Up there with the Cybertruck in the looks department, missed opportunity KIA. Hyundai and KIA are going backwards in vehicle design with some of their models
Yeh, the figures on paper are at the flywheel not at the rear wheels. From what i heard the lux with 500nm is around 380nm at the rear wheels, similar to the dmax which 450nm on paper. But to tune the lux and ranger to 500 nm at the wheels you need to upgrade the transmission, with the dmax you dont.
I love the look. It looks like an automotive whale, exactly what these trucks are! You can see that Kia has a sense of humor and I am sure that there are truck buyers who will appreciate the comedy in this. If I was ever in the market for these, this design would win me over.
I'm currently looking for V6 Ranger, so that is what I'm comparing it too. That said. Bigger dimensions, Tick Better driver and center screen, Tick Bigger interior, Tick 240v power in cab and tray, Tick Bigger payload, VERY BIG TICK F150 style center console, Tick Extra Wireless Charger, Tick Better access to 4X4 controls with buttons, Tick Better Back seat storage, Tick Better Back seat adjustment, Tick I don't even mind the exterior design, but I wont be buying one because I want to tow a caravan with ease in the hills and they didn't give it a V6 Turbo Diesel.
There's absolutely nothing interesting, intrigueing or innovative about it whatsever. It has a pointless party trick..a storage compartment over rear wheel. OMG wow!! Against the Shark which at the very least has a mind blowingly interesting and innovative drive train, the Tasman is DOA.
Eeew... severely underpowered and probably overpriced when it's ready leased. Firstly, you nailed the review. I think you basically addressed what most of us are thinking here in Australia, that this design is not suited to our Australian style of a bold, tough looking ute!. Sometimes surprises me how the Koreans Chinese always think that their designs are gonna really hit home with the Australian market with their designs when they clearly don't get what really sells here and that's the ranger and the HiLux. Secondly and on a positive note, the interior design is looking pretty well up to speed with most other utes they know how to make you feel comfortable and the rear of the car is actually quite ok I guess but ultimately, this is really designed for GI Joe... more so a toy trying to look like the big boys!
in the eye of the beholder it seems, at least you can't see it when you are in the divers seat, having said that, you still have to park it in your front driveway..................in a busy suburb.
Military based design mode. Squared off and functional. Yes it's sure different to the car design based utes that currently fill the market. Strong, square, fufunctional, masculine, Great approach and departure angles. Good technology including a basic well tried engine using diesel. I'm signing. Shove your BYD up your Jackson, this Kia has a transfer case which the Shark doesn't. I don'tneed a racing ute, I want a diesel, transfer case, off road beast. I'll take this.
ugly as sin lights so far out if you put a hooped bar on it youd be cutting of a ton of peripheral light, kia has a done of ok to nice looking vehicles to take cue's off god knows how they dropped the ball so hard on this thing interior is nice and should have had both engines available cant picture seeing many of these about
Sadly for them, shamelessly trying to tap into Aussie culture and failing hard with that name (the worst since Toyota made the country collectively cringe twice, with the Lexcen and then the Avalon), this thing looks ugly as all hell and nobody serious about heading off road is going to buy a car made from the people who brought you kpop.
How this DESIGN got signed off on multiple levels I'll never know?!?
Good luck competing in Aus with this thing. Our current supply has nothing to worry about. The BYD Shark leaves this thing for dead.
Why all kia Tasman press cars are
In black? To hide fugly sides
tasman vs shark 154kw/440nm vs 321kw/650nm..... rear live axle/leaf spring vs double wishbone..... game over
Its as ugly as F... wasn't worth the wait, will have to wait to see what the next version will look like. BYD got my attention now.
it looks okay in the prototype.. now...
Up there with the Cybertruck in the looks department, missed opportunity KIA.
Hyundai and KIA are going backwards in vehicle design with some of their models
It's the KIA version of the Simpson's Canyonaro
BYD Shark is what Kia should have built … oh well, missed opportunity while BYD is struggling to keep up with orders.
Yeah the looks are horrendous but the most concerning part is the engine is just piss weak… Some of the 500nm motors struggle to even tow 2.5-3T.

I think GWM is convincing me more and more...

Kia are out of their mind!
Anyone remember the Daewoo Korando from '98?? Yep, only a face a mother could love..
Thank you for your unique approach. Your videos are a real find in the world of RUclips.🤸🦎💿
This will go down like a scarecrow at a beauty show.
Should have put a twin turbo v6 petrol in this and maybe ppl won’t give a shit about how it looks. Instead they put a poxy motor in it.
that was my thought, as a Wildtrak owner, the fact you have a 6 pot option just makes their salesmen quite excited.
Pretty on the inside.
Thought the ranger was ugly but we have a winner

Where is the australian pick up??? Nothing
Underpowered and hideous, pretty poor attempt from Kia imo.
I heard it's now due around mid 2025 in Oz not January 2025. Maybe they are doing some changes?
For it to be polarising it need to have a two or more almost equal camps of yes, no ,or maybe , however almost everyone hates the looks .
Plenty of sales on Oxford st or the valley Brisbane.

As a kia owner, it's horrible
So attractive ❤❤❤😊😊😊😊
said no one ever
I like it as well
in the eye of the beholder it seems, at least you can't see it when you are in the divers seat, having said that, you still have to park it in your front driveway..................in a busy suburb.
Feels like the designer doesn't have much experience designing a UTE
I mean I’ve got to give him credit; he did try everything he could to find some positive things to say about this UTE.
glass half full person, deserves a medal.
I'm sure kia made a nice contribution towards his Christmas holidays budget.
What a steaming pile of turd😂
Mahindra meets Lego
Why did it have to hit every single branch on the way down out of the ugly tree?
What the actual,,,,
How did they get it so wrong looking. It’s like they tried to make it fugly.
Who will buy one ?

You are joking.Right?
why do you need a transfer case in a ute that has an electric motor on each axle?
If Kia can shift 25 hundred of these in a year, I'd eat my hat
your hat is safe.
Yep, Kia will sell 25000 units....in one decade.
Lets wait for Mahindra Global Pickup.
I really don't understand why they fit so called (Rated Recovery Points) on cars that don't even have a winch fitted ???
Kia ? No it looks like LEGO .....hahahahahaha !
the final of worst design 2024 is a draw between this and the cyber truck .
Sharp and flat hardware is just lazy.
I have owned 4 black Utes, this one looks terrible in black, the sand colour looks ok, they should be showing it off not the black.
Weird that they did not go for an Hybrid, pretty idiotic
How much of a ... " contribution 😜" did kia bring to the table for you to be trying to pull the wool ?
If they're $30k they might sell them 😂
ugly as sin lights so far out if you put a hooped bar on it youd be cutting of a ton of peripheral light, kia has a done of ok to nice looking vehicles to take cue's off god knows how they dropped the ball so hard on this thing interior is nice and should have had both engines available cant picture seeing many of these about
Speechless
not quite 😃
NEVER show that little blue thing on screen again, EVER.
it's butt ugly, it's under powered, Does it come with a paper bag to place over you head so no one knows it you driving this thing.
no budget for designer😂
ugliest??? no, that would be cybertruck.
🤢🤢🤢🤢🤮
I really like the KIA brand and already own a Sportage. However I feel the Tasman, aside from the terrible styling, is too little too late……..
The front clip of most modern Kia cars is nice! The new Sportage looks great, how could they get this wrong?
when you look at the shark, it somehow looks just fine, no shocks etc, so why did they have to ruin the front as well as the side.
Gross
What a disappointment.
Please be independent and strong this is an ugly Ute with small engine…pleeaase
Asians arn't very good at car design , thats why Xiaomi got a europian designer for their car .
My 5 year old autistic son can draw a better Ute then this design
“Tiger nose grill” is the most ridiculous design element by any carmaker. An insult to the magnificent tiger.
Over engineered and ugly.
