    ABOUT THAT ENGINE: As an owner of a Supersport S, V2 Street fighter, and someone who's raced many V4's and rode them, I can only share my experience. The Supersport S with the full Akra (which had 70 percent torque available at 3000rpm) was faster than the V2 and kept up with the VR completely until 70mph. One could only know this from having owned all of them. Honestly, having that much Torque available made the Supersport S my favorite bike of all the Ducati's I've ever rode. I think what Ducati did is genious, and I understand the skeptisim of losing HP, but you all will see how amazing this engine and bike will be. The Supersport S needed to be a little more sporty for the ergonomics, and the Panigale V2 was still a little uncomfortable for all day street riding. I think this bike will be a massive hit, if power is your concern, throw on a full exhaust. Out of having both and riding many V4's, the Supersport S engine with the full akra was the fastest on the road (up to 70mph), people would be blown away when I'd race them (allegedly). Hope that helps!

    • @ssmith954
      @ssmith954 3 дня назад

      Completely agree. A lot of the focus will be on -24% hp compared to the previous V2, but the loss in terms of power/weight ratio is -14%. But the torque curve is everything, and a huge improvement on the previous V2, and the weight loss will also probably make it feel much easier in the curves. Also completely agree on riding comfort. The SS was very nice for all day riding, but annoyingly lacked cruise control. The previous V2 was not at all comfortable.
      I think what annoys people most is that this is perhaps more of a Supersport+ than a Panigale. Fair enough, but to me this looks like a perfect sports bike for the road (I don't ride track) and the branding doesn't bother me. Really looking forward to the real world tests of the bike, and seeing how the new engine shapes up. The Testastretta proved to be an extremely versatile and highly reliable engine, and hoping this one is the same. An added bonus will be longer service intervals with the new motor.

    I cant blame ducati fans for feeling rather gutted about the changes, but I personally REALLY dig the new v2. I think it looks even better than the previous model, and a 120 HP machine that is pushing sub 400 lbs is right up my alley.
    As a Ducati I can see their fanbase getting uppity, but as a sportbike I absolutely love it so far

    Love your content; intelligent yet entertaining at the same time. To me, this new V2(S), as you said first off has the best tech on the market; however, older V2 vs new V2, yes everyone upset with HP drop but for me when the Ducati's sport bike test rider does the same lap time on track with old V2 vs this new V2 it not only harkens back to it is the rider not so much the bike but even more how much better this bike is to even do that. Let's be honest, 95% of us track riders (even me and I am advanced class) never can use all that hp. I'm putting a deposit just b/c I know I'll get even better with this bike with all her characteristics. Excited!

      This new V2 is a little too racy to replace the SuperSport model, IMO as a SuperSport owner these last few years. What I wanted is cruise control and better integration of saddlebags, like on the Multis, which have the mounting points designed-in, not a steel cage subframe bolted on. But seeing as how the SuperSport was not a big seller for Ducati, maybe this new V2 will be more to the public's liking.

    Dont over complicate it, the answer is simple. What are bikes more used for, track or street riding? Street! So having 2 race bikes doesn’t make sense. They had 2 race bikes and 1 streetbike. Now they have one street bike (new v2), and one racebike (v4). Commercially it makes sense.

As one ages the body places limits on the person. This is a true Ducati, one that has been sorely lacking. As much as i hate to see these new FIM regulations and emissions completely change the supersport class for the championship, I am really looking forward to it. You are right about Ducati never making compromises, which is also why Ducati came into the game in WSSP in 2020, and starting completely demolishing the R6 that had been winning for 6 years straight. Stefano Manzi had been pushing the R6 to its limit but there's only so much he could squeeze out of those 120hp against the 150hp monsters. I feel like now it's going to be a fair fight.

    People who only focus on spec sheets and peak HP numbers, don't get it. It's not about what power you have, it's about what you can use. and a bike is the sum of ALL of its parts.
    My car makes 500hp and is RWD. Line me up on the street against an 807hp Dodge Demon, and I will spank it every time. My car is mid engine and weighs 700lbs less... All that power in the Dodge is pointless as it just sits there spinning its tires when the light turns green, while I launch like getting shot out of a cannon. Doesn't matter than I make 300hp LESS. I also weigh a lot less and I have vastly superior traction...
    This new Panigale and SF is gonna be brilliant. And, they dropped the price by offering a base model and an S model. The R9 is gonna be brilliant, as will the new KTM offering.

The new V2 sounds more like a the next gen of the SuperSport, which is fine. Personally, I'd rather Ducati drop the Panigale V2 line and call this one the new SuperSport, instead of what we got. On the bright side, it makes the path to buying a V4 clearer.

      It's a double-edged sword for Ducati as they simplify their bikes by deleting a lot of the expected content (trellis frame, desmo, belt-drive cams, single-sided swingarms). Yes, the bikes are lighter, which I applaud, but are they still Ducatis?

    As someone that has worked in marketing and development for 13 years for a European car manufacturer, this move by Ducati is a well known one.
    Ducati knows as long as their V2 looks great…they will sell, even with 50% less performance. It’s been proven time and time again, as long as a car/bike LOOKS great, consumers will drive up demand. Manufacturers know a majority of their buyers are not serious racers. Ducati is saying sales>performance.

    You missed the entire reason for the new V2: weight reduction
    They created a WAYYYYY easier motorcycle to ride by making one of the lightest motorcycles in this category while still maintaining sufficient Hp.
    They dumped the old design because the new offerings by competitors made the old V2 a "also ran." By getting rid of a huge amount of weight they once again can say they created something that was designed to be the most rider friendly in its class.

All it took on the '99 model to fix the riding position were some raised handlebars. The current SuperSport has clip-ons above the top triple clamp taller than those on this new V2 and matching saddlebags, but you have to install a large, removable steel bracket to mount the bags versus the more integrated mounts used on the Multis.
      Depends on where you're coming from. If you go on longer trips you need some way to carry things and saddlebags make a lot of sense. If your riding is mostly local the new V2 appears to be a more comfortable and affordable Panigale, as you said.

    Given the low output it has shifted into a lower class of bikes as you said like the R9 but pricing is still a big bike pricing given here is Australia the s1000RR , GSX-R1000 are the same price as this new V2S and R9 is $4K cheaper

    • @rlsedition
      @rlsedition 18 дней назад

      That's part of the problem with this new bike - it's cheaper to manufacture, but no less expensive to buy.

    Ducatistas can finally have a somewhat more comfortable panigale for the ducati group rides and bike meet rides they only do I guess... j/k. I'll still probably end up getting the R9 because but the Panigale V2 or KTMRC990R are both also making strong cases to be the sportbike I want in my garage, but the problem is they're also both new motors with no proven reliability/maintenance record I don't think I want to risk buying. Maybe further down the road i'll pick up one used if it's proven reliable.

    It's crazy how people are saying this bike will be awesome, while absolutely bashing the R9. Pretty much same numbers in power while being much cheaper.. I guess people just like to pay higher prices for things they could get cheaper.

    Adobo have you ever had the chance to try an MV F3 800? Always been curious how it compared to a V2 and 750 from a street rider perspective.

      I can tell you one thing after owning an original F3 600 - you'd love the intake sound as it rips over 10k RPMs.

    what was the realistic market for the old v2? why would people not just buy the v4 instead. This looks to be an option for more people.
    What I am really looking forward to is them carrying this engine to the desertX. (and even multi v2) that should be a pretty clear update over the existing testastreta engine

    • @rlsedition
      @rlsedition 18 дней назад

      People would buy the new V2 to save some $13,000 versus the base V4 Pani.

    The people who have to buy the "fastest ever" are gonna buy the V4 anyway. I think this bike is targeted at the R9/RS660 market segment. I'm really curious to ride this one.

      Also I don't know how the A2 V2 is supposed to work. The A2 limitation says that the unrestricted bike can only have 95hp, so will this be a 95hp V2?? Which one then restricts to 0.2kW/kg, depending on the weight max 48hp???

    You can’t sell a bike that isn’t in a competitive field no more, great business decision by Ducati since there is more competition from cheap china bikes taking sales. I think its important to understand business sustainability in this new age era.

    I FREAKED OUT at the dealership when the V2 that was there disappeared, knowing this bike was coming. Thankfully, they were able to order one in, and the bike that came is still somehow a 2025, but last year's version. I think the new model is beautiful now that it's here, but it's not the same bike. Torque curve and all that... but that's what I love about Ducati's old two cylinder engines... they're fine, and then they're suddenly not fine and you've hit the rev limiter. There's so much character to that, for me, anyway.
