Howdy James and it is not good with a sore back. Great time with the Kids again and the working of the swing bridge and locks. Have fun and enjoy. Keith.
Saw the keys as you walked away ..... 😱 then sure you'd go back and pick them up.... !! I think the guy at the pub deserved a few pints ! Chance for a return trip I think 😁🍻
Another lovely cruise, thanks James, amazed just how rural the area you passed through looks, love the Robin, and to get the keys and the car. Hope the back is on then mend. Take care.
Glad to see you got your keys! Kudos to the Barman! I hope your back heals up soon - I definitely know the feeling of a bad back - and the extra tonnage that I'm hauling around just makes it worse! And a Rookie error? We ALL make those occasionally. My Dad always used to tell me that the ONLY people who don't screw up occasionally are the people who never do anything!
Hi James, thanks for the cruising vid. As a matter of accuracy, the hanging at Boxmore Common was of the last highway man to be hung in 1802. The last hangings were on August the 13th, 1964 at Liverpool's Walton prison and Manchester Strangeways prison of Gwynne Evans and Peter Allen. I knew the chaplain who attended the last moments of the man at Strangeways.
I was shouting at the screen. James, KEYS!!! Who's a lucky boy? All the best, mate. Hope you get the back sorted soon. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt.
Nicely done. Sorry about your back, hope it’s sorted soon, as you can really see it when going through the lock. While Thanksgiving is a rather uniquely (originally) US holiday, I wish everyone, happiness and thanks to you James for sharing this journey with us.
Hi James, brilliant vlog as usual, you are not the first person to leave your keys some where and you definitely won't be the last, we have all done it at sometime, I know what it is like to have a bad back I have had one since 1983, learned to live with it, hope yours is better soon. So keep cruising on.
Bad backs are buggers! They come in many forms and it always amazes me that you can do some things without trouble but struggle with other activity. So glad you got is sorted! Lovely vlog even though it started on a less than aromatic note - Thanks James! As for the keys.... I'd have bought you mate and had pint in the pub!
Beautiful autumnal sunshine, and it was a treat to see that little robin--funny story about the keys, must have been a slow day on the bridge. Sorry about your back, James. Hope it's better.
Another great vlog from a fellow “tin canner” James. The second that you said that you hadn’t put a new bag in the loo I knew where it was going lol. As for the back pain, I have lower back pain from time to time and have learnt a few exercises from Bob and Brad here on RUclips that can help sort things out 👍🏻
Hi James, Really pleased you got your keys back. Great cruise. Seeing the state of some of the lock ladders, what a great idea to pull the boat thru the lock, saves climbing up and down ladders, especially when the boat moving away from one (in the lock). On the deepest locks can you still pull your boat thru easily enough? Enjoyed the Vlog. Thank you. Take Care.
I've got one of those beanie hats with the light on the front as well. If you pull it down over your eyes it makes you look like one of the minions with one eye 👁😄
Captain Jamer, Nice sunny day. Kids seem to be enjoying themselves and that’s always nice. Was wondering if you couldn’t cycle to and fro when it comes to displacing your car. Would beat walking in some instances. (Of course there would have to be a mud guard given tow path conditions) . As winter sets in …will you be able to start a fire in the stove before ending a day’s journey…unless you decide to get into a marina for 90 days or so. Cheers 🥂
Hi, So Arthur did a Robert Plant, should have got your Dad to play the song by him. I do agree with you about the Locks, I prefer to do them on my own at my pace, I was so lucky that firbob is not at the bottom of the lock. Hope your back gets better. Keep up the good work.
glad your back is on the mend. regardless, tho, you must walk a mile so every set of your keys/key ring near the cut must have a float attached, even if you must divide your keys up to float. don't rationalize from protecting all your keys! key ring floats range in price--get the as durable and visible as you ca, ant test in a sink before use. use a good carabiner with your belt, etc. ebay has some of there items, but you might do better on/along the cut, etc.
James you must stop leaving your windlass lying around quickest way to lose it you should keep it on your person when mot in use. Tuck it in the back of your belt or over your shoulder as us old trade boaters of the 1960s used to do. Love your videos keep them coming and good luck.
I saw you walk away from the bridge and filming the box with the keys in and that woman could have told you that you had left the keys, anyway you have got them back now 😀
lay on your back and bring heals you butt with hand above your head, lay for fifteen min. till lower back relaxes too floor .......turn on your side stand up walk around for ten min.s repeat .......feel your pain .......works for me ........S
Building a small bridge seems more reliable and about the same price as building that electro mechanical contraption including its constant maintenance!
Why not modify a 3 speed cordless drill for opening & closing the paddles on the lock gates, it’d spare your back at least. Many have adjustable clutches, that would ensure that you wouldn’t be applying to much-torque to the paddles.
You just pulled your entire life through a swing bridge using just a piece of rope & it took you only 5 minutes. There has to be a metaphor there somewhere.

Liking the new way of narrative while you were doing the lock.👍
That was a lovely cruise thank you James. So glad your keys were safe and to know your back has improved. Take care.
Saw the keys as you walked away ..... 😱 then sure you'd go back and pick them up.... !! I think the guy at the pub deserved a few pints ! Chance for a return trip I think 😁🍻
Oh yeah that’s a great idea for a return
Good video, and I'm pleased about the keys, but tragic walking out of the pub without having a pint😀

It’s all much better now thanks pal

Glad you got your keys back fella. 👍🏼
I tuned to see if Rob took another swim! How may others were watching for the same reason?

I really hope you've gotten in to a doc for your back, as it pains us to see you in pain. Do take care, James. - Leigh

I feel for you I suffer with a bad back but when I was on the canal on holiday my back was fine all week
Glad you got your keys back, and that you managed to see an osteopath.
Cheers James thanks for sharing 🤣🤣
Sorry to hear about your back, that's rubbish.
Good to see you and the kids back though.
I doubt you forget to put the bag in next time haha 😄
That'll learn ya mate. Cheers!

One of the next project must be some sound damping on that diesel.. :-)
Top "Swinging Bridging" Young James. I guess leaving the keys in the box is like chucking them in the middle at parties ? !
Happy Thanksgiving!

Arthur seems to take after his father
Ah - the joys of fatherhood!
Hi James sorry to hear about your back just wondering what you have done to your back, pray tell or is it a little personnel!!
How’s general upgrading of the boat doing? Slowed down now your on the cut?
Is is possible to put the bow camera so it's not focusing on the boat but on the vie ahead?

I always think could a impact driver be used on the locks????
