they may not change their sperm packet for upto 4 months so you could be waiting for around 6 months before knowing if they bred the new breed! i breed 1000s of guppies over the last few years and i suggest a deeper substrate to warm the water up ..... there will be alot of issues in a few weeks months in this set up! also the leeching of the plastic with the heater will cause a plastic weird smell! this set up is really complicated and will cause so many issues for the breeder! small glass containers are better than plastic overall! most likely the fish will start to get sick in due time and cause random deaths! .... the best thing to do is buy 20 baby fry and breed them yourself they will last so many months longer than shop purchased guppies! 2/3 weeks is the maximum age you should be buying guppies and they will be more bulletproof in the future! i study guppies and have loads of useful tips and info !
If you start from a bunch of baby fry, can you breed brothers and sisters with each other with no ill effects? Honest question, I don’t know the answer.
@@AdamSmith-yc8iz hi yes aslong as like 4 months down the line you add new males and females this will keep them pretty much strong genes .... maybe the odd few over the year that will have some problems with bent spines but 95% will be sweet
Any ideas on grow out tanks after the fry stages? Im debating fewer larger tanks and putting all same species and close ages in thos or bunch of med tanks to seperate. Im trying to produce 300 fry a week between all colors of each species and avg 2 months til sell so so high estimate of 2400 fish holding tanks
How awesome you are doing a special video of my VERY favorite fish. Mom had them as I was growing up and that sparked my love affair. Over the years I have had many guppies, and for a while, I thought about breeding and selling them. Happy Thanksgiving from Nebraska.
Hi Chris, I’m from Australia! Guppy’s are my favourite fish but i Currently only have bettas. I absolutely love you and your channel. You’ve taught me so much and you’re an amazing person. Your rescuing betta videos are amazing!! Keep it up!
When I bought a male two weeks ago, he had a light yellow body and a light yellow tail. Now his tail is turning a deeper shade of yellow, and the small black spot he had behind his head now covers 1/4 of the body. At what age does a male reach its definitive color? And does the temperature affect the color? The first few days I thought the water was 23 degrees, because that's how I had set the heating. But I saw from the thermometer that it was only 19 degrees! Oh dear! I increased the temperature. Now they swim around a lot happier. But did the higher temperature also have an effect on the color?
I used to breed African cichlids i had one who for some reason wouldn't open her mouth to let the babies out! So to save them I'd have to use a toothpick to gently open her chops so they could escape lol
I have a 40g guppy tank that’s heavily planted I basically have a new batch of babies every other day 😂 I just started a shrimp hatchery so I can start growing the babies up faster and hopefully start selling them to the local fish stores
I'm currently in Oregon From Southern California but planning to move to New Mexico to open a non-profit organization to help disenfranchised in rural areas ❤
And in honour of the amount of total family members I have including my husband, children including our deceased son, soon to be 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild..21 babies.. now if these comments aren't generating revenue I don't know what it.that and i still don't know where to send Brenten his shirts and apron

Food affects color temperature not so much temp does affect whether you get more males or females
