    As I learned about fish keeping and aquascaping my tanks slowly progressed in size. 5, 6, 10, 20, 29....but my favorite is the 20 long. It gives you lots of space to scape and for your fish to swim around without being very deep to reach into. Its very satisfying to watch for fish enjoy the entire width. Only problem I've had is my frogbit roots are getting way too long and curling st the bottom! Good thing I like enchanted forest themes lol

    • @thefluffyeasteregger
      @thefluffyeasteregger 2 года назад +7

      @@JadeWinters02 Of course, but why have a 5 when you could have a 10? Some plants like swords are a bit too big for 5 gal, anyway. Plus, the bigger the tank, the more stable the water parameters ;)

    • @bundlesofjoe
      @bundlesofjoe 2 года назад

      If they have the money and space a 75 gallon all male mixed mbuna tank would probably be better. The parameters will be significantly easier to maintain and it will give experience with semi aggressive fish which is invaluable for a community set up which is what I feel most beginners hope to achieve eventually. I know I did personally.

    So far, my favourite aquarium size is 15 gallons because that's the cheapest for its size in my country. I go closer to 5 gallons and the price goes up to a hundred bucks or so, I go bigger and the price goes up as well. 15 gallons costs 45 bucks. A 10-gallon tank costs 50 bucks, a 7.1-gallon cube costs 40bucks, a 5 gallon tank costs between 48 bucks and 150 bucks... Sellers are weird

      I have two of them, not too many people seem up to the challenge of the tall hex 😄. I have large schist arranged in a henge in one, vals along the rear- and besides the tall plants, you can get a big fat Father Fish chonk of substrate in there (with plenty of room left over for Dr Novak's plenum- I have seven inches in the rear. That doesn't sound right, lol...)

    10 gallons is a great size for a small tank, good for dwarf gourami species and bettas. It’s also ok for some teeny tiny schooling fish like chili rasboras. One of my (now ex) friends got a betta knowing I have 5 fish tanks and am literally going to college for marine biology, and didn’t bother asking me questions about setup/maintenance. I found out she cycled the tank for only a week, had a 3 gallon tank, and had very sharp decor + a mystery snail. Glad that fish died :( after I tried to explain all of bettas basic/minimum requirements (in a very nice/polite way, and explaining WHY the betta needs what it needs,) she ignored me and would complain the fish was sick in a mutual group chat. 😐😐😭😭😭

Someone was buying tons of fish ( hopefully they have good tanks ) and I saw one of the Jack dempseys that I rehomed there is still chilling in one of the 100 gallon tanks with a ton of endlers ( the other 2 were sold to someone with a big tank) and I think he will stay there permanently as his body is a bit deformed and has a missing fin but he's happy and active. If you want shrimps, get some neocaridina species (like red cherries). They are the hardiest and easiest to start a colony with. (They breed better in warm water, around 80 farenheight). They are really fun to keep!

    My favorite aquarium size is a 54 litre (14.2 gallons)
    It's big enough for a group of small shoaling fish or a betta and a lot of beautiful hardscape and plants, but also small enough that it's not so heavy that it needs a very specialized stand.
    Also.. I can fit more 14.2 gallon tanks in my house than 60 gallon tanks and therefore I can have a bigger diversity of fish.
    But 20 gallons would be really nice too 👌

    Hi! I’m from canada and everyone keeps their house at 20 degrees Celsius all year round, almost. Canadians are always freezing in other countries in winter because we don’t understand why your houses are so damn cold. But I learned why. No insulation. Bizarre. Fill your walls with pink fiberglass and stop freezing and killing the planet

    • @kasperkjrsgaard1447
      @kasperkjrsgaard1447 2 года назад +2

      In Denmark a specific amount of insulation is mandatory. I usually keep 23-24˚ C in my apartment. Saves a bit on the aquarium heaters and keep me comfortable too.

  • @jkaminske248
    @jkaminske248 2 года назад

    My rescue betta fish, Arthur, has a planted 40 gallon aquarium (WITH TOTALLY NATURAL DECOR - nothing artificial) that he shares with 10 ghost shrimp, two mystery snails, two yellow bristlenose plecos, and three African dwarf frogs. Arthur loves exploring the cave under the tree stump with roots. The water is slightly tea colored, rich in tannin. There’s a heater and a gentle sponge filter. Unsure if it’s Arthur’s personality or because he has so much territory and hiding places, but he shows no aggression towards the other tank mates. He’s very peaceful, curious, and loves to see me.
    Most of my family and friends are surprised that I don’t have more fish… 😅 then I unleash an unsolicited rant about overstocking and how betta fish are some of the most abused fish.

    I have a 40 liter now, but I used to have a 70-gallon, and it was wonderful. I kind of miss those days of the big tanks. That being said, however, I do like how personal it is keeping this smaller tank. I can afford to plant it more, water changes are way easier, as is algae control, and since I don't have any schooling or mega swimming fish (I used to keep zebra danios), it's easier when I need to do some maintenance.

    I love the dimensions of 40 gallon breeders, 20 gallon longs, and the aqueon 60 gallons and 15 gallons that I’ve seen become more popular recently. Any cube aquarium is great too, marineland used to have a 60 gallon cube that looked really cool. I think it’s more about dimensions than water volume for me. But in terms of water volume I like 10-20 gallons best because I find the aquascapes are small but not nano, and my favorite type of setup is a betta with tank mates, which 10-20 gallons do well.
