I just bought a 72 Ranchero myself, Mines green though, I got a smoking deal on it, He wanted $3500 for it plus he had a 2 door 2000 Pontiac Grand-Am that he wanted $1500 for and I bought them $4,000. I took the deal mainly because my grandson that lives with me is about to turn 12 and he's going to need a car here a couple years anyway plus I can drive the Grand Am while I get the Ranchero done then I can park the Grand-Am and we will still have time to work on it when he needs it. Not bad considering I didn't even have the Grand-Am on my radar so either way you look at it I got $1000 by doing a package deal, He had them listed seperately and had not even gottan a message about the Grand-Am, A 2 door grand am is pretty rare to see for sale.
I just acquired the title for this old Rancho a couple weeks ago so I'm going to continue with the restoration now. First thing I'm going to do is pull the engine and build a big block to get ready to power this old tank.
It would be really cool to use as a everyday driver but these old cars require a ton of maintenance to keep them running and they only get about 10mpg if your lucky. But it's still awesome to have! Thanks for watching.
I am trying to decide how much hp engine to build for it. I'm thinking I will use the factory 351 block but bore it stroke it and put aluminum race heads with headers and 4.10 rear end. Or I can simply build it back stock. Let me know what you'd rather see
I'd agree~!!! It's a "500", NOT a 72 Sport/GT package. Your first option sounds great - bore-it, cam, headers, etc. and make sure you enjoy it~!!! This way, you've created a 500 "w/benefits"~!!! It may be a little in your favor (intrinsically), later when/if you resale(?). Otherwise, I'd hate to see a 1972 Ranchero Sport/GT lose it's identity (historically) - but not the case with the 500. That's just my "2-cents" though. Enjoy, whatever you want to do - that's the point😁👍
@@rustyrestorationww1ww2 wow thats good did it sound tight thats good it runs, the torino bodystyle is pretty cool tho,i should hunt a ltd2 body style, but nice ride anyway

She’s a Beaut! I love 72’s myself! And need a Ranchero for my collection.
Thank you. They are beautiful classics and can be easily made into a muscle car
@@rustyrestorationww1ww2 I have two Sports and a wagon.
That is really cool. What engines do they have?
@@rustyrestorationww1ww2 one Sport has a 302, I put a 69 429 in the other and my wagon is a factory 429 car.
That is really cool. I really like the tourqe from the 429 it's a frame twister engine and with a comp cam they sound amazing.
Nice car. 👍
Thank you!!
To think that is just sitting there when I could be using it every day. 😊

Ready for part Two!! 🤩
I am working on a real nice video now..

@@rustyrestorationww1ww2 if it's a 351c bore and stroke it to 408 and put a cam in it!

Neat old classic I was going to restore but I haven't got around to yet unfortunately
@@rustyrestorationww1ww2 I think it’s definitely worth restoring
I know it’s just me, but man, I love the sound of that starter when you are cranking that!
Hahaha well it's electrifying 12v of pure D/C power!! 🤣
Very nice! Congrats!
Thank you!!!
❤
It's going to be a long road
Make it a dually only one on earth imagine that
That would be awesome!!
What did you do with it?
Hello. It is still sitting right here waiting on me to come restor it.
Wasn't that taking a chance with almost 10 year old gas. Great video
Yes and the gas was not very good so I am pulling the tank and cleaning it out while I have the engine and transmission out as well.
Thanks for watching
I have a 73 that seems to be the same color. What is your paint code?
This was a service I did for a customer back when I was ffl licensed gunsmith. Now I just do it for myself . Thanks for watching
@@rustyrestorationww1ww2 I am asking about your car. I think you replied to another message.
Liquid starting fluid
I used raw gas to pour down the carburetor and it fired up. It didn't run long because the tank is dirty needs replaced

ya sounds like an old ford
Yes. I'm currently trying to find a big block to put in this old ranchero
