@@fortheloveofnoise Land Cruiser pickup with V8 has power. They also have a very old inline six sold to UN in Asia and Africa. Unfortunately EPA regulations will not allow them. It’s old tech too so few would appreciate it.
A lot of this truck was designed in Australia, even the name "TASMAN" is from the sea that separates Australia and New Zealand, from the Dutch explorer Abel Tasmanis, I spotted one on the road yesterday, it looks much better in real life, the desert sand colour would be the pick, the big downside is the position of the headlights, they are placed too far apart and in perfect position to get damaged the first time off road in a bushy track by a stick,
It’s close to being the next Aztek, but in a really cool, endearing way. Love that Kia and Hyundai are going wild with their design and giving us not more of the same 🤌
I was hoping you'd talk about this one - People are critisising the looks but they NEEDED to stand out from the Hilux, Ford Ranger and Mitsubishi Triton/L200's on the market, they all look the same.
I was awaiting your video on the Tasman since the launch, and here we are 😂 I love The Tasman’s design, it look’s properly functional whilst being different from the competition!
I've seen it on other channel that Kia has a military manufacturing division that produces Armour Trucks somewhat similar to Tasman. So I'm pretty sure this truck's very all terrain capable.
The base model strangely looks good. The tray back gets rid of one of the dumb looking fenders, and the straight line of the rear tray makes the front fender go from goofy to cool.
The design is interesting, and it's pretty divisive. Lot of people on social media in NZ have been saying how ugly it is, but I'll reserve judgement until I see one in person.
FYI Kia has done a lot of military trucks for South Korean military. No stranger to making rugged trucks. Some of them were exported to South America and South East Asia.
My guess is it will eventually, they’re probably crunching the numbers and trying to figure where to build it because of the US chicken tax. Doe’s Hyundai/KIA have any factories In Canada?
oddly enough the weird ass fender flares look okay up front - in the back - no, just no. I'm glad they are going to offer replacements. Hopefully, that means third parties will be able to create optional flares - might get interesting in the future. Overall, I like the weird design - I love the interior.
No giant tires, just functional stuff. My only complaint is that the interior is too nice for something that looks so utilitarian. Don't love the eyebrows over the wheelarches but could live with that part. But it NEEDS to be a truck like the Tacoma was before it was a lifestyle vehicle for showy suburbanites. Very curious if it's bigger in the back seat than other trucks from this segment.
I would strongly consider trading in my Santa Cruz for this depending on the price. That extra foot or so of bed space means a lot when you're talking about loading bikes/motorcycles.
Sometimes that's a good thing. The way design works is that if it's boring and bland nobody will hate it, but nobody will really like it. If they dare to go bold there will be some that love it and some that hate it.
As a European, the only pick up trucks I ever see are always bought by people who want a massive, loud car to boost their small ego's and the bed never has a single scratch on it, this feels like a truck people would buy because they actually need it
Kia/Hyundai and those fast fashion brands like H&M both make stylish interesting stuff but after a year or so it’s not trendy anymore and are easily replaced.
It's been talked about in Australia for over a year, unfortunately most comments here since the launch have been negative, time will tell is it's going to be a high selling model I guess,
If anything, Kia should use the body on frame platform for a rugged off-road SUV, if it undercuts the competition they’d have a winner in the US market… pickup truck buyers are too stuck on their three American brands for Kia to try and take a slice.
Wow I was waiting for your review, but I didn't expect this reaction haha. I thought you would hate it. To be honest, it is growing on me, but them headlights are going to get destroyed off road.
the side panels looked like they are from a different design team. The side headlights also look out of the place. Would have been better add more soviet if they put them inside the front grille. Do not like
Even Kia has a Body on Frame off-road capable truck before Honda does. The Ridgeline isn’t a bad truck by any means, but c’mon Honda, we know you can make a Taco competitor. If Kia can, you can
It really does have a soviet truck vibe, and I'm here for it!
its amazing 10/10 that's how truck are suppose to looks
Having the steelies and with everything blacked out is definitely the way to go. The 4 door looks like a knockoff toy.
Just please don’t run for public office 😂
A single cab is offered and a manual transmission? In 2024? Are you kidding me?! I'm impressed!!
Damn, that front looks like you could hide 15 kids from the driver instead of the normal 12
I’m just relieved that it’s not HD truck sized or it would be as dangerous as an HD truck lol
Still 7 short of the Escalade :D
Homer Simpson designed it.
@@beamtweez1210 dont blame the designers tho, its designed for the American Costumer, Kia in Korea sells good stuff
What is that? It looks weird and cool at the same time.
The headlight positioning reminds me a lot of the second gen Dodge Ram 1500 (1994) which is one of my favorite pickup truck designs ever
6:50 That base model is the coolest looking modern truck by far. I would want one.
They got a leaf from land cruiser pickup truck booklet. Same vibe except this looks different and nicer.
@boxoffisa sadly we get neither but I would be content with either
@@fortheloveofnoise Land Cruiser pickup with V8 has power. They also have a very old inline six sold to UN in Asia and Africa. Unfortunately EPA regulations will not allow them. It’s old tech too so few would appreciate it.
Kia releasing an original, capable pickup truck was not on my bingo card in 2024
Those lights are not on the right side for off-road at all. Imagine the cost hitting a tree 🌲
KiA and Hyundai have been dominating with the designs
🤨
I'm here wondering if Hyundai would have one coming since both of them make 2 versions that share the same chassis
This one looks like 💩, though.
Between this and Santa Fe I don’t know what Looks better?? Same motor
Koreans don't play.. Very underestimated
I like this classic design. Kia makes a lot of military trucks so it should perform well too.
🤔???
KIA is one of the largest and best military truck manufacturer.
A lot of this truck was designed in Australia, even the name "TASMAN" is from the sea that separates Australia and New Zealand, from the Dutch explorer Abel Tasmanis, I spotted one on the road yesterday, it looks much better in real life, the desert sand colour would be the pick, the big downside is the position of the headlights, they are placed too far apart and in perfect position to get damaged the first time off road in a bushy track by a stick,
cages around the lights will be a popular mod
@@fortheloveofnoise the Bullbar solves that problem that was on display at the Tasmanian launch event
Australians will lower them and only use it for city driving, just like they do with the Hilux.
i hate how big the space is between the grille and headlights, if they were closer i might actually like the design but i wouldnt bet on it
With the exterior in black, this truck doesn't look that horrendous. hopefully Kia offers a green color for this as well.
That truck makes the fiat multipla look attractive, but i also think it is kinder cool.
XD yes its horrendous
Don't worry, Fiat Multipla will be in the market again and beat them
@@MalteseFalconYTlol no, this looks amazing, especially at 6:49
Soviet truck mention made me yearn for engines with more litres than cylinders.
2 door base truck with steel bed cool looks military. The others just are wrong.
It's like a mid-large size version of the hilux champ 3:42, damn it now i want one
front is giving Chevy HHR vibes.
they should widen the headlights or the grille
Not Ugly, but different, and different is good.
Not technically Kia's first truck. They made the cabover Bongo in non-US markets for decades!
looks very cool. looks like Soviet kamaz truck
I do like the base version in black but all the other look so ugly that it makes the Ridgeline look straight up great
It somehow looks like a facelift of an old truck while being completely brand new.
They have already announced a facelift (jokes) 😂

1st priority should be competing with those trucks, but they can't with an underpowerd 2.2diesel.
2:42 KIA annoyed me with the small reflective strip on the stinger tail lights as well😂
I was awaiting your video on the Tasman since the launch, and here we are 😂

Been looking forward to your take on this, mate. Gives me serious Pontiac Aztec vibes, unfortunately…😢
The base model strangely looks good. The tray back gets rid of one of the dumb looking fenders, and the straight line of the rear tray makes the front fender go from goofy to cool.
3:40 This is beautiful
looks like a jeep gladiator with a body kit
What’s the front of the car? I can’t rell
It’s even uglier than the Cybertruck, That takes skill!
nah the cypertruck is the worst and ugliest
at least it won't rust and have half-inch panel gaps lol
Not only is this at least as ugly as the cybertruck… both are made to look even uglier by the new Scouts

All the other rival ute manufacturers just let out a huge sigh of release.. followed by a whole lot of loud uncontrollable laughter.
Still playing red alert 2 💪
Looks more badass than a lot more powerful vehicles in its class.
It looks weird because the front grill looks too small. If they enlarged it then it would look alright.
lol no, front grill is perfect size, if anything, I would make it slightly smaller
At least they have balls, if it’s a 6 speed diesel I’ll buy one right away.
Did not expect Kia to go this hard
FYI Kia has done a lot of military trucks for South Korean military. No stranger to making rugged trucks. Some of them were exported to South America and South East Asia.

Nice reference the C&C RA (still playing it)
the Tasman looks odd, but as you said, it has the "je ne sais quoi" that makes it stand out

it looks like the bmw m2 design language with the flat faces and LED positioning and styling
... and the stuff over the fender... fender awning?
Reminds me of the great FJ Cruiser but in Kia's language.
Narrowness gives me gladiator vibes and front end and fender flares looks like previous Tacoma
The Australians hate it
I'm one of those, it's dead ugly
You asked if it had the signature Kia "tiger-nose" grill. It does. It's a sabre-tooth tiger grill. 🐅
We will see this soon in Leonida
I don't know what to think of it.. its like someone took inspiration on an OshKosh semi truck and made a pick up.
I would appreciate if Kia fix The Beluga thing on its front-end design. Performance wise, Mohave suits 3.0 V6 diesel and gasoline versions....

Mate U have done the best comments on this new truck. I love it to new bold design 😀
I hope this comes to the US market... but i unfortunately doubt it would sell well.
I think it's a 1 tonne truck so pretty to expensive for the US market. It's a medium truck with upgraded axlss and payload of a full-size HD truck.
I would strongly consider trading in my Santa Cruz for this depending on the price. That extra foot or so of bed space means a lot when you're talking about loading bikes/motorcycles.

I totally hate it. This channel is becoming less and less critical, calling every new car as great design when in reality it's either boring or fugly

This guy just nailed the review. I am really impressed by this thing. Very military 😂
Would love to hear your comments on the new Brabus rocket gts 'clown shoe'.
Thanks for another great video. Love what Hyundai is doing these days.

It will be mainly sold at African, Middle-Eastern and Australian Markets
If someone buys and wraps this with a duo-tone bright blue and white PPA it will be a true GAZ-53 descendant
