Also I feel with 1800 you have to watch for enemy ships and pirates, while the default game is quite non eventful in 2205.
I remember playing Anno 1602 wayy back in like 2004 or so, I was 12 years old. That's when I first found the Anno eries and immediately fell in love with it. Around the same time I found The Sims, Zoo Tycoon and RollerCoaster Tycoon. I'd spend literal HOURS making maps on Anno 1602 lol

It just keeps getting bigger and bigger. Possibly the best computer game I've ever bought. I've probably played about 600 game clock hours since it came out. I'm really happy to see a long running game series still delivering quality games... the expectations were high and after 2205 fans were really worried but damn did they a good job with 1800
I see your Anno 1503 and raise you a Port Royale 2 and Sacred 1. That being said, I did and do play loads of 1503, and you're right about it being beautiful in both art and sound.
It's interesting to look at the GameStar ratings for the Anno games: Anno 1602 - 88/100 Anno 1503 - 87/100 Anno 1701 - 91/100 Anno 1404 - 91/100 Anno 2070 - 90/100 Anno 2205 - 85/100 Anno 1800 - 89/100 I wish the expansion(s) of Anno 1800 will boost its rating even further ;)
Anno 1800 is the perfect game to me. I can spend all day in my cities and never get bored. Season 4 just ended, and I'm curious to know if there will be a season 5, or if they're going to move on to the next installment in the franchise.
I remember when my mom got me and my sister Anno 1602 when it first came out. I originally hated it cause I didn’t understand how to play. I thought you just sailed a ship around. And then one day I discovered the tutorial and it was downhill from there. My parents had to force me off the computer, I spent so much time playing it.
I've spent countless hours on these series, mostly between 1701, 1404, 2070 and 2205. I know 2205 is controversial because it strays a little too far from the formula, but I still enjoy it immensely, it is still challenging in its own way, while being much less rushed and frantic.
I believe Anno1404 was the one that brought most people to this saga. Anno1800 is also very popular and very similar to it, but I prefer the older one.
Must’ve been living under rock, because I didn’t know about the Anno History Collection. Will definitely be buying. I still play 1602 to this day. It plays fine on my Windows 10 laptop. I also play 1701 on my old desktop computer with Windows XP I wish 1692, 1404, 1503 and 1701 could come together in one big game
1503 was the one I was hooked on as an 8 year old kid and gave me beautiful memories. I also had a good time with Anno Online and the other multi players who were very helpful. Too bad that it's off the air though. :(
I remember when my cousin was playing Anno 1602 , he was always ranting about not having time to go outside because he didn't had enough spice xd I still haven't played this game but i will always have good memories him screaming WHERE IS MY SPICEEEEEE MAN ;p
I think that at the moment it isn't very popular because expansion (Deep Ocean) or some patch broke it. You will be stuck in endless restart loop, because Ubisoft/Bluebyte couldn't be bothered to make their launcher autoupdate the game with Deep Ocean compatibility (version 2.0). You need to download it manually from their website, disconnect from the internet (sic!), apply update, connect back, launch the game, restart, get it to autoupdate (finally!) and there you go, easy.
No Anno, out of all, will have a bigger place in my heart than 1602. Though, Anno 1800 also has a significant part of it now - the only things missing: land units and loads of nostalgia 🤪
I only have 2070 and I think it's solid, but I can absolutely see how the aesthetic departure REALLY shocks you, from a romanticized past into grimy near future to remind you how the close we are to it and how dull and oily it is, when really, we are here to escape in a world of our making.
In my case, it WAS the future games (2070 and 2205) - I grabbed 2205's Ultimate Edition add-on when it went on-sale for a then-scandalous $10USD ; that sale lasted for years. As much as UPlay was complained about online, I had no problems with it. Like Anno 2070, 2205 has a killer OST (it's included with the Ultimate Edition).
Der Soundtrack von Anno 1602 hat sich in meinem Gehirn eingebrannt! Den hab ich damals sogar noch in Anno 1503 portiert, weil ich den damals so gut fand.
Anno 1602 alway will be my favorite game. i remember my mom playing it in our windows 95 pc while i was looking at her.. i will really miss all this little moments one day..
Even tho not a lot of people like it, but I really love 2205. Playing it for the second time right now and I so love that economic system, atmosphere and music...
Anno 2205 is so good, it's a brillant masterpiece. DLC had made this game absolutely amazing and engaging like in the old times. The decisions they took with interface, logistic and population make this game really like no other, establishing a high mark and an example to the industry. Also it has such a great scale, you have Arctic, Moon, Earth, Tundra and Orbit regions, 11 different population levels (arctic and tundra guys are pretty similar, but nonetheless), million-wise numbers of population, ten-thousand-wise numbers of electricity in the region, hundred-thousand-wise numbers of balance, and 2000+% effectivity on production facilities. The graphics are incredibly great as is soundtrack. I am a long time Anno fan (since 1701 in 2006), love all entries, and just wanted to note how good 2205 is. It addresses many of my child dreams about ideal Anno game. Don't overlook this game, it's extremely good and is a step forward for the series. If feedback on 2205 wasn't so divisive we could have by now an Anno game with a full Solar system to colonize. I think we'll though be getting it maybe next time.
Love the anno games! Grew up with 1602, still listen to the soundtrack. Still love 1701 the most because of remembering staying up all night playing it with my dad. Then 1404, which is a masterpiece. Playing 1800 now and it is a great game.
1602 - i have thousands, and i mean thousands, we are talking all of my childhood here of hours playing this game xD - had to stop playing it since i upgraded to windows 10 - even using the gog version it just, keeps on crashing ... shame. 1503 - I played this game somewhat, but my attention was mostly in anno 1602 it just gripped me way more, besides, i was playing other games on the pc such as Day of Defeat, Myth of Soma (MMO), Rollercoaster tycoon and theme hospital by this time. 1701 - Completely ignored this one as it must have slipped under the radar for me, only found out about it when i stumpled upon the DS version, gave it a pass. 1404 - Played this a lot, hundreds of hours, i recently purchased the steam version. 2070 - My god i love this version of Anno, absolutely fantastic, clocked in over a thousand hours easily - shame about the always online crap they rolled out, but if you ignore it the game is amazing, its pretty much 1404 except set in the future - this was the first time i ever spent hundreds of hours just beautifying my islands!! LOVE IT!!! 2205 - Erm ..... i sort of liked it ..... but it felt like it was trying WAY to hard to be an something different, this unfortunately left a bad taste in my mouth and was largely ignored, it didn't feel like an anno game at all, though i did clock over 300 hours in it, so i atleast tried to give it a fair go. 1800 - Well ... this one is a mixed bag for me ... 3 days of trouble shooting on and off, busy busy, why it was making my system bluescreen ... yep, no idea to this day why it did it, me messing around with settings both inside the game and system settings it just, stopped - but i got a new one, my system would just, switch off! Wut? i later found out it was a Vsync related issue (NEVER use adaptive Vsync for this game - i tried this setting after i was bluescreening from default settings to see if i could prevent the bluescreens, only for me to find adaptive just causes my system to shutdown with no bluescreen crash haha), the framerate has been an utterly abysmal experience where it took several hours to try and see what settings i could get away with using the gtx960 4gb for over 50fps gaming atleast, only for me to just get so flustered with how shitty this games code is that i just gave up and set everything to low on 1080p meh ... Apart from that, im enjoying the game a lot, except there are some things that make utterly no sense, again, dodgy code here, my city is happy, all green smiles in the house when you look at their happiness scores, and yet .... they still choose to riot like its a forced event or something, it just begs the question, why is happiness even a thing i should care for if you'll force a riot on me anyway just because i unlocked the police stations ..... lame, one riot happened at the fishery, why? because there was not enough workers apparently as this was the issue that came up, i checked my workers aka farmers and it was at +273 (no negatives even for workers etc etc ..... right, sure, you go riot over something that is not an issue ¬_¬ or you know, because i didn't build a police station nearby because there wasn't a fuggin need too. Also, i have NEVER cared for questing in Anno games, just pure sandbox mode, YES i love that its separate in this game! Noice noice! yet you CANNOT turn quests off! - the reason is because its linked to AI difficulty and some "beautification" items are locked behind them ... so lame ¬_¬ - you are FORCED to do quests for them because you cannot turn it off only set to "Rare" and if you decline their quests you get -3 reputation - doesn't sound like much right? even on RARE setting they kept offering WAY to many and i declined them all as i didn't want to quest! (they give money and trinkets that can make your game a fuck-ton easier, Nuh uh, i want to play and build up my own empire on my own merits, trading with the AI accordingly, not get a quest that gives me +10k at the start of the friggin game! i set my starting cash to 35k FOR A REASON (the lowest you can set it), not get free money and items for less then 10 seconds of work, screw that - before i even made it to the Soap stage on my first ever playthrough, 2 of the 3 ai's went to WAR with me because i didn't do their forced quests! LOL .... kay Ubisoft, nice way to get BlueByte to code utter shit into their game just to add a rushed difficulty and a rushed product that clearly, CLEARLY needs huge amounts of patch work .... /rantover lol
I think second part of your post about Anno 1800 explains the first one. With DLC Anarchist there are quests given not only by AI Players or NPCs, but also by your population members. Some of them, Anarchy-related are "negative" Quests - dont have reward, but if you dont make them, you will be punished. And this can be riot (or arson, or explosion. Once when I miss one of those, they destroyed part of only road to few my mines)
Nice video of one of the greatest game series of all time! Still, I'm highly disappointed that you for some reason didn't put in the 1701 soundtrack which is the most intriguing one in my opinion
1404 was my first one and one of my favs too! I'm absolutely loving 1800 - I think they pretty much knocked it out of the park. I have a few qualms about it but overall it's a great game.
Played 1602 as a small child (or at least watched how my parents played), played 1701 later and then 1404, 2070 and 1800. 1404 will always be my favourite game of these and the nostalgia of 1602 is incredible.
I hope they make another futuristic version even further than 2205. The beauty and mind blowing design of the futuristic stuff slightly warms my frozen heart.
2070 was my first real anno (not counting the few minutes i spent on the wii one), but 2205 was the one that really made me fall in love with the game series. 1800 exceeded my expectations still. I am SO excited for 117
IAnno 1602 was my first game I played against real persons, we stayed in our company and played it over the network there on Pentium 133. Beginn 16:00 End sometimes at 2 am in the morning
Außerdem natürlich schwierig alles up to date zu halten.
Conclusion - anno always has a great soundtrack .. Best Soundtrack 1404 - best game 1800 ... from today's perspective. Each game had its own fascination in its time.
Anno Online was my first Anno game and im really into 1800 right now but 1503 is looks super charming, i never played it but i will get it no matter what.

Playing Anno 2205 know feels weird having to load the world every time, while anno 1800 allows quick switching. Also I feel with 1800 you have to watch for enemy ships and pirates, while the default game is quite non eventful in 2205.
1404 and 1800 are my favorites :) Love this series
Good old 1602 times
I remember playing Anno 1602 wayy back in like 2004 or so, I was 12 years old. That's when I first found the Anno eries and immediately fell in love with it. Around the same time I found The Sims, Zoo Tycoon and RollerCoaster Tycoon.
I'd spend literal HOURS making maps on Anno 1602 lol
What the f*ck, are you me?!
Played all those same games :D
And me?! I played Anno 1701, Anno 1404, Rollercoaster and Zoo Tycoon. And yeah Rome Total War
Im playing ANNO 1404 Venice ;]
same, just installed the imma mod for a newish experience :D
Me to. I like it.
We are on the same boat mate
More people are since the history edition was released!
Anno 1503 will forever be my favorite Anno.
i have the same, never gets old, just love everything
It had everything from the beginning!
Agreed, 1404 would be on top for me if the combat system was the one of 1503, just because i like the oriental stuffs a lot^^
Anno 1602 was definitely ahead of its time. After almost 20 years, I recently started a campaign playthrough again.
1800 had one of the best game scores I’ve heard in a long while, absolutely incredible music.
Great series. Anno 1800 looks absolutely fantastic!
IT IS!
@@shelbyseelbach9568 Indeed it is. Love the game.
@@RyuRanXII I've been at it for 5 straight hours today. Since I walked in the door from work. Player lvl 51, population 51,000. 4,000 investors, 3,000 scholars, 140 million in the bank and 50,000 a minute coming in. 91 hours of game clock. All DLCs active. It just keeps getting bigger and bigger. Possibly the best computer game I've ever bought. I've probably played about 600 game clock hours since it came out. Can't wait to see what season 3 DLCs are going to do. Im glad this game isn't crack, I'd be broke and on the streets. LMFAO! I may be an Annoholic, maybe?

can we all just agree that every single entry of the series had top notch soundtracks? even the black sheep 2205 had amazing music
The soundtrack kicked in from 1602 and I just was hit with a massive pile of nostalgia that i was not expecting today. Hit me right in the childhood.
2205 Was awesome 1800 Was Epic and 1404 Will always be that Legend Boiii
I've just purchased all the anno pc games. i look forward to playing them
I played 1602, 1404 & 1800
1800 is stunning, a masterpiece
I'm really happy to see a long running game series still delivering quality games... the expectations were high and after 2205 fans were really worried but damn did they a good job with 1800
1503 is the most beautiful 2D-Iso Game to this Day. And the Soundtrack was also fantastic.
I see your Anno 1503 and raise you a Port Royale 2 and Sacred 1.
That being said, I did and do play loads of 1503, and you're right about it being beautiful in both art and sound.
This was my entry title and most fond of. The best in the series I believe to be 1404 overall though, especially the Venice addition
I remember my dad playing Seven Cities of Gold and being enamored with the graphics. When Anno 1602 came out it was like something from the future.
It's interesting to look at the GameStar ratings for the Anno games:
Anno 1602 - 88/100
Anno 1503 - 87/100
Anno 1701 - 91/100
Anno 1404 - 91/100
Anno 2070 - 90/100
Anno 2205 - 85/100
Anno 1800 - 89/100
I wish the expansion(s) of Anno 1800 will boost its rating even further ;)
1800 is stunning
Anno 1503 was a bug ridden mess at release and it only got 1 point less than 1602.
That's strange.
@@bobbobson110 Wut? I played it for 10 years and never had a single bug lol
It definetely has and will do so even more as the season 3 has just been announced !
1800 is bad optimized abd cut so many features from 1701 and 1404
All the years of Anno games add up to 9 and that's a nice detail
2205 sucked, it is more an Anno themed game than it is an Anno game.
@@shelbyseelbach9568 as somebody who doesn't like the normal anno games too much, 2070 and 2205 were my favourite. the others aren't really for me.

The first Anno game I ever played was Anno 1701 on the NDS. Jump to Anno 1800, simply beautiful game with such a majestic soundtrack.
Thomas Chen me too bro
I'm glad that their porting anno 1800 to consoles this year, can't wait for 16th of March
Just listening the soundtrack of each game makes me feel good.
I also play 1701 on my old desktop computer with Windows XP
I wish 1692, 1404, 1503 and 1701 could come together in one big game
Oh, die Musik vom ersten Anno-Spiel... das weckt Erinnerungen!
For the record: At 1:35 I decided to use my entire weekend on a new game of 1503.
Anno 1404 - best Soundtrack by far
1503 was the one I was hooked on as an 8 year old kid and gave me beautiful memories. I also had a good time with Anno Online and the other multi players who were very helpful. Too bad that it's off the air though. :(
I remember when my cousin was playing Anno 1602 , he was always ranting about not having time to go outside because he didn't had enough spice xd I still haven't played this game but i will always have good memories him screaming WHERE IS MY SPICEEEEEE MAN ;p

Anno 2070 anyone?
*guys its a still a great game*
Vikb yeah have like 800hrs still playing
I think that at the moment it isn't very popular because expansion (Deep Ocean) or some patch broke it. You will be stuck in endless restart loop, because Ubisoft/Bluebyte couldn't be bothered to make their launcher autoupdate the game with Deep Ocean compatibility (version 2.0). You need to download it manually from their website, disconnect from the internet (sic!), apply update, connect back, launch the game, restart, get it to autoupdate (finally!) and there you go, easy.
Very underated, loved it.
Yup best ANNO GUI 👍

1701? yes. altough 1404 just kills it considering it was 2009. looks f...ing amazing.
My first game was anno 1503, I was hooked on it. No other game combines elements of simcity and age of empire so well
aw man that Anno 1602 soundtrack! i still love that!
No Anno, out of all, will have a bigger place in my heart than 1602.
Though, Anno 1800 also has a significant part of it now - the only things missing: land units and loads of nostalgia 🤪

im glad they went back to the old timey feel of anno. that future stuff didnt look fun to me
I only have 2070 and I think it's solid, but I can absolutely see how the aesthetic departure REALLY shocks you, from a romanticized past into grimy near future to remind you how the close we are to it and how dull and oily it is, when really, we are here to escape in a world of our making.
I like 2070 because its just the same like 1404 and just provides much more content but I strongly dislike 2205
cause we aren't related to the future stuffs yet..
@@t3hsourcey Well 2070 won't be oily unless it's synthetic. Because if we keep it up the way we do now, we'll run out of oil before 2070.

My Anno 1602 doesn't crash on Windows 10? I have the original CD
I played the GOG version of 1602 all evening today, and no crashing. Try setting the compatability to 98/ME.
I had problems running the cd version on Windows 10. After i uninstalled and just cracking it it worked fine.

Außerdem natürlich schwierig alles up to date zu halten. Man sollte sich nie nach dem Score richten... der ist eher für einen Quick Overview.
