- At home DIY oil change on a 2022 Mercedes Benz GLE350
Hoping this video helps as it shows a step by step narrated explanation of how I changed the oil. I finally changed the oil for a 2nd time and the oil, although dark, was still in surprisingly good shape. I wanted to revisit the total oil used when changing the oil and oil filter. I used just slightly over 7 quarts of oil to get the computer to tell me I’m at maximum level. I used the Pennzoil Euro L 5W-30 again as it was readily available at WalMart and meets the MB 229.51 specification that I’m looking to meet. Oil change was probably 45 minutes. Very easy to do and you should not be intimidated as it’s a MB. I also had a little bit of a hard time finding an auto part store that had the correct oil filter in stock. I couldn’t even use the MANN website to figure out the exact part number so I relied on my local auto part store to find it for my car. I did use MANN as I believe that’s a good brand. Tempted to use the Mobil 1 version but went back to MANN. I have a link below for the oil and oil filter on Amazon. Good luck!!

One of the best instructional videos I have ever seen. GREAT JOB! Thank you for being you!
Great video! Thank you. Just a small CORRECTION, the oil filter cap nut is actually 27mm, not 25mm.
25NM is marked on the nut, but as you detail that’s the torque spec.
Thanks ! I’ll have to check that out. Maybe I misspoke. Sorry :(
I used an adjustable wrench.
This is a perfect example of what a tutorial video should be. Thank you.
Thank you so much !!
Thank you very much for posting a very effective and informative video. I had no issues changing my oil and filter. Keep up your good work. I have made a token donation for you to help MB users in the future.
Thank you so much !!!
Excellent job sir, we really appreciate all your detailed information in this video. Very helpful and will save us a ton of money by changing oil at home. Thank you

I know how long it takes to do the editing on these videos. Great job! Actually going to return the. 0W-20 that I just got from what AutoZone said the car should take. And go with the. 5W-30. 🤘🏽 I also hate running zero W.
Thank you! Very much appreciated. This takes time and I was thinking to do another one at my next oil change to help with some actual video content. So there will be two videos on this car. Thanks again for the kind words. Makes all the extra hours worth it ! Enjoy the other videos also! Rock on!
Excellent job with the footage and thanks for the links! 👍🏻👍🏻
Please subscribe you haven't already :) thx
Amazing guide! Thank you very much!
Thanks Denys! Please subscribe. I’ll have more stuff coming soon.
What exactly is a "C Coefficient" (8:09 of the video). I am thinking about doing my own oil change because MB stops offering dipstick. So potentially, a dealer can tell me that they did the oil change but in fact they didn't, and I have no way to figure that out. Thank you for your information. That was a very detailed explanation of oil change! 👍
good question...I honestly don't know...I would have to look that up. I'll try to find out and reply back. Good eye!
The "W" in OW-30, 5W-30, etc.. does NOT stand for "weight", it stands for "winter." Like all modern engine oils these are all multigrade oils, on a cold start or very cold climates, a OW-30 oil is going to flow faster on startup compared to 5W-30 however once the oils reach "operating temperature" the oils are virtually the same viscosity which actually would be 30 weight.
Yes. Your 100% correct. SAE standards measure viscosity of the oil at a very specific temperature. I’m not sure the temps exactly but it’s to check for viscosity of the oil in cold and engine running temperatures. That’s the purpose of the multi viscosity numbers. Good catch.
Great Instruction

Great vid! Do you recommend the Pennzoil over Mobil 1? They both have the same spec. Thanks.
Thank you! I appreciate that ! I usually gravitate to Mobil 1 if it’s available. All the independent testing I’ve seen seem to show that Mobil 1 has excellent characteristics and longevity.
Nice video, thanks for sharing this info. How does doing your own service affect the Mercedes Manufacturer's warranty on the vehicle?
No affect on warranty for me. Unless you do something that modifies the engine. But always check with your local dealer or whomever you purchased it from. Best wishes !
Good video good job thank you.
Thx!!
Great vid.
Thank you!!
Awesome video, Thanks
Thanks !!
You forgot to show how to reset the oil but it was good video
I have a separate video on that. Just touched on it on this one.

Yep should work fine. These are the Rhino Ramps. And here’s link. Couple options in link.

Hello, Please where can we get the washer for the 13mm nut that holds the pan?
@@chrisduru5747 did you lose the oil pan nut? I personally would get that from Mercedes. it would be inexpensive. Or go to a local shop like Napa. You may be able to find one on PartsGeek.com

Correct oil for m264 m 229.71 mobil1 esp x2 0w20
That is what I use on my 2020 GLE350 .
Have you seen the wireless car play from Ksmart Auto Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for our GLE 350? I recently purchased one. It’s a big improvement over the small screen stock version . Awesome and Amazing! Look for TLSolutions vid on RUclips….
I haven’t. I’ll take a look !
I did order one from Amazon. I don’t recall the CarPlay interface I used. I’ll take a look but it wasn’t great. I would have to pay like 250 for the one that allows you to play RUclips and Netflix on your screen.
Could you please tell me how you are taking out message from screen after changing engine oil
And can you please tell me how you are changing brake fluid.transmission oil,and fuel filter as well on gle car
Thanks very much
Hello, I haven't done the brake fluid or transmission fluid as it is fairly a new car. I will find another video to help you with the reset of oil message on the 2022 and send it over. thanks

What about fuel filter man please
What year is your GLE?
@@mrjoon4869 what year and model MB do you have ? If it’s a regular petrol vehicle, the fuel filter would be integrated with the pump inside the fuel tank. If it’s diesel, there may be a filter within engine area.
Can I check my oil level using the dipstick too?
@@danielonyemetu6253 good question but unfortunately there isn't a dipstick on this engine.
Great Job on Video, do you have a DYI on changing transmission fluid in GLE350? Thank You
I don’t as of yet. This GLE is still new so no need to replace. Honestly. I should not have to replace for a while. What year is yours?
Found this for you if you have the 9G-Tronic trans.

How did you reset the oil change warning? Also is Mobile 1 synthetic 5w-40 a good replacement?
Hello, you need to review the MB specification and then find it on this website....if Mobil 1 5W-40 complies...then you are good. operatingfluids.mercedes-benz.com/category/engine-oil
if you look at my channel, I have a step by step on how to reset the oil maintenance light.
Have you had a chance to change the engine air filter? I’ve been trying to find a video but nothing yet so far
You read my mind!! I will be checking the air filter soon and I can show everyone how to access it to check it and replace it. Thanks for the input!! Please subscribe and click on the bell so you get notified when the video is uploaded. thanks !
Thank you so much! Glad to see some fellow GLE owners doing maintenance on their own. I was very hesitant on doing the oil change on mine, after this video, did it with no issues, thank you so much!
Hello Erick....I took your advice and added a video on the steps to replace and air filter for this GLE350. It wasn't too bad...just a little time consuming...more than it needed to be but I'll know better for next time now :) Here's video
ruclips.net/video/UrIiV3OmeaA/видео.html
Thanks for this. Saving my Dad $600 by not taking it in
Awesome !! I’ll never forget them (MB) telling me to spend $770 for an oil change service. should be illegal!
I also plan to replace the cabin filters on there car tomorrow and share. Yep. 2 filters. One pre filter and one in the car. Smh!
…also you need a higher level scan tool to clear the codes.
For oil reset you don’t but if you have the engine light appearing, an OBD2 reader would be required. Or bring to Mercedes Service center.
Where can I buy that oil?
@@danger4320 you can buy the Pennzoil oil from Amazon link

I have the m264 in the glc300 2020. The dealer put in 5w40 229.5 they won't tell me why, called Mercedes Canada and they won't confirm oil required. What should I use as I am ready to do the oil change.
I would always double check with your local MB dealers to be 100% certain or even call FCP Euro to check. But based on quick research. I found the following in the 2020 GLC300 owners manual. Meet these specs and you’ll be fine.
229.51, 229.52, 229.61
229.71*
* Recommended for lowest possible fuel con‐ sumption (lowest SAE viscosity class in each case; observe possible restrictions of the approved SAE viscosity classes).
www.mbusa.com/content/dam/mb-nafta/us/owners/manuals/2020/Operators/MY20_GLC_Manual.pdf
operatingfluids.mercedes-benz.com/category/engine-oil/en
I have checked with the dealer, they use 229.5 because apparently Mercedes Canada tells them to use it. The dealer then told me to check with Mercedes Canada. So then Mercedes Canada won't answer the question about the oil spec. Said they are not qualified to answer and told me to check with the dealer. So what are they covering up, no one will take responsibility for the answer. Must be because the dealer gets the oil in bulk and puts it in everything. Or the new spec is just for epa emissions and is actually worse for wear. The 229.51 specifies 5w30 and 229.5 5w40. Maybe w40 is better for the turbos as they run really hot.
I have read the manual and the 223.2 spec which clearly states 229.51.
I just want it in writing cause if something breaks in the engine they will blame me if I use the wrong certified oil.
@@perrymahlmann6303 so if you were to buy oil from Mercedes for your car….what would they give you? I would call FCP Euro also if you have time. Good luck
It’s 7.4 qt but not 7.
You are correct. It’s 7.4 Qt. 7 liters.
Thanks
No show us how you removed the filter 😡
are you curious how I loosened and removed the top of the filter canister? If you look at section 4:32 through 5:00 minute mark of the video...it will show you the top of the canister and if you use an open crescent wrench or even a large socket that fits it...you can loosen it up and then remove it (pulling it out away from the engine). the filter will be on the end of the canister as you pull it out. It's fairly easy to do. loosen it up like any bolt. and remove. Good luck. you should be fine...it's easy.
Awesome video thanks 🙏🏼
