- I have a spinal cord injury and use a wheelchair. I live and travel full time SOLO in my accessible campervan. In this video I am making my way back to Canada after spending my winter in California. I met a stranger on the side of the road near Lake Tahoe and gave him a ride. Would you have done the same??

I’m curious if anyone else would have given Leaf a ride?? Any other safety measures I could have taken?
Definitely!
@@erisholly4 love it!!
Absolutely! I actually recently did a very similar thing and trusted my gut and helped a guy that had miles to walk to a gas station for fuel. Trusting ourselves is a gift and then that is balanced with being as smart as you can about a situation as well. Good on you!
@@Donya_and_Priya what a great thing for you do to, I’m glad you took a chance!
I'm so happy I saw someone like me as motivated as you I'm trying to finish my last message and something happened. I'm also a paraplegic I really want to meet you I can't type much well you know.
I am glad you met someone that is nice and kind. Once in a while we have to interact with good people to get the bad ones out if our heads.
Happy to find you. I have a cane and have expensive hearing aids and some limbs that have a mind of their own. I was hit head on with my camper attached. I was a hiker/mountain climber "before" (Kilimanjaro etc)....but now I'm going to continue with my dream ...with modifications. I will never complain again about 2 extra steps needed after seeing your inspirational story. I'm from Ottawa....maybe I'll see you one day. I am packing and modifying my vehicle and out in the Fall.
You are amazing, and a very inspirational person! Thank you for shearing with us! ❤❤❤
@@mariettakovecses2825 thank you so much for commenting and watching my videos, it means a lot.
Sweet. I would have picked up in those circumstances, too. Good for you!
It's a shame you can't trust many people these days
You have a good feeling about people, keep this up
It could a lifelong friendship
Have FUN and be SAVE
I just heard from Leaf actually…he still hasn’t made it home to San Jose! 😮
Life is full of moments where we must trust ourselves to choose and we learn through these choices. You used many senses to make your choice, you took sensible precautions, but ultimately the 'rules of the road' and 'help a fellow traveller' was the way to go. No journey worth taking is without risk. Enjoy your journey. Thanks for sharing.
Such wise words! Thank YOU for sharing.
You are some amazing girl 👍🏻🤩 are you writing a book because you write so well almost poetic and kind soul you are too. You did all the right things and took all the right precautions. Good for you.👍🏻🤗🇨🇦
@@m.l.e.8956 nobody has ever accused me of being poetic before…I’m usually very succinct but perhaps RUclips has helped me improve my words. As for a book…know any good ghost writers? 😂
It's nice you helped him and you were careful. I just found your channel through your interview with Bob Wells, You have inspired me to spend more time outdoors. Someday I hope to have a van and travel...I just have to figure out how to pay for it all.
Welcome! Yes, finances are always something to consider, but I hope you find a way
Your are such a kind soul ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
@@elizabethramos2668 goes to show you can be kind AND live to tell about it 😉
good for you
Yes, I would have taken it with similar caution, I am glad that you will have a good day in company 👌🏼💯
I’m glad to hear some agree with me :)

Cool content. Glad I founf you. ~from Canada as well.
Welcome aboard, so glad to have you here 🙌
@@Keepinitwheel306 So glad to be here.
This is super inspiring! I just released a vlog road tripping from VA to CA in an 18 wheeler! It was a ton of fun 💯
I’ll have to check it out once I’m back in good wifi
Live in the moment and take life and all its connections as they come. I would help him out too!
Tahoe is beautiful! Nice of you to give him a ride- and good idea being smart about it with all the safety precautions!
I gotta go back and spend some more time there
You are so brave! Love your content and honesty
Life on the road is about balancing bravery, smarts, and using gut! I certainly won’t make a habit of picking up strangers but I’m glad Leaf made this time easy and worthwhile.
I think you made reasonable precautions. Sometimes you just have to trust your gut…👍🏻😉
Right?? Although I’m not going to make a habit of picking up strangers lol
Hi, my son is a bike packer and wants to bike pack around the world. It’ll be great if some kind person like you would picked him up. I think I may have coached against you when you played with Tim Frick.
Ah that’s amazing your son wants to take that on. I’ve hosted a few bike packers and might host one next week at my home in Canada - each of their stories sounds incredible.
Yes!! I played under the wise Tim Frick from 2005-2008. Small world!
How wonderful❤
hi to Leaf . just realized we get 6 months per year in Mexico and Canada with US enhanced ID 💡
So much beauty to explore in these countries…pack your bags now ;)
Awesome my friend! Thank you! Hi from New Zealand x
Thanks for tuning in again! 🥰

Wow that viewing point at 2:10 was awesome, I liked the way you assessed and decided to give the guy a ride , I would have done the same, of course I'm a big old ugly guy so it's not quite the same LOL. I wouldn't give me a ride LOL. Looks like a delicious meal there too. Loved the story you included as well Thanks
I think I was “high on life” at that viewpoint (you know the feeling when things are breathtaking) and that’s why I hardly hesitated to give him a lift. Glad I did!
@@Keepinitwheel306 yep that's an awesome feeling , that view there could do that
Back in the 70s and 80s hitchhiking was ok
Totally! My brother did a lot in the 90’s even but as a solo female traveler with a disability I ought to be extra cautious
@@Keepinitwheel306thank goodness you were blessed with great new friend
