While the loss in HP sucks, the power range is improved and wow, they saved a TON of weight, plus wait until you chuck that heavy cat/stock exhaust. The complete redesign was worth it, it allows them to reset on the cc and give them a decade of headway to increase it and go up in power.
I love what they have done in terms of weight savings. Hopefully power climbs back up with maybe an R version which brings back Desmo. 899 owner since 2016, if an R version matches 899 power, might just get me to pull the trigger on it. Power aside I am liking everything else they have shown about the bike. Lowering the clip ons should be an easy 20-30 minute job, rearsets I will have to buy another set.
@electric_boogaloo496 I bought an 899 new myself and to me, that's still a MUCH sexier bike. I hated the added fuss of the 959 and the Bayliss Ed. was the only V2 I liked. But yeah, I wouldn't consider this at all unless it was n a super S spec or a R, but that may take several years as the R versions of their mid-range are usually swam songs in the final year or two of the model.

Have to correct Fagan at the beginning. The Panigale 899 and 959 all had standard dual sided swing arms. The only middleweight sport bikes from Ducati that retained the single sided swing arm are the 748, 848, and V2.
@ only the recent iteration of it, all the predecessors that merged to be the SuperSport had dual sided swing arms. The ST line and the SS line in the 90’s and early 2000’s did not have the single sided swing arm. But since the V2 is the baby brother to the Panigale V4, I compared it to the previous little brethren of prior Ducati superbikes.
You won, because this new V2 they want to paint as better, but it's not. Everything that is a downside they painted it as an upside. It's down by a LOT of horsepower, and it's not even a Desmo engine anymore, which is good for maintenance intervals, but not for the Ducatiness that distinguishes those engines.
Imagine this, v2 is the new successor to the supersport and the new supersport has a v4 being a road biased sports bike with 160+ bhp. That would be magic.
I think I like this more than the v4 and I would purchase this because it’s not too much for daily or weekend usage and personally I love the dual exhaust
Just looking at the Ducati website and comparing this new V2S, the previous V2, and the SuperSport and this looks like it's made to replace the old SuperSport and V2. The New S is $200 more then the outgoing V2 and about $1000 more then the SuperSport S and has 10HP more then the SuperSport S. With this bike supposedly more "comfortable" it does seem like this is a new middle ground between those two "old" models.
IMHO, with the weight savings, its a great platform to get the R treatment. Desmo, 150hp, sportier posture. Still have my 899 that Baron Von Grumble video sold me on. If there was an R version that matches the old 899 in power, I will consider an upgrade. I like the way this one looks, undertail exhaust I love, was never against DSA on my 899, this DSA just looks better.
The change will definitely be because of wssp regs That’s why it’s tuned to produce most of its power in the lower rev ranges rather than up at the top.
Well the superquadro is peaky rev box so not really an ideal street engine. This 120hp engine makes more power than the old v2 up to 7,500rpm so will feel better on the road. It probably wasn’t worth working on it to get it to euro 5+
The torque curve falls off sharply after 8300 rpm. It will be interesting how much of that is electronics, heads, valves and/ or camshafts. I'm sure the aftermarket will find a way to wake it up. Love the weight loss. Imagine it with a set of BST's! 😲
This makes total sense IMO. - Adds to a newly emerging proper Super sport racing category. - 90% of amateur track riders will be just as fast on this as the old v2. - cheaper. - the old v2 and Supersport were too close together in terms of use / purpose. Things brings them together in a happy medium and enables Ducati to invest into this new engine across the entire range. - the photos of the press bike with termi exhausts look absolutely 🔥🔥 Now what would be interesting is if they bring out a proper sports tourer similar to the old ST3 / ST4.
We'll have to see when it comes out but I'm interested. Seems like a response to the growing 120hp sportsbike market. I can forgive it being down on power since it's cheaper. From the pictures the bars are higher than the yoke so more relaxed.
I agree with Stratham that it looks a little pedestrian but still good. Panigale Supersport is indeed what it should be called and it's way too expensive.
Kerb weight is usually defined with 90% fuel in the tank. At least in the rest of Europe.. not sure about UK. Another thing to keep in mind: the density of fuel is around 0.75 kg/L
I like the concept of this new bike and it's something I would now consider as it seems more approachable with added road bias, however, with the killer Panigale looks.
I think the old bike looks better, both for the V2 and V4. Not sure if others agree or not? But I loved the gaping holes in the front. I also preferred the old V2's simpler tank design without all the new fussy lines and shapes. The tail light and rear seat cowl is also nicer on the older bike. I actually don't think the old swing arm was nice. Its nice that it was single sided, but, it wasn't particularly a nice design.
I think it is 90%, not 80. But I agree: a fixed amount of liters would make more sense, otherwise manufacturers are incentivised to build bikes with extra small tanks to keep the kerb weight on paper low (as BMW did with the new F900GS). On the other hand: what if the tank on a really small fun bike is smaller than the fix min. amount?

The Supersport is a re-clothed Monster...at a higher cost $...so discerning clients chose to skip it. Ducati has learned its lesson. None of the reviews pointed out the increased ground clearance (atleast 150mm visually) when compared to 120mm GC if the previous v2.
it make sense really it share components with the monster and hypermotard making running cost and repair cheap that means tracking it will be easier on the wallet being lighter means it can now fight with bike like r6 r9 zx6 and cbr600rr the v2 has always found itself as in betweener not a full flight superbike but to playing with supersports with this new v2 its a great entry pathway for newer ducati track riders.
I feel like the prior models were still basically the V2 Superbike from before the V4 debuted, and that sent a subtle message that maybe Ducati weren't fully committed to the V4 Superbike... like, they were keeping the V2 around just in case the V4 didn't work out. And maybe they were doing that initially, but at this point it's clear the Panigale V4 is a rousing success, so now it makes sense for the V2 to move more towards the Supersport.
The problem with the final edition is that they took the cc out of the names years ago. They did the panigale 1299 FE and sold the v4 next to it, that is basically the same idea here

Looks much better than the V4. Just wondering if the next one will come with the Scrambler engine 😂
What happened to the KTM video. Has KTM got something to hide about the quality of their cams which eat themselves….. 😂
I was like, that doesnt look to bad. And then you showed that picture of the v2 finale edition and wow, ill take the old v2 in red. Haha
The Supersport is a re-clothed Monster...at a higher cost $...so discerning clients chose to skip it. Ducati has learned its lesson. None of the reviews pointed out the increased ground clearance (atleast 150mm visually) when compared to 120mm GC if the previous v2.
What happens to Supersport 950 and Monster now? The new ones are almost similar in power to those models....
Nice to still see a vtwin sports bike engine still being made in 2024/2025
it make sense really it share components with the monster and hypermotard making running cost and repair cheap that means tracking it will be easier on the wallet being lighter means it can now fight with bike like r6 r9 zx6 and cbr600rr the v2 has always found itself as in betweener not a full flight superbike but to playing with supersports with this new v2 its a great entry pathway for newer ducati track riders.
Does this engine have a timing belt or timing chain?
The problem with the final edition is that they took the cc out of the names years ago. They did the panigale 1299 FE and sold the v4 next to it, that is basically the same idea here
Curb weight needs to be with a 90% full tank of fuel. So if it declares a 15litre tank, it will be weighted with 13.5litres in the fuel tank and all other liquids to spec
The instagram part got me 🤣 Ciao ragazzi!
Interesting that the exhaust end-cans appear to not have brackets. Which may be the reason for the strange looking exhaust (to support the cans).
What's the logic with raising the exhausts to nearly an under-seat jobby? Doesn't that raise centre of gravity and slow handling?
You’re making the assumption it has a big effect on handling. Usually pipes are pretty light to begin with
So a head to head of the new gen supersport please?
You should use "Crispy Lettuce" for your next mic check. That aside love the videos, a damn good show.
Any chance you could share thoughts on Suzuki DR-Z4S which looks like a new UK opportunity for those of us who pretend to like mud.
So the Streetfighter v2 in standard trim will be the same price as a Street Triple RS?
That gap between the pipes and the tail is - unresolved
Love Sue Perkin’s new beard ❤
What an absolute disastrous looking ducati
Is it a parallel twin does it have a 400 cc engine
No & no 🙄
I'm amazed more people aren't talking about how absolutely underwhelming and generic this design is.
I like it but the hp is so low compared to the previous model. I wonder what a good tune can get out of it?
