I love seeing all the different kinds of setups people use to breed guppies. There definitely isn’t just one formula that works.

I posit that guppies are the bunnies of the fish world! I started with four, years ago, and even without separating the fry, I ended up with at least a dozen after a few months.

Also how do you suck up everything off the bottom and not suck up the guppy fry? Will they move? I’ve been tying filter media over the end of the hose and checking the bucket carefully but then it doesn’t pickup all the detritus.

Hey sorry about 2 comments but I WAS NOT going to edit my measly little guess. LOL. Hey Chris I believe what you're calling "red root floaters" is actually sylvinia. There are no red roots and those roots are short. By this time the reds would be down to the very bottom of the tank. Oh and the roots would be red not white. At least the ones I've had have been like that. Not sure about Texas???

I have never seen “red root floaters” like that before. I am fairly sure that is not what you think it is.

🤫 I know exactly what they are. Hence why I use a generic term “red root floater” as they float, and with the proper light their roots turn red, but in fact ARE NOT red root floaters.
