The coloration in Stronghold 1 is one of a kind,
that mild green color of grass and forests combined the soundtrack relaxes my mind and frees me from stress...🌳🎶

Meeen, indeed this is most relaxing game and in that terms I feel that as most entertaining in the very healthy way of its meaning. My God, I just realise that this game should maybe be researched for that healthy outcome for people? You know, nowadays we have so overstimulating games and I feel that those times were golden to just have nice time spending by PC.
But I also think this is bs , I could have biased feeling because of nice childhood memories ;)
@@owcaandroid I don't find Stronghold Crusader relaxing, mission 80 had me sweating for solid 4 hours lol. It is indeed very stimulating, just in a different way. The charm of Stronghold comes from its simple mechanics, humor, great soundtrack. You could find similar games nowadays, but they're mostly indie. Have to dig deep...
The original and crusader were the best. I did enjoy the 3d graphics and I really liked the Crime mechanic in ST2.
I hope for a Stronghold 4 in Europe again though.

I really love stronghold 2, the game mechanic it's so unique, you not only build your own unit and attack, you need to watch your people too, your area need to stay clean from poop so your people didn't easily get sick, you need pest control, thieves need to be punish in the jail or public execution to give example to your people and gain respect, you can give your people entertainment like jousting or circus, if you rich enough, your lord can open big meal in his castle and your lord also can having an empress, it's all a really nice touch for me
But unfortunately Stronghold 2 no longer can running smoothly in my PC, it suddenly close to windows
there were some good ideas in stronghold 2 - i personally really loved having a bedchamber and separate food buildings for the lord - the honour system was a good idea. i just wish they had kept the original 2d style....
Yeah I agree stronghold 2 was great minus the random crashing online
kind went downhill once it became 3d - they had some good ideas in the later games but they never recaptured the magic from the original. I would love a new stronghold game made fully 2d with beautiful hd sprite-work and all the units and building chains from stronghold 2. Imagine having all the building done in the original 2d style but much higher res and from all sides, so you could rotate the map without your town looking strange.
You know 2d is much harder than 3d right

@@santiagoindisguise7289it's not hard on the graphics. It's only more tedious and time consuming on the artist doing it. Hence why they went 3D.
I agree, Stronghold 2 and up were not good. First and crusader were their best games by far. Crusader 2 was good enough to be playable but the rest weren't imo.

I spent countless hours on Stronghold & Stronghold Crusader in my youth in the early 2000s. They were magical. The newer versions seem to have been overworked? I tried downloading one of the iPhone versions and it feels like they’ve added way too much and it’s lost its original feel. I feel a bit lost navigating around on a tiny screen for the amount they’ve put in 😂. Loved Firefly’s early work better, will see if I can find those nostalgic games again!

I don't understand why no one talks about Stronghold Legends. I spent HUNDREDS of hours on it and consider it the best one.
Warlords really picks up where Stronghold 2 and 3 fell short - finally giving this one a go, love it but annoying the Skirmish trail doesn't save so I make sure to save a game each newly unlocked Skirmish. Had the same issue with Crusader 2 :(
Still can't deny the first Stronghold and Crusader are the best and a proper new edition needs to follow their isometric style in upgraded graphics like the upcoming Definitive Edition of Stronghold. Hoping a Crusader DE is Stronghold DE does well.
Need to retry Stronghold 3 again, most advanced physics but most limited in gameplay too.
Curious if Firefly will incorporate some innovations from Kingdoms into Stronghold DE.

I played all Warcraft RTS games . Somehow for Warcraft when it went 3D the game just works. Same goes for C&C, it works on 3D.
Wonder why the Stronghold games just fails when it went 3D.
They should go back to 2D. I'm sure it's the game's strong feature.
Does stronghold was hand-drawn pastel style cell shading. Sprites when done right look really amazing. The company that took over the game over saturated the colors and lost the soft charm of the originals.
Was just searching for a music mod for Rimworld. A Stronghold music mod popped up & a memory was triggered. I can't remember which it was that i played but this was a great TY to see the progression though the years.

been replaying SH crusader since the past 3 months and then I'm going to move to SH crusader 2 and then to Warlords. Wish they made a native Mac Port though, I have to use wine to play.

Firefly really missed the selling point of their game badly: designing castles in detail. Walls, crenellations, many variations of towers, that was their selling point ever. Ofc it went downhill with 3D.

Stronghold 3 was fun, but they gave up patching the game and just left it😡😡 was so many bugs and crashes and they just left it broken.
I played Legends and Stronghold 2 a lot but Stronghold 3 graphics really turned me off from the game.
Among all the games, Stronghold 2 was the most realistic and entertaining.👍❤
So many releases yet they just needed to update the first one.
Now they release a "definitive" Edition, it's a reskin you will pay for that's it.

Absolutely true, Most of the 3D RTS games feel very buggy and unsmooth and unnecessarily complicated unlike the good old 2D Games
just look for the best selling RTS City builder with the biggest active playerbase in 2023 and you'll find it's the Definitive Edition of the good old Age of Empires 2

The BIGGEST issue of the 3d games is the complete lack of life. Paesants are reduced to probes and drones of sc2. In the 2d game plenty of them existed just to give life to the castle. It made the games into a generic rts.

It was always baffling to me how they managed to make every game after the original (and crusader) look worse and worse. To me, none of the sequels come even close to the style and look of the original.

As much as I like Stronghold to have more civilization. I think it's better to limited it to Europe and middle east. Cuz I am also Age of empires fan and I dont want stronghold copy age of empires.

The first game is still the best, 2 and 3 just removed features that the first game had and made it way worse
SH2 was pretty decent despite the bad reviews at launch. It’s the only 3D version I liked. And of course the first SH. I never really liked the desert theme of crusader.
