Lovely to see the old home town. I'm a Watford and then Kings Langley lad and have walked these towpaths for years especially Cassiobury. Tomorrow you go past Fanny Craddocks - as you come out of the Grove Estate which I remember as London Transports training centre there is a lovely weir and garden which is where she and Johnny used to live. There's a lovely lock and bridge in Cassiobury that my mum used to take me down to to see the barges. Keep up the good work! Fun to see
Looks like it was a nice day there too. Here in New England I was out in shorts and flip-flops (and a jacket) cleaning up the backyard today in prep for the 8" of snow we're expecting this weekend.
Yes, I agree, I know he’s a busy chap etc, but given his attention to detail to his work on the boat, it was a bit of a shock/disappointment really. No offence meant.
I mentioned that idea of a bike a couple of weeks back. Great Christmas gift idea though… maybe someone has already voiced their intention of calling upon 🎅 Cheers Sark …out there on the Kent shores.
Morning young James hope you’re well 😀 Finish work at 05.30 had a little sleep 😴 then up in my truck with a brew and advent calendar episode 17 to start my day lol 😆 On the inside of the M25 and no ELZ /CC hehe 😉 Nice seeing you cruising on the cut with some local commentary 👍🏻 I’m stuck in my lorry this weekend in Salisbury so it’s a little like Narrow boating as it’s also a confined space 😁 I’m looking forward to seeing tonight’s episode in my lorry. Take care as always cheers Stevie 😎
Hay did anyone else see the trees that looked like King Kong fighting right around timeslot 13:40 after the bridge? Or is it just me lol awesome video James.
Brilliant! Enjoyed this vlog very much. I can see why you like bridge 164 so much, to the grove, pretty. However, I like those up and over bridges like 163, because of the genius solution they represent. Cheers James.
There's definitely a story about the two houses on the canal at 10 minutes in - One with a whole bunch of narrowboats on it looking kind of shabby, with a bunch of stuff piled up and a pirate flag and right next to it the most perfectly manicured lawn I think I've ever seen. With a big tall hedge between them, and a piece of wooden fence going all the way out into the water. James's lust for that dock was palpable. Also, am I the only one who can't hear the word Rickmansworth without immediately thinking of Trillion from the _Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy_ series? "One Thursday, nearly two thousand years after one man had been nailed to a tree for saying how great it would be to be nice to people for a change, a girl sitting on her own in a small café in Rickmansworth suddenly realized what it was that had been going wrong all this time, and she finally knew how the world could be made a good and happy place. This time it was right, it would work, and no one would have to get nailed to anything. Sadly, however, before she could get to a phone to tell anyone about it, the Earth was unexpectedly demolished to make way for a new hyperspace bypass, and so the idea was lost, seemingly for ever." Happy Christmas!
Still have that wacky super-length rudder handle I see James--maybe add replacing it to your DIY list for the Advent calendar--or have you decided you like it that way?
12 and a half minutes into the video you mentioned the lowest bridge you passed, nearly catching you phone on the tripod. How much space would you say was there under that bridge? Try to figure out if a barge type ship would fit through there.... Cheers
Love your videos and really entertaining. I M sure you have many families look at yours too. Can I ask ever so nicely not to show you smoking or any kind of smoking paraphernalia as it not a great look and children could think wrong things about you and think it’s a good idea. Ray keep up the good work and videos
Beautiful episode!
But I never told you how proud I am of all your hard work inside the boat. It’s looking fabulous!

Just a lovely remote cruise for me in Australia! James you make it so relaxing!
It’s good to see you back on the canal. I was surprised to see that beautiful clear blue sky and the sunshine when the video started. Beautiful. 😀
You need a folding pushbike, James. Or the number of a reliable taxi company.
All the best, mate.

@@presspound7358 Salut, Jacques!
4:40 I think I've spent a few hours (possibly days) sitting on top of that motorway bridge, like you. How nice to be speeding along as you were today!
I worked on the grove when they converted the old mansion and built the hotel back in 2002, to this day its the biggest site ive ever worked on,
Love the new doors❤️

Thanks James, amazing you are so close to London, but in such a rural spot. Take care.

Hi James can you show us the bridge Lit up at night?
Good one James 👍
Can you do a little 5 min bit about finding car parking, and how you get along on how far or near you find a spot.
Hiya if u look for Taylor's aboard they have covered that quite well :)

Nice tour, for new bridges, do they still ask the land owner for an OK? Just wondering out loud, so thought I'd ask.
