Very good instructions. Thank you. I did look at the multi-color spiral video for 1 minute and my head exploded, so I'll give this a go and then graduate and go to multi-colors later. I'm trying to make cat beds with thick chenille yarn. First I tried a regular round, but my cat bed looked more like a potato chip than a flat round. Wish me luck!
I was trying to make a bucket hat but couldn't make spiral but after watching your video & instructions I made a medium spiral looks pretty, I hope I will complete crocheting the bucket hat TOMMOROW!!!!!!!!!😘😘😘love you
I didn’t like the look of ending it with only a slip stitch, so after the last DoubleCrochet I made two Half Double Crochet (in separate stitches), followed by one Single Crochet, THEN ended with a Slip Stitch and wove in the end
Hope you see this question and comment. I do appreciate how thoroughly you explain how to make this pattern. But, I am wondering if it can be made using the magic circle stitch to not have a hole in the center of it. Think I will try that out and see if it'll work. TYSM for sharing this video with us. 👍🥰😻👍
Hi i love ur tutorial .. i want to make a pillow cover with this pattern. How shud i continuw after the last line u showed to increase the circle ? The last line u showed was 1112 ..will the next line be 11112 ?
This was a great tutorial, i did it right along with you. However, i was disappointed at the end because you didnt show how to end or fasten off when complete. Can you share how to do so? Im lost now. Thx
I just meant to show technique of increasing, it’s not a stand alone project with a specific ending. You can fasten off anyway or apply this to another design or keep your increasing…
tysm for this tutorial! it really helped. i have a question though, so the pattern is something like this: R2: 2dc in each stitch R3: start the row with 2dc, then 1dc-2dc-1dc-2dc.... and it keeps going. R4: start the row with 2dc, then 2dc-1dc-1dc-2dc... and it keeps going. my question is, what should i do to have more rows? this is what i thought would be correct: R5: start the row with 2dc, then 2dc-1dc-1dc-1dc-2dc... R6: start with 2dc, then 2dc-1dc-1dc-1dc-1dc-2dc... so i just add more 1dc's in between. would this be the correct way to keep adding more rows? thank you!
Can you make this large like for a rug? I'm considering doing a temperature rug, and if I do 20 stitches per day, I'm looking at over 60 rows. Do you still just increase by 12 for something this large?
Hi Cathy, You must be working into some more than you need. First round is 12, second round is two in each that’s 24, then each round is 12 more after that. Be sure you are counting and stitching consistently .
Hey how do I faten off this spiral circle ? I can't find any videos on it and how to fasten off everything else in crochet it wouldn't end looking like a perfect circle. I need help !
Hi Christine, you can end it in different ways depending on how you are using it… to taper off the ends you can do 1hdc, 1sc, and 1 slst in each color to round of off a bit.

Thank you, and yes 2 colors makes much more sense when you know that pattern with one color. Good luck with chenille, that stuff is tough to use!
Thank you so much for your tutorial! I’m using the technique to make a small rug for my Pre-K children’s dramatic play area. Thank you again!
That’s great Cindy! Thanks for watching ;)

That’s great, thanks Runa!
This is very helpful!
Great, thank you!
Thank you for the very understandable video. :)
Thanks for watching!
how do i end the spiral so it dont have a drop off edge at the end
Hi Rebecca, you can taper the end off by doing a sc in the next st, and then a slst after that.
Drop off looks off ugh
Fantastic and teaching
Thanks Ma ma bear!
how do you end the circle?! 😅
Each row ends with w slip stitch

@@jeanninesmith2366 um so if I'm doing the circle with single crochet's, can I just end it with a slip stick or should I do something?
@Jeannine Smith thank you so much for this tip!! I am very new to crocheting and was struggling to decide if I should just slip stich or not.
@@jeanninesmith2366 Thank you so much for this tip. I used it to weave off my two colors and it looks a lot smoother!

Hi Curtrice, yes you can always use a magic circle in place of a ch 5 and slst, it’s just preference
@@crochet.with.illjay TYSM for answering my question. Love your channel. 👍😉🥰

Yes, keep adding an additional stitch between increases for each row.

I’d love to make a granny square out of this… add a “frame”. How do I do that?
That is a bit more complicated than it sounds, I recommend looking up a separate video for it.
@@crochet.with.illjay thank you for responding ❤️❤️❤️
How do I finish this so it doesn't look lopsided?
An option is to taper off the stitches with something like; 2hdc, 2sc, 2slst
Can it be done with simple crochet?
Yes, I don’t have a video for that but they are out there.

Hi Luna, yes that is correct. Another way to look at it is a 12 stitch increase per round.
@@crochet.with.illjay thank you so much!
If I was going to make this like 12 larger ones and weaved together , how should I repeat the pattern to do this?
For each additional row, add another dc in between increases. It’s a 12 stitch increase per round pattern
Is there a border for these ?
You can add a boarder if you like. The video is more about how to do the technique, but how you apply it to crochet is up to you.

That sounds like a great project! And yes you just keep increasing by 12 every round for however big you want.
This is easy except I keep ending up with 3 more stitches than I should have. I've ripped out 6 times and it's still doing it. Please advise.
Hi Cathy, You must be working into some more than you need. First round is 12, second round is two in each that’s 24, then each round is 12 more after that. Be sure you are counting and stitching consistently .
You didn't show how to close it off to make a square
Wasn’t trying to make a square, just show the overall technique of working in a circle.
Hey how do I faten off this spiral circle ? I can't find any videos on it and how to fasten off everything else in crochet it wouldn't end looking like a perfect circle. I need help !
You can taper off the end by doing a sc and then a slip st. To fasten off cut the yarn and pull tail through the last loop.

No slip stitches
Why aren't the 2 dc's above each other ?
Did you miss a stitch?
