You’re the reason why I started my shrimp tank recently and you’re also the reason why I didn’t freak out my first week when a couple shrimp died. THANK YOU!!!

Interseting video and beautiful shrimps 👍👍
Those blue diamonds are stunning mate. Cant wait to see how this project goes 👍🏻
👍🏻
Looking good. Really helps when "seeding" the tank. Obviously just monitor the parameters whilst the colony establishes
👍🏻
Looks great Richard 😁👍👍
BTW I'm really looking forward to your book, all the best with it 👍👍
Thank you. Book is coming along nicely, however it is by far the biggest thing I have ever written 😳
Nice
Hi Richard. This is your Aussie stalker, Nicki from Young. Loved this video. The tank was clear after you added the Fluval. Had you previously rinsed it before you added it? Thanks for the videos.
Love your vids, would love to see one about plant melting and how to prevent it.
Thanks for the feedback. Leave that video suggestion with me 👍🏻
Great video Richard, how do you manage to maintain the KH with the stratum soil? Everything in my setup seems to hit the mark on water parameters other than the KH always staying low. Thanks!
Im starting a small shrimp tank using this as my inspiration
Got a wee shopping list in the go
Where would i find a feeding tray
Once again your videos keep it simple
Best on you tube by far

I'm thinking of trying again
All I really want it two red two blue
Where's the best place to buy older shrimp not fry ???
Best channel on you tube

Beauty of an aquarium!
Low airflow trough filter, is this intentional?
How do you feel about water movement in your tanks? I think i got quite a lot, is there a “to much flow”?
Hi. I suppose technically the answer is yes, you could have too much flow, but most of us would never reach that level. I just like enough flow to keep water circulating though out the aquarium. I never really have the air bubbling that fast in shrimp only tanks. 👍🏻
Hi, I really enjoy your informative videos, thank you for making them. Please could you tell me what brand of tank you use, there are so many out there! Thanks in advance. 😊
Hi. Thanks for your kind feedback. The 12” cubes you see in this video are sold by All Pond Solutions. I get them from Amazon rather than direct as it’s free delivery on Amazon 💪🏻
The straugyne repens, google says it requires med-high lighting, do you find this to be true?
I wouldn’t describe myself as a high end aquascaper, but for what it is worth, every plant I grow is using cheap, LED site lights 🤷🏻♂️
Hi richard! To clear my doubts. Super blue shrimps and blue diamond shrimps. Are they from the same variants?
you mention in your videos repashy! there is a few which one is best for my shrimp?
In my experience, they are all much of a muchness 👍🏻
I noticed you just poured in the stratum. You typically don't rise it? Or
And the name of the sponge filter?
Looks like the shrimp will enjoy that tank!
Hi. I never bother to rinse stratum. The manufacturer recommends only giving the product a light rinse due to it’s fragile nature, but I have never found that necessary. Also, the sponge filter is just a generic one from eBay. It only sets me back about £7 ($10 ish).
@FishKeepingAnswers thanks! I'm setting up a "nano" tank for shrimp. Will try skipping the rinse this time and see how it goes 🤔
Would love to hear how it goes 👍🏻
I'm new to aquariums as a whole and wanted to start with Cherry shrimp(red neo caridina ones),I was wondering can I use a cube shaped 25 gallon tank?
Yep! 👍🏻
@@FishKeepingAnswers 😭😭😭 nvm ill be getting a Betta 😭😭 shrimps not allowed in the household lmao
Thinking about starting to breed shrimp for a profit, how much would you recommend for start up and would you suggest breeding snails along side the shrimp in the same tank, along with a crop to maximise profit. As I am wanting to start with 1 tank/tub and increase it as I go
Hi. Starting with a single tank or tub is a great place to start. Just bear in mind, if you start with a colony of say 20 shrimp, it will probably be 4 to 6 months before you can start selling.
Adding snails is a great idea. Ramshorn Snails and Trumpet Snails always sell well. Java Moss is another really good additional crop, although don’t do moss and snails as many people will be cross if you sell them moss full of snails 👍🏻
@@FishKeepingAnswers I really appreciate you getting back to me! If I wasn’t to add snails, because of them infesting java moss, is there any other crop I could add instead of the snails, I want the tank bare as possible so when it comes to catching them I ain’t got spend ages tryna get some from behind a rock or something, I know in some of your other videos you suggested stem plants. What would you recommend to have with shrimp and java moss. As I’d like to maximise the profit from one tank to expend it over the future. Understandable I’ve gotta wait for a couple months before I start selling but in that time. Crops like java moss will have plenty of time to grow.
Would love to see a video of you, maximising profits from a 10 gallon tank/tub. Still got a lot of your videos to watch before I start to set up as I like to know as much as possible before jumping in.
Again loving the content only fish/shrimp guy I’ve subbed to :)
Hello, does adding bogwood to a shrimp tank setup have any benefits or is it just for decorative purposes
Whilst the wood is a great place for algae and biofilm to develop, it really is only for decorative purposes in a shrimp tank. 🦐
Where did you bought them look great
EBay 👍🏻
I have a 5 gallon shrimp tank, with a lot of plants, and I wanted to know if do I need an air pump in my shrimp tank?
Thanks!
In my opinion, yes. An air pump provides water circulation and surface agitation, allowing for a proper exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide at the surface 👍🏻
Thanks! I'll take your advice AND go for an air pump! 😁🦐
Hi Richard! To clear my doubts. Does super blue shrimp and blue diamond shrimp. Are they from the same variant? Thanks in advance
Hi. The problem with shrimp is, any seller can call them anything they like. I could sell them as Super Deep Blue Ocean Shrimp, and no can stop me or say they are something different. It’s really hard to know what strain an individual shrimp is 🤔
Hey! Honestly the simplest scapes are the best ones. Just a question about the fluval stratum, since it is made to lower ph, won't it result in the ph ending up in the lower end of the acceptable range for neocaradina shrimp? That's the issue I'm facing currently so I was wondering how you handled that.
So, here’s the thing. If you notice, on a bag of Fluval Stratum it says ‘Promotes neutral to slightly acidic pH’. But it doesn’t say ‘lowers your pH’. In my opinion, the internet has decided Stratum lowers the pH. In experience, it doesn’t. 🤷🏻♂️
Which would you recommend for neocaridina shrimp - Fluval Stratum or Seachem Flourite substrate?
I use both. Stratum is easier to plant into, but sometimes you have to spend the first few weeks replanting your plants as they float out of the stratum 😕
Hai Richard...Im from southern most part of India and my aquarium temp is arnd 28 to 30C...I have a planted aquarium gng smoothly and some random aquariums with angels and so on...I hav been watching ur videos recently and really wnt to keep shrimps.. I have been trying to keep Shrimp for past 1 month with zero success.
First of all i have only access to tap water ..For experimenting purpose, i started wit 2 Ltr tub and addedd Java moss and Xmas moss attached to coconut shell. Cycled it for 3 weeks. Measured te PH which is arnd 6.5, gh 200 to 225 ppm and KH 175 ppm....TDS is arnd 120.
Everytime i add shrimps (Neocardinas only), they live for only 2 or 3 days max. Tried to keep Red cherry, yellow and bloody mary. I have seen molting everytime i add new ones. Te issue is all my local aquariums have access to Well water and mine is tap. I have ordered a Shrimp remineralizer as a last resort from Amazon which i might get by 2mmrw. Now from ur experience cud u throw some light over this please. Else i have to give it up totally on shrimps.
Hi. First off, don’t give up. Both your GH and KH are fairly high, but not off the charts. Could you have/purchase some well water from the people you buy the shrimp from? Also, 2 liters is a fairly small water volume. Although not impossible, a water volume that small is subject to fairly rapid fluctuations. I would suggest try and find a slightly larger container/aquarium and keep trying. You will work it out. 🤞🏻
@@FishKeepingAnswers Thnkx Richard for replying. As u mentioned, i will keep trying and may be upgrade to a proper aquarium for keeping Shrimps. Thnx for providing educational videos on Shrimps. Keep posting.
🫶🏻
Sounds more like caridinia water parameters 😓
@@deltoid4 I don't think so.. My GH nd KH is higher for even Neo's... As far as I knw, Caridina requires much lower GH nd KH.. My TDS levl might be optimal ... But other parameters are way too high for Caridinas..
Hi did you purchase your blue diamond shrimp on line there a lovely blue
I ordered them from an eBay seller 👍🏻
I want to start breeding shrimp. I am looking for your course. I have planned to start selling shrimp from January 2024. I have a tank going with some fish not shrimp to make it shrimp ready. I really need your guidance to achieve my goal to start selling shrimp by January.
Hi. Sadly I never found time to make the shrimp breeding course. Have you watched parts 1 & 2 of the Breeding shrimp for profit videos?
How long did you end up waiting before adding the new shrimp?
About 2 hours 🤷🏻♂️
@@FishKeepingAnswers thanks! i’ve got to give stratum a try!
Do it! Plants and shrimp love it 😍
Hi, can you suggest a good place to buy shrimp from in the u.k…
❤️🦐
Recently I have been ordering from sellers on eBay
Thanks for the fast response… love the channel 🥰
What’s your water hardness? Down where I stay it’s so soft that all the shrimps are dying 🤷♂️
It’s a pH of about 7.6. We have a high GH (lots of calcium deposits on the glass)
@@FishKeepingAnswers ahhh shiitzz, my pH from tap is around 5.8~6.1, GH is non existent, there’s no minerals- I mean not enough to keep shrimps alive … is there any alternative to top up minerals to keep them thriving ?
Do you have access to crushed coral?
@@FishKeepingAnswers yes
Where can I buy your shrimp ?
Also do you ship to the US?
Unfortunately we don’t breed to sell anymore.
Mas isso dai é blue dream e nao Diamond ué? Povo confundindo geral se ver as comparações ambos naontem diferença se sao tons de azul
I feel like i over complicate things
You’re not alone. It seems many people do 😕
man there's no point of any of this if he doesn't even show us how to sell those dang shrimp
😞
Δεν είναι blue diamond αυτές φίλε ...blue dream είναι !
