I can't wrap my head around why I would buy this as an EV though, and I severely doubt I ever will. I don't want FWD even on an ICE GTI, but I put up with it because the industry takes advantage of its interior packaging strengths and thus most affordable car chassis have that layout. Them keeping that layout here is a deal killer for me though. There should be no inherent packaging advantage to that as an EV, they've added a significant amount of torque which is no bueno for FWD, and I've not heard that they are playing with simulated gearing like Toyota is to add pleasure to the single gear experience and help mitigate the torque delivery. I would say it's a cynical reskinning of their other EV's, but it doesn't even appear to be that, which leaves me puzzled as to why they would do it incorrectly. A FWD EV isn't a sporty EV in other words, way too heavy, way too much front wheel torque.
They limit the ID3 to 99mph? why such a low speed? (I know there isnt a place where you could legally drive that speed but seemingly every compact segment car can do that right now)
That rear wing is more than just a styling element. That upward lip is what I'd like to see on all SUVs and hatch backs. The reason is a bit mundane, but it's a real thing.
