TotalHalibut, you're getting me through my grad school-induced wow hiatus. I won't even be able to buy cata til April... the horror! Keep the vids comin so I can get my fix! Thanks
@yellowfolder This 'everyone should see the content!' thing is ridiculous bullshit. You can see the content if you are good enough to do it. Otherwise, you can't. It's not a difficult concept to grasp and yet so many bleedingheart entitled casuals seem to not be able to fathom it. Heroic modes will never be a good enough substitute until you can do them without having to gear for ages in normal modes which are mindnumbingly easy. Easy/Hard = too few difficulty levels and bad design.
i had to watch your videos to get ready to heal these dungeons on heroic mode.I had to watch alot of them, so thanks for making them bearable to watch.
@eplx123 Protip - you tend to die on a blind run in bosses you have never done before. The fact that the group managed to beat the bosses with 1 dps dead speaks volumes about how easy they are. I would hardly call a couple of times 'a lot'
Another great video dude, thanks! As to the talents thing, I think the best idea would be similar to what you suggested, when you pick a spec at 10 it locks you into that role, but not the spec, so say if you're a mage and pick fire, you'd always BE fire, unless you paid to respec, but after that you'd be able to put points in whatever talents you needed at that point in time. of course if you did this, you'd need to raise the cost of respeccing ALOT (think 50/100g).
I totally agree with you about the minor re-spec option, Totalhalibut. As a protection warrior, there are certain instances where I would love to trade off on minor protection talents. Right now, I'm dual-speccing prot/prot because there are some talents that are excellent in instances, but pretty useless in raids (and vice versa). The ability to make minor tweaks would allow me to open up a DPS offspec.
On the note of the speccing - I think the whole "Minor respec" thing would be an amazing idea. It wouldn't be terribly overpowered since you could still customize talents, but it would be useful for certain encounters. Coming from a Frost Deathknight, there are times I just want full single target dps, and that's what I'll usually build for, but there are talents that let me throw up an AoE slow very easily, and quite spammable. That would be utility for certain fights.
making the changes you are talking about sounds good. I know playing a priest there are times I would like to be able to change those few points from time to time.
Re: Your talent suggestion. An item that allows you to rearrange the points not in your spec tree might work best, and it might even reset your 'default talent' after a certain time period. In essence, for say 30 minutes, you could move points around to have your interrupts and then when it expires or on consuming another item, you can grab those talents that let you cast while moving.
@MadnessIndeed I didn't suggest that the tree requirements should be removed. For example, if you remove a talent point from tier 4, you can only invest that point in tier 4 or lower in the same tree, unless you have at least 5 points in that tier already (assuming ofc you have other talents further down).
As an answer to your question regarding respecing during an instance, I like the idea, however as stated before it would lead to possible problems and loose a lot of meaning in your spec. As a middle ground have it require a regent or item to do in addition set it so that your first 31 points spent are hard spent points and cannot be changed using said item or regent. In effect you would only be able to move 10 points at max thus making your spec still mean something and keep that extra utility.
TB: I think I figured out why the shadow dmg debuff gets dispelled when he chaos bolts. it seems to me like the chaos bolt does more damage with greater stacks of the debuff.
I have a quick question TB i noticed when u switch to fire spec for a short time ur using frostfire bolt as ur main nuke, was wondering if something has changed since ur mage guide to make FFB more appealing as a fire mage or whether u were just playing with it? and of course Awesome Vid as always!
@TotalHalibut you know when you said that you could take off the talent points well what if you have inscription to have a scroll of tweaking that would allow you to take at least 1-8 points as you wish and put them somewhere else.....what do you think?
i agree with you on the option of having that minor respec button i mean i can remember pleanty of times on my lock were a few talents would have been better but i was locked into another talent i feel that that ideal is definately useful
Watching this really makes me kinda sad that TB isn't doing Warcraft content anymore. His dungeon and raid breakdowns were probably the best quality WoW content out there. Nowadays I just hope the man will someday go back to WoW. I know he won't play the game full time anymore, but even some little content would be great.
@LordGelsius What do you mean "Whenever you like"? where do you draw the line? If you make it limitless, what keeps you from using it over and over until you change your entire build? Unlike a reagent, that costs gold (limit) and can only be carried in a small amount (limit), a limitless design will make talent specs pointless.
Giving a comment as asked for. I watch the videos on RUclips - fan but I don't go overboard. I definitely agree with making it more convenient to tweek talents away from the class trainer. If it takes some semi-expensive reagent to do, I think that would fulfill someone who is interested beyond someone who is simply casual. This idea of being able to flip some talents around really goes with Bring the Player - and it also promotes players to expand their knowledge of their character and play.
For Springvale, my first attempt ended in an almost wipe where one of our group members kited him to the entrance, I had just come in and picked him back up and popped all my CDs to survive till the healer came back in and we killed him at the door and got the achievement in the process.
@blackbeltsimon22 I can't fricken watch the video because every time it starts, it stops again, and I have to refreshit, then it gives me the ad again and forces me to sit through it before the video starts just so it can freeze again.
hey Total, on the speccing thing... what you propose is essentially, instead of just dual spec, let people have as many specs as they want... but make them pay for them all... personally, i havent dual specced yet. im and 80 DK, and i was going to blood tank before 4.0.1 came out, and now... im going to be forced to. i love all your vids and i agree with you a lot of times. keep up the good work
To the idea you had on specs, I think it's a great idea really to let you respec within the tree you are already spec'd. If you wanted to implement it right though, I'd say make it a type of scroll that Inscriptionists make. Maybe that will give them a type of consumable to sell on the auction house to replace how they changed glyphs. As for the boss with the poison...they may be able to go back to prof putricide and take some mechanics there maybe.
What does your priest use to get all your party's health back to full before the "shadow wave spam"? He's Disc (iirc) so I'd assume Prayer of Mending + PW: Barrier (though I don't see it) + Divine Hymn + Power Infusion + Spammed Prayer of Healing? All the sudden (before 25%) your party's health just skyrockets back to almost full and that's the only way I can think of for a disc priest to do it.
Interesting idea about the specs, i would have to give it more thought before i commented further. Would you be looking to pay for this or you think it should just be an option. Thanks again for the vid though nice to get a look see as always
Hey waht new talent spec should i use to lvl my human mage ALT, soon my Worgan Druid, and then my human hunter???? what talent spec should i chose for them to lvl
I have an idea, and It's relevant to getting the Baron Ashbury achievement, you know, the one where you can't allow him to heal with stay of execution, I think it was called Pardon Denied or something like that. You said that asphyxiate hits everyone in line of sight, right? Do you know if a rogue's Smoke bomb would prevent it, as it acts as a line of sight block?
For the Silverlaine fight, I think it would be cool if they added an ability where they come over to someone (other then the tank) and grab them by the neck, dealing damage and making that person unable to do anything (also giving them some more health). That way they would actually do something and a potential grabbing of the healer could be interesting. Also, they could them things to say like "I remember you from my past" or things like that as they squeeze your neck because they remember you
An addendum to my earlier comment... I was just looking over the perks and such for guild advancement and it occurred to me that the suggested perk of 'rare reagents' could play well into the cost of an on-the-fly shift in talent trees. Perhaps you can shift builds within a tree whenever you like, but you need this rare reagent to shift to another spec while inside a dungeon/raid. Non-guilded players would have to return to their class trainers and pay gold.
do u guys think that to solve the utility talent issue tb was talking about they should just give u more talents so u can fill out a talent tree more completely or do u think that every fire mage being like every other fire mage a bad thing. Im interested to see what you guys think.
@Reblertss You need to join the video files together then compress/convert them to a different file format. Any video converter is free and gets the job done, although you will need to tweak the settings a bit to get the best quality.
yh that would be good i got a druid and i got feral cat and os as feral bear and its abit annyoing that i cant try moonkin or resto and did they get ride of the horses in the stables it use to be a mini boss that may droped a blue
Hey Totalbiscuit: why do I never see any druid healers in your videos? In patch 4 on live, druid healers are extremely overpowered, seen druid healers with T9 doing more than 10k HPS on ICC boss fights. Are they bad healers in Cataclysm, or are they just rare?
i understand the idea for multi-purpose classes, but as a mage you could set your opposite dual spec as a different variation on whichever spec you prefer.
Here's what I think about the talents: I don't know how it works for other classes, but for the two classes I primarily play (elemental shaman and blood/frost DK) our utility is more a matter of personal preference and has little applicability to fight-specific mechanics. That said, for pure dps classes, I think that it is okay to have two specs in the same tree with different ultiity, because we already have dual-spec, meaning we can recustomize between two specs that we design.
What happened to Arugal? I thought as Worgen we would be able to meet the 'father' of the worgen, I've heard, has he been moved... or has become part of a questline?
It'd be cool to have a very core set of talents still in either your primary or secondary spec but you can maybe have 'flexible minor' talents that you can change withing a dungeon on a cooldown?
@langgam2000 Why the heck would you have to remove the dual spec option? Changing your talents in your primary talent tree and changing to a different talent tree are two different things. And since there are classes that can heal, tank and dps, they would probably need that dual spec. Just saying...
I do seem to agree with you considering the talent changes. With the new instance bosses/ raid bosses, you need different utility talents depending on the boss. They need to make a reagant or some other item so you can do minor changes to fit the the situation. If they dont' give this option then you may be stuck with the talents you orignally choose. someone probably already asked this... But what will alliance version be like? I'm fairly positive that alliance won't be helping the forsaken take the place after all
Looks like a fun instance even if the bosses aren't going to be that big of a challenge. Are you still planning on going back and showing the full event for Vanclefs daughter in Deadmines?
Crazy that 13 years later these guides could be useful again
This has for some reason popped up on my feed, i miss this man... i shall enjoy the next 32 mins and reminisce my late teens
really interesting watching this 10 years later imo
One of the first TB videos I watched, really miss the guy.
And so the current talent system was born.
7:18 listen closely because that's the talent system they use now for talent points. This dude was ahead of his time.
The best man who’s EVER made Wow content
TotalHalibut, you're getting me through my grad school-induced wow hiatus. I won't even be able to buy cata til April... the horror! Keep the vids comin so I can get my fix! Thanks
Hey dude, how did grad school go? lmao
come on TB come back to making wow vidz, you made the best content out there :(
Ain't happening. He died.
@@75338 Notice when that comment was made, TB was still very much alive.
Your summarization of the Forsaken and their plague was epic. It really does fit them perfectly.
Re-watching TB's old videos. They were the best, his new stuff is great too, but this was the best.
Miss the good old days :/
6 years later and I'm still saying this :(
"Use the plague!" LOL
watching this before classic cata coming out it looks like a good expansion
After a stressful day of work, I love getting back here and listening to Mr. Totalbiscuit - luv ya mon! :P
Dude, TB, your spec-on-the-fly idea is great!
A year later, and this still holds true.
i had to watch your videos to get ready to heal these dungeons on heroic mode.I had to watch alot of them, so thanks for making them bearable to watch.

It would have been TB’s Birthday today. Happy birthday big fella, missed always. 🎉😢❤
thanks tb, i enjoy your videos a lot! im lucky to have a job i can watch them while i work. makes the day better!
Another great video dude, thanks!

I'm gonna start playing WoW once again very soon. I'm really looking forward to it. Thank you the video :) - Left me with blood on my tooth ;)
This dude's actually hilarious, funniest Brit who plays WoW so far :P
I totally agree with you about the minor re-spec option, Totalhalibut. As a protection warrior, there are certain instances where I would love to trade off on minor protection talents. lol, the whack a mole allusion was priceless. perfectly sums up the concept of group wide low and pointless damage.
@TheShnitzel problem with that idea is that if you wanted to remove talent points from lower in the tree you'd have to use the entire stack.. :/
On the note of the speccing - I think the whole "Minor respec" thing would be an amazing idea. It wouldn't be terribly overpowered since you could still customize talents, but it would be useful for certain encounters.

he says turn your sound back on after the spoiler. but, how would you know if your sound was off?
Rest in power King
I completely agree with your thoughts on the spec thing. Perhaps a one time fee like the dual spec to respec whenever you want.
What addon shows your targets spellbar underneath the target window?
@TotalHalibut you know when you said that you could take off the talent points well what if you have inscription to have a scroll of tweaking that would allow you to take at least 1-8 points as you wish and put them somewhere else.....what do you think?

would arcane with the increased damage for intterrupting be good for this instnance or is it 2 much aoe trash for that 2 be effective
So... As fire your using frostbolt , Maintaining Ice Lance then using Frostfire Bolt on Talent Proc?
what would happen if alliance went to run the instance? would the forsaken be marked friendly? or will there be worgen in there??

Hey waht new talent spec should i use to lvl my human mage ALT, soon my Worgan Druid, and then my human hunter???? what talent spec should i chose for them to lvl
i really like your thoughts of the talent system
Is this the same story wise for the alliance or does something else happens with the instance for the alliance?
are their still rare spawns in these instances aka deadmines and shadowfang or are they now not avalable in the heroics only
I have an idea, and It's relevant to getting the Baron Ashbury achievement, you know, the one where you can't allow him to heal with stay of execution, I think it was called Pardon Denied or something like that.
You said that asphyxiate hits everyone in line of sight, right? Do you know if a rogue's Smoke bomb would prevent it, as it acts as a line of sight block?
so how did he kill slyvannas, did he do the whole putricide thing(hide in the shadows)?
I feckin miss you dude :(
how much months after caty hits can you race change into a goblin or an worgen?
there is obviously some lore behind this for the horde but what about the alliance version of this? what happens if you do SFK with the alliance?
near the beginning you opened up ur spell book and there was a flashing skull near the bottom of it, what was that?
@PforPunk Shouldn't it be called floories since you're more likely to end up on the floor?
You said you could've used Cold Snap but how can you use Cold Snap when you are specced fire (which you were during that kill).
For the Silverlaine fight, I think it would be cool if they added an ability where they come over to someone (other then the tank) and grab them by the neck, dealing damage and making that person unable to do anything (also giving them some more health). did the bosses change on regular low lvl version and if they did what happend to arugal cause he drops a fairly good robe for lower levels
Are you able to blink out of the mystery poison. On the third boss?

Made me laugh for a good time.
Wondering somthing i was looking at amaranth is that the goblin male casting animation?

Hey TB,
I would agree with both the need and method you proposed to the semi-talent change (in the field) capability. My only suggestion would be to add a player controlled reagent involved with its mechanic and not gold. This reagent would also need to be PLAYER CONTROLLED as in not a stupid little memory check as such the vanishing powder has become. Feed the AH! Anyhow, thanks for your donation of time and bandwidth with these vids and look forward to more =D have a good one.
do the alliance get a diff version? i dont see the forsaken phasing with them
Hey TB quick question, what are the four rings that keep popping up around the healer's feet?
ow hey i also agree on your"minor" respec idea , as a healer i usually need a dps spec to at least to dailies with AND as a healer ideally would be best to have two specs, a raid heal spec and a tank heal spec.Your minor respc idea would be amazingly handy for players who like to micro manage their specs to get the best out of them.
Mr Biscuit - You mentioned a weekly JP cap, has it been said how much it will be... or it's just a "planned" thing?
Hey TB, what do you use FRAPS to record videos or some other software?
ok fast question, can you buy gear from justice points in cataclys or is it only for 80 gear :P?
I got a question is this instance diffrent for alliance? Or can they even do it.
How about when you enter a dungeon/raid you go to a selection screen and can choose which spec to use on each boss.....something along those lines just an idea
do only get valorpoints for raids or is it a bug that u get justice points in heroics?
someone probably already asked this... But what will alliance version be like? I'm fairly positive that alliance won't be helping the forsaken take the place after all
@TotalHalibut What were those wings that you had at the end of the fourth boss?
Looks like a fun instance even if the bosses aren't going to be that big of a challenge.
Are you still planning on going back and showing the full event for Vanclefs daughter in Deadmines?
that tree changing idea is an amazin idea
