    While Im all for helping these fish, am I really the only one suspicious of the ziplock bags?!? That's not the type of bags used to transport fish anywhere professionally....also, the water is tinted blue...several stress relieving water treatments, ick treatment, parasite treatments dye the water blue. And...that water is VERY clean for neglected, trashed fish...

    Poor little bettas.....this broke my heart. We had our betta fish for 2 years and he was loved. We always left a light on, because he was afraid of the dark. We had a fish sitter if we weren't going to be home for a couple of days. He loved to curl up and nap in his green glass frog. He would wiggle when I passed by his bowl, because he knew I fed him....he would literally wait until I pushed the flakes down so they floated down TO HIM. That sweet little fish is buried in our yard.

    I absolutely love my betta fish, he's an elephant ear variant, and he is so adorable. I've had him for about three weeks I want to say, and he already recognizes me, the moment he sees me he swims to the front of the tank very happily when he doesnt do that with the rest of my family. He has also made two bubble nests so far. His coloring is very pretty too, he's like a light mauve color. Kinda hard to explain since it's a mix between light pink and light purple.
    We have had betta fish before when I was younger, and admittedly we didnt know how to take care of them. But we know a lot better know, they're like little fish puppies.

    Before bashing a company you might want to think. If you knew pet/fish stores you'd know that was a shipment bag that stores get their fish in. Bettas have to be kept separate so they come in little zip lock bags. The blue tint is anti stress chemical that suppliers put in bags of fish when shipping. Chances are the fish were mixed in with trash & someone took the trash out not knowing the fish were mixed in. Or they were piling up the empty shipment bags, thought they were all empty, & threw them away. I highly doubt especially a "big box pet store" would throw away a bag full of bettas. Bettas aren't really cheap.

    I work for a pet store and yea.... we get our bettas' in small bags. But not zip lock bags. There is no way those fish were shipped in those bags, The bags to ship bettas' in have structure to them. They actually can stand straight up while sitting on the counter. This provides a big air pocket for betta fish and keeps an area for the fish to swim in. Someone placed those fish in the ziplocks after they arrived to the store. No store manager would allow $100-$200 dollars worth of bettas' to just be tossed out.

    Thinking about getting a Betta… how long do you have to acclimate them for?

    • @Ma.f7kx
      @Ma.f7kx Год назад +2

      You acclimate any fish for at least 30-minutes to an hour, while intermittently dropping a few drops of your tank water into the acclimating bag, to also get them used to the tank water. This is what I do, anyway

      They say not to add water from tank. Just acclimate then by putting them in current container in the tank

    Sooooooo it was either Petco or petsmart. & I’ve been in Alota both stores & I’m gonna go w my guess being it was a Petco. Bc Petco always APPEARS to have way too many bettas.
