      where I live, "coin operated bathrooms" (they aren't called bathrooms where I live) DO exist in some places, I have used one before, although the coin acceptor thingy is at the entrance rather than on the individual cubicles, and sometimes there is a window where you pay instead of a coin acceptor
      the highest I've known the charge to be on these is 40p ($0.71 CAD)
      EDIT: most of them are 20p ($0.35 CAD) though, I've only seen one which was 40p so far, and the one I used was 20p, the ones which have a window generally charge less for children, usually 10p ($0.18 CAD)

    OK so here is what I learned:
    5. Don't go to concerts about artist that are nothing but the creation of marketing and consumerism, because they will milk you down to the last dollar.
    4. Don't pay for the seats together in the plane. Instead of that make a drama on the plane about strangers sitting next to your kids, make sure the captain have to come and says that you all have to sit together.
    3. Your bank is too far away for driving there so you go to that bank on the corner instead? Just one of this days open an account there too... You can have accounts in multiple banks, there is not problem doing this.
    2. Get your bills online.
    1. Rotary phones are obsolete, But so are land lines... Go mobile.

      I loved my rotary phone!!!! It was so much fun to have, especially when there was 3 party lines. Now how many people remember those days? There were a lot of fights over who was going to get off the line so so-and-so could have it. Or pray tell there was an emergency! And then pick up the line and hear that person just gabbing away....Yeap. Rotary, party lines, dial-up...the times are changing.

    • @900Yugo
      @900Yugo 7 лет назад

      Growing up in Taiwan,we never had party lines, even in rural areas. Instead, every telephone line goes through a switch that is connected to the nearest telephone exchange. Since most of the telephone lines in rural areas were connected to the nearest exchanges, phone numbers vary even in the same area. By early 2000 the phone provider decided to remove all copper telephone lines from use and switch to fibre. Today rotary dialing is still possible, but not many people use it anymore. So all landline services are connected to a fiber optic splitter then the fiber is feed into the exchange. Not only we have the one of the world's fastest service,we also have one of the lowest costs for internet and telephone service in the world yet provides amazing quality.

      So it's ok to give me a fee for a piece of paper to know how much I owe the bank? Also, they're charging a fee on paper "to go green", and it's an "effort to keep costs low." Most hypocritical bull I've ever heard of.
      There's a comment down below that says how idiotic of a statement it is, that they're charging you a fee, to keep costs low. Think about that for a minute. No sense whatsoever.

    • @youisdumb4444
      @youisdumb4444 8 лет назад +7

      +Jeremy Sidabutar they're prepared to pay for the paper that advertises their business or reminds you to pay because they will make money off of those, they don't make any money off of sending you a monthly statement - so they are loosing money unless they charge you
      HOWEVER
      if you get an online statement, giving you the statement costs them nothing (that's the low cost part) so they won't charge you for it
      It's not fair to expect them to eat the cost on something that will generate NO business

    • @jeremysidabutar769
      @jeremysidabutar769 8 лет назад +5

      Really? They're losing money on giving you a piece a paper on how much you actually owe the bank? Doubt it. They're profiting, correct me if I'm wrong, from the video, 70 million. It doesn't cost anywhere near that amount. Clearly a cash grab.
      Heck, it would be better marketing to tell people that their company doesn't have these insane fees, instead of packing in 20 pounds of junk mail in each mailbox.
      Why is it acceptable for a company to claim that they care about being green, when they're not applying even applying it in their marketing.
      TERRIBLE PUBLIC IMAGE.

    • @inspiratron
      @inspiratron 5 лет назад +18

      To me, what the banker said made complete sense: if it's 25 minutes to get to your branch, yet there is a branch of another bank much closer, why not bank with the closer bank? I've switched banks before, and changing bank accounts is not *that* much work, and would certainly be worth avoiding a 50-minute round trip to get to the nearest branch.

    • @nikkigeddes3081
      @nikkigeddes3081 4 года назад

      To be honest, it is very easy to switch banks, I do it all the time now out of principal. People have this tendency to think it is complicated, it's not. It takes some time but well worth it. I do this all time and for AUTO/HOME insurances too. The gauge you every year with an increase... so what I do I can when they send me my renewal with an increase. They call you after to see what they can do to make me stay... guess what too late, you should have done that before f&*%$#@ me over. That banker's attitude was very wrong.... basically saying go elsewhere if you're not happy, then we do. I love it when they call offering their products... GO to Hell comes out my mouth all the time.

It's great that they do email, but why not just email the promotions and save the bills so you have actual, physical record of where you spent that money. No one would freak out if they lost a promo email, but I bet they would if they lost their only copy of bills.

Verizon was charging $280.00 for my 5 phone family plan with a cap. I now pay $190.00 for unlimited 5 phone plan with unlimited 5G internet service. Savings per month $345.00 per month or $4,140 per year. We get 36 free channels on our TV. Am I smart, not sure, but richer. How did my changes of service happen? Charter charged me $14 to come to my house to address a wireless internet service problem that was completely unavoidable by me. It was their fault a company lineman knicked my feed cable 30 feet up a utility pole. They said there was nothing they could do.......turns out there was something I could do. Verizon service was fine but they just were to high for my needs.

    The fees TicketMaster/TicketTron can charge in the U.S.A. are even more costly, and more ridiculous. They have NO competition, and if you try to fight it, like Pearl Jam and others 20 or 25 years ago, you find out that you'll find very few even modestly sized arenas willing to work with you. Also, the "second hand" sellers like StubHub, etc., are almost ALL owned by, guess who? That's right, TicketMaster buys up a portion of high demand, high cost, concert and event tickets, including all those fees, and then they resell those same tickets, using the same system, same infrastructure, and in many cases many of the same people (often no people are even involved), but every customer will be paying lot's of money to each company, the SAME company.

  • @largebiff1743
    @largebiff1743 3 года назад +1

    Let's see. After reading a bunch of comments I have these suggestions. Get a presale account at your favourite venue for first pick concert tickets. I've never bought through Ticketmaster. Get quotes from different insurance brokers then play them against each other. I did the same with Rogers and Bell and got my services for about half of what you would usually pay. Not going to tell you which one I picked. I didn't pay their equipment or installation fees either. Just a cash grab so tell them if they want a long term customer to waive the fees. YOU are doing them the favour, not vice versa. If you have a set minimum you never have to pay ATM fees. Never get extended warranties. If their warranty on a product isn't good enough then go elsewhere. Oh yes. and put money in the bank each week like you're making payments and when you want to buy something you have the cash to do it. Realize how much interest fees you would save in a lifetime. Common sense isn't all that common.

    Banks share network, to maintain those networks it costs, and it costs a lot, which people don't realize... You have to pay for expensive servers and equipment(routers and everything), those servers consume a lot of electricity, they need to be maintained, they need a proper(expensive) facility to stay in. The software for this needs to be maintained and developed, that's people that need to be payed: Software Developers, Software Engineers, Security Researchers, Network Administrators, Testers, and the list goes on and on...
