What I like about James videos is the most honest channel you can find when it comes to building a narrow boat , James always presents an honest interpretation of what the work is like and doesn’t hide from it or edit the bad bits and that’s why I really enjoy watching his videos
You tell it as it is James, your personality and the project are great, the world is not so good out there, this channel brings a warmth and effort to bring something to together for your children and yourself. I love that. Thanks and so looking forward to the next year and more with your vlogs. Richard's music is so fitting too. Take care.
Really interesting vid there James, I'm actually very pleased that youre getting something tangible out of your YouTubing. I think I found your channel in its first weeks and have watched you through til now and for the diversion and entertainment youve provided, you deserve some extra reward on top of the nice new home. So congrats on the first year and good luck for the next. (ps I fully agree on the livestreams, I cant abide them !)
Hi James, well done on this vlog, every penny you earn from RUclips is well earned and deserved, not a lot of RUclipsrs will divulge such information on what they earn as a RUclipsr, but you are always so honest about things, which in my opinion makes you the great gentleman that you are. Keep up the good work and I as always look forward to each vlog as and when it comes along.
Its funny because if its wasnt for you guys watching there would be no ads - im happy to share info like this as you all help to generate it. Thanks for the support Pete
James what a lovely candid vlog. I have never heard any other RUclipsr say how much they get for uploading vlogs. I feel as though I should watch them all twice to generate more. We have loved being part of your life over the past year. "Shall we do a James" is a phrase we say nearly every night 😂😂 I know it sounds odd from someone you don't really know but watching your channel is like catching up with a friend. So thank you for the past year and here's to the next one 😊
Thats why i did the vid because ive never heard a vlogger talk about the money - apart from saying how little it is which simply isnt the case. glad to hear im a phrase in your home !! It doesnt sound odd at all - i feel like im talking to friends everytime the red lights on x
Dear James, From Texas- Thank you so much for all that you have shown us this last year. When we first saw you, you were sitting in what seemed like a hull of a boat, on a pile of bricks..laying bricks into the bottom of the boat. We were so captivated and immediately interested in “ what the hell is he doing?” The rest is history for us. Actually rushing home to see what happened next..but, most of all, the fact that you never, ever, gave up. You were undaunted, and this is so inspiring! Now, in our house, when there is a challenge, or a really nasty task..it’s a James and the Bricks thing to do, to overcome, to tackle! So wonderful to see you in the boat now! Today, I’ve got a nasty challenge to tackle..but I’m just going to “James and the Bricks It” and march on! With Best Wishes for future cruising!
I think what constitutes a successful youtube channel is a symbiosis of the person presenting, the content and the audience. All three must work together. You manage to combine all three and quite frankly its just great. I’m very grateful for all the content, information, demonstrations, ups and downs, cliffhangers, laughs, friends, chats, all of it.
You've always been very transparent and inclusive James, and you work very hard to keep us interested and entertained. Your nightly videos were such a comfort during lockdown, and they've continued to be like visiting with an overachieving friend who drinks too much tea! Thanks for giving us all this information about your journey and I hope you feel comfortable limiting what you share in spite of the fact that we're like little sponges out here and will watch and listen to just about anything you put out. Good to know we're all helping out Sir Mick a little bit, bless 'im. And, god knows, we're all hoping we're not one of the ones hanging on by the skin of our teeth. Cheers James--carry on!
I'll need to double check with the channel viewer management department for where you appear on the naughty list - Im sure youre up there, but maybe not quite as high as "skin of your teeth" - that's positions 3 to 7 and i seem to recall you were at position 11 last time we had a committee meeting.
Young James. You are a "Top Chap". We all Love You Brother and we miss you up here in "The Midlands". Keep up the fantastic videos. You have a natural and honest presentation skill. Looking forward to all your future work. :-)
80% of your viewer is UK. I’m the 0.1% viewer from Malaysia ;) somehow rather I just fell in love with UK ever since I studied there 25 years ago. I’m one of your subscriber and I also follow cruising the cut. Narrow boat living really attracts me and the scenery is to die for…. beautiful & peaceful. I can imagine myself staying in a narrow boat enjoying the people around going to pub for a drink. Every morning waking up making a cup of tea for breakfast and feeding the ducks near the canal. And not to forget sitting down there soaking up the beautiful scenery while puffing a cigarette :P
@@TheNarrowboatThatJamesBuilt Absolutely a narrow boat. will be a 57ft Cruiser or semi cruiser with a well deck and will be a 2 + 2 reverse layout and walk through bathroom with multi fuel stove. Full of storage including over the beds.
Wow what a brilliant journey watching you for last 12 months has been. I found these videos interesting, and educating at the same time. Loved it! Respect to you Young James! You are a Top man! Hope you have a fantastic future ahead. Thank You!
Thank you James that really was interesting. I consider myself to be a newbie to your channel. I started watching in September and desperately trying to catch up, although I am also watching from where you left the NKW, so backwards and forwards. I too work for Surveyors in the City and I wholeheartedly agree with you regarding livestreams, they are tedious in the extreme, with the hosts just reading out a list of names for two hours. Keep on doing it your way, it it isn't broken, don't fix it. Best wishes Christine x
James your videos are a very honest no nonsense stuff , your a guy who's honest about his mistakes and your always happy to except suggestions from your watchers and improve your self and your boat that's very respectable and humble and that's what I like about you sir , I've watched you from the start and enjoyed the journey and will continue to watch you as long as i can , im also looking to buy a narrowboat next year and i hope to see you and share a beer with you on the cut one day . stay true to your self and don't change a thing your a great example of the British man trying his best respect to you
Worth every penny I would say. When people ask where were you when JF Kennedy was killed or when Princess Diana died. I remember when you said there was a hole in the hull...my heart sank. I can only speak for myself but James well done you. Give my regards to Carol x
Will, I just viewed this. Wow! What a great clip from my early review of your channel as part of my old Narrowboat Vlog of Vlogs series. I still feel that same way about your channel. It's a must view for those fitting out or refurbishing a narrowboat. I haven't vlogged in such a long time. I gave up Vlog of Vlogs when Lisa Warner started doing much the same thing. Instead I switched to a vlog based on an American's view of the UK canal life style as well as the history of American Canals. Frankly I ran out of things to say that I thought anyone wanted to hear. That takes me up to today. After watching your vlog, I'm going to restart the Vlog of Vlogs under the American Narrowboat channel. The fact that you felt what I was doing actually may have helped you in the early vlogs, has inspired me to pick up the idea again. Besides, with travel down, viewing all of the NB channels is once again the only way I can stay in touch with canal life.
Mate, another one of your vlogs from the heart, I love them. Although I’ve never met you I consider you one of my good friends. You are a true man, your children are lucky to have you as their father. Your perseverance and tenacity helped me deal with my cancer. I got laid up about the time your first vid came on. I’m back to work and doing well. Thank you for your inspiration. Crack on. Stay well.
Mate well done for dealing with your cancer. I didnt know but im glad youve found strength and inspiration here to help - and the occassional giggle to remind us all that laughing at something can sometimes be just the ticket !!
Brilliant! It's your honesty James that we all adore. Not blinding by the RUclips money and just in it for the content and us viewers. Personally it's why I love the channel. I appreciate my comments will get lost within the masses by I will always add my best wishes. Like I've said all along, you have kept me going and thar is amazing. Matt x
Fairplay to you James. RUclips is so helpful and it gives an opportunity for people to make so Dosh showing people everyday life. You've done well out if it. Keep um coming.
James this channel is great and you deserve everything you get from it, I think personally think it’s brilliant and I literally can’t wait for the next upload, like I’ve said before this channel is better than sliced bread.
I, too, am a relative newbie, but wish I'd found you earlier. I've seen a couple of your early vids and am amazed at what you've accomplished in a year. At any rate, as others have indicated, I look forward to checking in with you each day, all the way from Texas. Keep up the good work on the boat and as a dad. -Leigh
As one of your American subscribers, you are welcome! Heh heh. I don’t need a browser add-on as my preferred method of watching is through the Apple TV. The ads are not very intrusive there, so I’m glad they provide you with more than beer money. Keep it going - winter is cold and long here near Chicago, and I look forward to seeing the fire going.
@@TheNarrowboatThatJamesBuilt I live about 10 minutes from Hinsdale! If you ever make it out this way to visit your cousin the drinks are on me! Winters are long but summers can be both delightful and hot. Autumns are nice and Spring is rejuvenating. Let’s just say that narrowboating here would be a 3-season sport… and toasty during the summer!
Hello again. I was very interested in your video about "traditional" portholes, and your approach to fitting, and thankfully everything went well (so much hardworking and effort!) Then this video "popped up" and very honest it is too, especially when dealing with "financial matters", which takes integrity and level headedness. Thank you once again.
This is a great channel. Congratulations on a successful year with the boat and RUclips. I actually don’t have much interest in boats but like learning about things I find interesting. Keep up the good work.
Cracking vid mate, it shows you took a lot of time and thought into that, you captured the lot, ups and downs and most of all the community, always a pleasure and even a year on I still daily look forward to your videos. Looking forward to even more in the future and I am glad you enjoy doing them as much as we like watching them, all the best pal!
I appreciate your very candid approach. Nobody else talks about this in such detail. I thought that money was only earned when viewers watched ads - so unless the ads are very long we will sit through them. I will admit to being partial to vloggers who disallow midroll vlogs though - and for those if there are ads at the end we'll watch them. I take it it's not just the ads that help. Generally we watch on one account and I comment and like on another. That might end up counting as two views so there's that!
Hi James, I'm from Florida in USA, I have a son who lives in Kingston Upon Thames with his wife who is British and my two grandkids. I fell in love with the adventure of Narrowboat living watching CountryHouseGent's RUclips channel. Then the more I explored Narrowboating, I came across your channel. At first I didn't care much for your videos but quickly you grew on me with you sincere down to earth personality along with my love of UK canals and all the history that goes with them. Hopefully next year I will be visiting my son and his family again and we'll do a narrow boat vacation on the canals or Thames, I'm really looking forward to it. Good luck on your Journeys and keep making your sincere down to earth videos. You really handled yourself well with that unexpected intrusion on your boat. Good day
Lovely update watched you from the very start mostly when I can't sleep you seem a genuinely nice guy who tells it how it is , the rough with the smooth, your doing a cracking job the boat is starting to be a proper home keep up the good work and look forward to your next projects large and small well done .
James I have watched every video which I have enjoyed I hope you continue and complete your boat and I hope one day to down from Manchester to meet you to see your fabulous work
great video mate you tell it how it is for you boaters. and you have had more problems than most. well done and hope it all goes well from now on, and you earn a few bob,
What a good way to start the weekend watching your vlog, an honest account of the system for us non vloggers and non boaters. Love watching the progress over the year and reward for all your hard work. Ime sure there are many adventures ahead for you and look forward to you sharing it with us.
Hi James, It been great to see/ follow your journey during the passed 12 months, the ups and downs! Looking forward to the next 12 months. I am looking to buy my own nb (Saving saving) and its down to the vlogs that you and others have put out. Thank you!
@@TheNarrowboatThatJamesBuilt Ihave still kept watching and donated to the hole I am only a small pebble on your beach now James I think you have been an inspiration to a lot of people.
I’m one of those people that came in late and binged until I caught up and didn’t miss a post after that. It was fun to see your progress. Thangs again James.
Happy birthday James :) Thank you for a year of entertainment, knowledge, fun, occasional worry.... and the odd tear! So pleased to see you are on top of the one or two people who give unkind comments. Never understand why they watch. I hope the next year is a great one for you :) Proud to be part of your community x
Brilliant video James, I fitted out a traditional narrow boat tug from a bare shell and engine in the 1990s working full time in the nhs fleeing up and down the motorway between shifts so I really know how hard you’ve worked to get this far and producing videos as well, followed all your ups and downs, much appreciated mate.
Nice video James. Over here in America I'm a big fan of narrowboating and would be absolutely chuffed to experience the canals. All the best mate and as for the haters - haters gonna hate. Cheers!
James I like your honesty I think that basically you’re a good bloke I have been one in the past to be judgmental but , you know really who am I to criticise, you’ve worked very hard having to work full time and build your boat is not easy , I know that from living on a narrowboat myself for the past 6 years it’s not easy to have two jobs specially as most of your work is physical on the boat . I will continue to watch you , your an interesting person and I like your commitment, so good luck James and look forward to watching more of your channel , I will say one last thing if you don’t like this channel then you should really keep your nasty comments to yourself something I’ve learned to do myself . All the best James
Hi James, have been following for a while, as you know here are lot of vloggers out there and i do spend an increasing amount of time watching them, ( one of the benefits of being retired..) but of all that I watch your honesty , candidness and openness make your vids a pleasure to watch. Keep going mate and all the best foir the next year and beyond....
Thanks for putting up this vlog James. We are planning to start a vlog when we finally get on our boat next year. You made it look so easy just using you phone. We thought it was a lot more high-tech than how you got started. Kudos to you for starting your vlog and carrying your new friends along with you.
Hi were new to your vlogs on you tube . We been reaLy enjoying what youre achieving, how you have done it so well. Looking forward to each vlog keep up good work
Loved the vlog. Been with you from the start, and have to admit shouting at you on occasion, as you’ve shared your thought process and I can see the the disaster looming. It has been great fun. My wife has stopped watching with me😂. You’re a lovely man and deserve every success. Very best wishes, Bill.
Great vlog James really appreciate you're honesty. This channel has definitely made me laugh cry but also I've learned a lot as well keep it up cheers ian
Greetings from Florida. About a month ago I started watching videos about narrowboats, I like video where I actually learn or see something interesting. I only about 40 or so videos watched and enjoy seeing the progression coming along. I do not like videos of someone just yanking on about nothing and they may show a small fast forwarded clip of them boating along. Restoration of a boat is interesting. I love seeing projects being started and completed.
Hi James and a very interesting vlog. The figures seem reasonable. We love how you present the journey snd your honest nature is refreshing. Keith & Helen.
Morning James. Your channel is a breath of fresh air and it’s as honest as it can be and you deserve every single penny 🤩 Keep the fantastic videos coming matey 👍🏻
Absolutely fantastic video James, very candid, answered questions I didn't even know I wanted to ask. Very very well edited and a great insight into the workings on "the other side " of the camera.
Thank you for sharing with us. I came aboard around the nineties and look forward to seeing more. I like the way you tackle problems and solve them good enough for you. Cheers
James 180+ comments all saying how much they have enjoyed the past year watching you tackle each section of your build also the emotional journey you have been on plus meeting Will, Carol and not forgetting the marina team. Keep on with the build you still have quite a few unfinished task to complete. We will all be looking forward to your next vlog.
Love it James " In a shopping centre full of 6000 people 30 or 40 are bound to be wankers" Well having spent 50 years working in retail (retired) I can assure you its much higher than that! :) :) Enjoying your channel and adventures.
I felt inspired by your videos and others to start my own vlog when my build gets going, as after fitting out my Campervan and having no real record of all the work done it would be good to have for my boat, but I find filming and editing soo tedious, hence having never completed my NVQ3 portfolio 🙄 The frequency of your vids alongside the amount of work you did on the boat at the same time blew my mind! Any remuneration you receive is well earned!!
hi james,we love your honesty.we live on a boat in WallsaL. i loved your vlog about the break-in,we was in stitches.Anyway, you keep well and keep the vlogs going.IF you come to the midlands,we will have a LOUD PARTY. lol. CHRIS & AMANDA XXX
Excellent! 100% agree with you James especially on Live Streams - these are just people reading comments and having banter with some of the ones they know, so doesn't really offer any interest to the general public. You deserve all the money you get!
I have been impressed, you have done a great job. Wish there was a video of when you had issues removing the “ river fishing magnet”. LOL looking forward to cruising videos and finishing of the boat.
LOL, I'm with you about live streams - I don't watch them. I love how you present your videos and if I weren't living on a pension, I join. Cheers, James.
Well done on a very honset video, you desrve it, i know how much work goes into making a video, I wouln;t worry about the keyboard warriers . Keep up the good work. There are a lot of vloggers on Narrowboating subjects but your one as a charm about it that i like and subscribe to.
Great thanks for explaining what you get for what you do. I think you deserve every penny for the hours of entertainment you have given to everyone who has watched your channel. Your honesty and openness is a breath of fresh air. 👍
Thanks for posting this vlog James, not many you tubers would be this open! One thing you might have missed is if it wasn’t for your Channel and your likeable nature Sloe Patrol may not be with you now as I’m sure it helped with raising the funds for the replating. It re-emphasises the point you make about the community your channel has built. We love watching and are always looking forward to a new notification of a vlog and are happy to watch a few ads to help partially fund an excellent channel.
morning James thank you for that candid and very informative vlog we're pleased you are earning a little for all the hard work you put in not just on the boat but keeping all us entertained watching your journey to making Sloe Patrol into a fantastic home has been so informative.Although abit of a roller coaster journey. We live in South West France and are waiting for completion on our house sale and are planning a move back to the UK 23 years in France is enough our plans are to buy a narrowboat and be continuous cruisers, so you never know our paths might cross one day. keep up the good work Allan Jo Williams
Sounds like you’ve had an interesting year. I had always wondered about how the financial side of RUclips works . I’m sure the ladies will be back come the Spring time 😂 warm weather makes boating seem much more romantic I guess. Take care 😊
James! I started watching in the early days due to lockdown and I’m super pleased for you that you’ve managed by accident and good Grace to earn something from it 🤩 keep on being a lovely human being! Oh and I’m working on a glass piece for you but have no idea where to post it to?!
So happy for you and enjoy greatly watching your channel. My husband and I worry if we don’t see one for a few days. We’re in North Carolina and because you said you earn so much more from the United State’s viewers, we will most certainly continue to view. I mentioned your beautiful tile colors and hope you can pull those colors to help you decorate your beautiful boat! My husband has built many wood boats; up to 26 foot and has a cabin cruiser he is working on. Try the different sites in the UK like we have here in the USA so you can gets the bits and pieces, as you say there to help finish and complete your “Home”. You can’t just keep sitting in that directors chair! A hardworking man needs a good leather chair to sit in when he gets home. We haven’t heard your music-we know you play, so please film some of that before everyone gets carried away with the little bit of alcohol 🍷 🍻🍾, or a brew ☕️🫖. I believe we would all like to hear it! Take care of yourself! My husband and I think you need a small dog to cruise with you when you get her done! Do y’all call boats “Her” in the UK? Well, check out some thrift stores for cushions to use as is, or convert by spray glueing them together and having someone make covers for them. I believe over the next few months you will have the floors down and the boat will have a place for books, trinkets, shelving and will be complexly done. Don’t forget to put something about Mick Jaggar on the boat, even if a book about his life! Get your oldest daughter involved in helping you. No pink or purple! Take care from The Richardson’s if North Carolina!
Oh, I forgot. There are many videos about covering cushions on RUclips. The main trick is so ever inside out and the fit will be perfect when you turn it back right side out! ☺️
James one of the reasons you have followers who hang out for your vlogs is because of ones like this one. Your openness and candour together with your humour keeps us all coming back. I also hope your are prepared to continue to sacrifice some dollars to royalties, as I've really enjoyed your Dad's work 😀
Gooday James. A nice candid video and with regards earnings for individual videos being different despite similar views. It's all dependant on how each viewer interacts with the video (and how much of an advert they watch) - does someone watch the whole video, or most of it, some of it, or switch off after 30 seconds? Each one counts as a view, just each a different type of view. Heck, even those who click a video solely to dislike it, count as a view - so they need an extra special pat on the back as well. 😂 Congratulations on a year of Youtubing,
Hello there my friend - thanks for getting in touch and giving your insight - it’s a minefield but I’m slowly getting the hang of it. I have a handful who dislike immediately regardless of content - after a year, I reckon they’ve bought me a pint or two !!! Stay well mate
How about that....watching from the USA and I hope it puts a buck or 2 in your coffers.. I never will be able to cruise on a narrowboat...or. ,probably, ever get to walk again in my own. Back yard ...but can't wait to watch you cruise..keep posting.
Hi James thanks so much for showing me it can be done. I used to live on a narrowboat until this year but unfortunate circumstances meant I had to leave my dream behind. Now with renewed vigour and once my divorce is behind me I know that with determination and effort I can get back to my dream. Has it really been a year already?
James with regard to the live stream section. I think we’d all enjoy watching you being “interviewed” by Will with him asking viewers questions. Not in a live stream setting but more of a send our questions in for a later recording. That way we’d get to watch 2 mates having a laugh and also be part of the episode. That would of course require Will to set up an email address so you don’t get a peek at the questions.
Hello James I enjoyed your candid and honest vblog today only using your phone you have done well I look forward to watching your video's as they are down to earth your are doing great I have watched your high and low especially with underneath the boat that must have been a very low for you but you managed to solve it Then with the unexpected visitor was so good how you handled it very calmly on camera which was a good idea on the hoof it was a protective thing to do for you I wish you all the best in what you do with Sloe Patrol and enjoy life with your children and family best wishes from Kevin in Thailand
I live on the American east coast in the state of North Carolina near the coast but my family name dates back to Faversham Hundred, Snodland Parish in Kent County, England. The first mention (on paper) of the Tilghman family name goes back as far as 1225 with the first recorded Tilghman (Johannes). Tilghman has to be English because it's got a silent "gh" in it like caught, sought, thought, etc, who else but the British? It's thought that the name originated in Europe as Von Til (our family's English Coat of Arms & the Von Til family's Coat of Arms in Germany are very similar). Who know? So I feel tied to Britain in a way, our family's history began on that side of the pond before we came here in the 1600's before there was a United States. The British canal system has been a passion of mine for sometime and I have followed several narrowboaters so when you started a channel, your first video hit my wall and I've followed every video since. I've dreamed of moving to England buying a narrow boat and living on the canal system but I've also had dreams of buying an ocean cruiser and circumnavigating the earth too! They are just dreams because I'm partially disabled, old as Methuselah and skint broke so dreams are all I have along with a near derelict 1984 Pearson 26 sailboat I spend my weekends on, even bought a used solid fuel heater so I can stay on it in the cooler months too! But no matter if I'm in my falling apart home or spending time on my sailboat, RUclips and your videos are always there. Thank you for taking me along on your journey! I've enjoyed them all.
i loved reading that story of your name and journey. Gregg, a weekend as a free man on a sailboat IS a thing of dreams - even if it doesnt work and doesnt move - youre alive and free
My sailboat may be almost derelict but she still sails. All her electrics work, I have a 100w solar panel and 1 100 aH lead acid battery and solar charger. She has a composting head I put together for about $120 so no pump out and no plumbing to worry about there. I use a 5 gal bottle of water with a pump on it for drinking and cooking. A small hand pump sink and 20 gal tank for washing dishes and cleanup. She has a heater now. I had a stroke in 2018 which took away strength and stamina so there are things I can't do like raise a big anchor but I can rig a sail and raise it. When word got out that I was launching and I didn't have slip, post-stroke and I had to moor my boat and row to it, one guy showed up with a 35 lb anchor, a woman came by and said her husband just bought all new anchor chain and told her to bring the old 25 feet of chain to me. What appeared to be a brand new mooring ball appeared at my boat while I was gone to Lidl in New Bern for groceries. All I had to do was make up a rope bridle. So you've seen first hand how loving and kind the boating community is. I'm worried about that 35 lb anchor, I don't think it's big enough for a mooring anchor, especially since we live in a hurricane-prone area so friends are keeping an eye out for something bigger either free or cheap. But for right now, that 35 lb anchor has held fast.
@@andrewwheeler2599 Hello Andrew! thanks for the kind words! I used to live in Norfolk on Ocean View back in the 80's before it all went condo. Lived on the Chesapeake beach. I loved it there! My stroke may have slowed me down but it has not stopped me. Me and a younger friend went to the boat last weekend and pulled her outboard off and he's working on it in his garage over the winter season to see if he can get her to crank like she used to, choke out, 2 pulls cranked it and choke in and she warmed up and was dependable. Everybody has dreams but I'm not obsessed with them, I've been poor but healthy, I have a beautiful daughter and a precious 6 year old granddaughter (she's been sailing since she was 4), both love sailing. Almost everyone I know with a fancy house, nice cars, boat payment and investments are worried wrecks on anti-depressives and I can live without that! 😂
@@greggtilghman6349 Wow on Ocean View... You must be familiar with Thimble Shoals Lighthouse. I've been working on that thing over 16 years. My friend was the lucky highest bidder on it when it was auctioned off. We go out as often as possible to do work and chill. We go out from Willoughby Spit marina. He actually lives on Ocean View. We have tons of memories and hard work on the projects over the years. It is the projects that make it fun and exciting. It is a never ending project! Totally agree with your last paragraph. Enjoy!

I’m very grateful for all the content, information, demonstrations, ups and downs, cliffhangers, laughs, friends, chats, all of it.
thats excellent to know - thats how it feels to me to be frank - so glad it appears that way to you
You've always been very transparent and inclusive James, and you work very hard to keep us interested and entertained.

Best wishes Christine x
oh thats tricky mentally to go back and forth like that. "Surveyors in the City" - now theres a TV show !!
You've got one of the most genuine and honest channels on youtube man. Keep it up. From Kilkenny, Ireland.
oh now thats a nice part of the world
James your videos are a very honest no nonsense stuff , your a guy who's honest about his mistakes and your always happy to except suggestions from your watchers and improve your self and your boat that's very respectable and humble and that's what I like about you sir , I've watched you from the start and enjoyed the journey and will continue to watch you as long as i can , im also looking to buy a narrowboat next year and i hope to see you and share a beer with you on the cut one day . stay true to your self and don't change a thing your a great example of the British man trying his best respect to you
cant wait to share that beer with you pal
Worth every penny I would say. When people ask where were you when JF Kennedy was killed or when Princess Diana died. I remember when you said there was a hole in the hull...my heart sank. I can only speak for myself but James well done you. Give my regards to Carol x
thanks Rebecca - as always x

Hello again. I was very interested in your video about "traditional" portholes, and your approach to fitting, and thankfully everything went well (so much hardworking and effort!) Then this video "popped up" and very honest it is too, especially when dealing with "financial matters", which takes integrity and level headedness. Thank you once again.

cheers pal - yep took a while that vid. too much overthinking !!
Couldn't agree more Andy. For me it's easily the best channel (that I've seen obviously) on You tube.
Hi James,
I'm from Florida in USA, I have a son who lives in Kingston Upon Thames with his wife who is British and my two grandkids.
Good day
You're doing a cracking job, James. Keep it up, and DLTBGYD!

It’s been an amazing journey you should be very proud of what you have achieved I personally wouldn’t have the time to build a boat.
James one of the reasons you have followers who hang out for your vlogs is because of ones like this one. Your openness and candour together with your humour keeps us all coming back.
Congratulations on a year of Youtubing,
Hello there my friend - thanks for getting in touch and giving your insight - it’s a minefield but I’m slowly getting the hang of it. I have a handful who dislike immediately regardless of content - after a year, I reckon they’ve bought me a pint or two !!! Stay well mate
Really fascinating stuff James. Thank you for sharing that.
That’s not a bad idea Jim - it’s in the box of things to seriously consider. Cheers
I'm pleased that you kept to the correct ratio of work time to tea drinking.
Hello James I enjoyed your candid and honest vblog today only using your phone you have done well I look forward to watching your video's as they are down to earth your are doing great I have watched your high and low especially with underneath the boat that must have been a very low for you but you managed to solve it

Keep your dreams and enjoy them... you just never know. Hello from Virginia.
i loved reading that story of your name and journey.

Enjoy!
