walls i only put up towers and literally 1 line of wall. And i play in sc extreme and hard for me plus i spam hovels first then the training ground and buy assasins and i play on 20 game speed so i can do things faster than the npcs and then when i finish getting those assasins i command them to attack the nearest lords.
kalif can just use fire balistas fro what i rembembered so you need normal balistas to shoot the fire balistas and also you can make watter around castle to make it even better
me: place towers close to enemy as possible and station crossbow man to shoot any enemy in range. best efficiency for spent resources and to kill any advance enemy.
1) 60+ catapults and its gone 2) you can make far more effective castle(as devensec) and economy 3) don't play like richard 4) there is no moat 5) there is no fire protection 6) it's just bad
YOu play like computer player. i just make moat, wall from three sides, maybe one tower and the rest arabian archers and i play active defense. arabian archers can also play offense and harass enemy farms

If I decide not to use moat, I used double gates. And I also cover the towers with a double layer of walls, so they survive more catapult launches.
You run a tight castle sire. Very efficient.

But consider and maybe, that not to build a castle, but to build towers full of archers all about. Never enclose your keep and it messes with the AI.
