    Tarsar Marsar is arguably the prettiest trek in India. This is a title we do not give treks lightly. Especially when its formidable sister trek, Kashmir Great Lakes, is in the picture.
    Tarsar Marsar trek, which climbs to 13,201 ft, is not really difficult. It is rated as ‘moderate’. That too only because trekking days are slightly long.
    A moderate rating refers to marginally longer trekking days with a few steep climbs (example: climb to Tarsar Pass). This makes it a notch more difficult than the easy-moderate treks like Kedarkantha and Dayara Bugyal.
    This trek requires a good amount of cardiovascular endurance. You can begin by jogging everyday. Start jogging at a slow pace and then keep increasing your pace day by day. In order to be prepared for high altitude trek, you should have a combination of distance and speed targets.

      If you're talking about July, you can expect comfortable temperatures during the day, between 15 and 22 degrees (it could drop some more if it is cloudy). At night, the temperatures will drop to 1-5 degrees. You'll need at least 3 warm layers.

    1. Can Tarsar-Marsar be planned as first Himalayan trek?
    2. How many days/month of pre-planning (exercise/physical training) required for a non trekker/non exercise person who is planning "FIRST" Himalayan trek?
    3. Can these treks (All Himalayan Treks), specifically this TM trek be planned solo or is it too much solitude to handle😅?..
    Please do reply..

    • @Indiahikes
      @Indiahikes  3 года назад +3

      Hello Kanchi,
      1. The Tarsar Marsar trek is a good option for a first Himalayan trek :) It's easier than the famous Kashmir Great Lakes but gives you a grand introduction to trekking in Kashmir. You can watch this video by Arjun Majumdar, where he explains why it is his favourite trek - ruclips.net/video/wu6H_gMKjmI/видео.html
      2. Usually for any Himalayan trek, adequate preparation is important. Reason being that these are high altitude treks, and good cardiovascular endurance along with leg strength would make your experience more rewarding & memorable. Here's our video on how to get fit for a high altitude trek - ruclips.net/video/lQ_LxiUsVBQ/видео.html
      3. Since you mention it's your first Himalayan trek, we would recommend you to go on this trek with a group. You could perhaps do a few Himalayan treks and see how comfortable you are at high altitude, and gain experience over time. This would not only ensure safety on your first Himalayan trek, but would also give you confidence to head out on solo adventures in due course.

      I trekked to Liderwat, 14 km from my guest house.
      After Lidderwat, next day, I used pony off and on.
      It will be better if u camp first at Liderwat then beyond Shekhwaas so that u will get ample time and energy to enjoy on the lakes.
