We buy high resolution 4k cameras and talk about sharpness and clarity and then put the filter on to make it look like a 5.1mp Sony point and shoot from 2005.
I have never really seen the point of using ND filters, but this is one of the best demonstrations I have seen. I still do think it depends on what is being filmed. Slow pan of landscape, then ND are not necessary, but fast motor sports, a must.
9:34 You interact with gimbal motors. My pocket 3 starts to vibrate during the same adjustment of Freewell filter, then shuts down in gimbal protection mode.
Great video! The CPL is very handy for fishing videos or anything water or glass related. I run them on my dashcams. I'm not as big a fan of the mist filters BUT I haven't had much hands on experience with them. It might be fun to try them during the golden hour on a lake and see what they do there. Thank you very much for your time. 👍👍
Hi, thank you for the comment! Yes i agree the CPL would be great for that. Yeah i don't think i'll use the mist filters that much but for a "dreamy" look i think they'll be perfect for! Glad you liked the video!
I've just recently bought one of these and it's absolutely fantastic. Which ones would you you recommend would be best for the DJI pocket 3 for cinematic looks.
Great video! Will you be covering the new Insta360 Ace Pro? Insta360 has ND filters available for it too. I would love to see a demonstration of it with ND filters.
How did you avoid the flickering of the lights on the Christmas market? I am rly a bit feared about Christmas market with the OP3 because some test footage had flickering in the lights
Thanks for this video it's very usefull for me because I didn't really understand how and why it works :) Your examples are perfect! :) Do you think that the DJI official version is not enough for our countries if I don't need mist and polarizes filters? (I live in North of France)
3:15 and 3:55 Look at the colors change. It's like you just filmed with Sony warm colors Camera (without this filter) and switched to Canon with Sigma lens attached (with filter). Those filters add purple color cast. I can tell, because I just got one.
I was thinking to buy the nds but to keep it in auto exposure. I don’t care if it’s 1/50 or 1/60 if it’s for vlogs. It’s better than being at 1/1000. Thoughts?
One correction I think in the states we are getting a 1/4 snow mist in the freewell pack. You keep saying pro mist or black mist snow mist is white flakes in the filter were the black mist is black flakes. The snow mist is a more dreamy effect where the black mist is more of darker ominous look, both bring a hazy bloom look just different moods
@@editorskeys cool just wanted to make sure, I was like damn I wanted the black mist in the pack instead of the snow mist. Lol also the 1000 nd great for long exposures and Timelapse/motionlapse
Yeah I think a lot of people don't mind them these days. It's just one of those subtle things now which you may not notice, but you probably feel like the quality looks higher when applied.
Hi, I have the same filter pack but I struggle to find the right balance when using ANY filter, mainly on partly cloudy/sunny days (I'm also in the UK) when it goes from light to dark, what is the best way to handle this please?
I was hoping that you would have an example of the light pollution filter as you stated. I plan on using ND filters and will add a mist filter to my kit. I'm not a fan of polarizing filters for video as they have to be adjusted and the light angle has to be right to get the maximum effect.
Thank you. Ordered my OP3 in November. . . wont get here til end of January! They must be selling a massive amount. I suppose it's maybe a cheaper brand, but I'm considering the Neewer nd/cpl filters. Is Freewell a noticeably superior product, in terms of material quality and performance?
That’s because you’re looking at the creator combo instead of the base kit. The base kit is fine. You can add a better Anker battery for $21, a better tripod for $6. Only thing I’d consider is the mic 2 but I’d just buy that later. The wide angle warps the image. You can just hold the camera farther with the tripod or selfie stick for better results.
Thanks for the video 👍🏻 you didn’t say maybe bcs you receive free filters from FREEWELL but … I own both DJI and FREEWELL Mist filters (one is a snow mist, the other one a Black mist …) and the FREEWELL one is totally unusable ! Too strong. However the DJI mist filter effect is much more light and nice. Even with their lens coating, these 2 filters don’t look the same. One is full of glitters on his glass (FREEWELL), when not at all on DJI ´s one. For the rest the ND filters are perfects and the ND/PL mainly done for water/ocean/lake films. If only to add contrast to the sky, it’s easier to add it in postprod.
Hey yes we haven't got the DJI version, but would love to get our hands on them. I do agree the Snow Mist is in a strange space for me and I honestly wouldn't use it 'most' of the time.
I injured one of my eyes years ago. I can accurately say that “Pro Mist” is what astigmatism looks like at night 😂. Or maybe I just have a pro mist eye.
No clouds, full sun 64 or 128 A few clouds 32 Early morning, late afternoon or many clouds 16 Full overcast 8 Dawn or dusk - none By the ocean, or lake - polarizer That’s just a basic suggestion.
I'm not an expert but setting a variable ISO will help a bit with this, as the gentleman that made the video says in another reply he "had it set to a fixed 50-200 range.". Other options are 50-400, 50-800, etc.. Loxton discusses how this helps when the sun goes down around the 11 minute mark here: ruclips.net/video/n0ObpmrovDo/видео.html&ab_channel=JamesLoxton
@@JosephWoodhall only negative about having this nd filter mounted is when we need to enter indoors like any station .Then i dont know higher iso or remove nd filter .
@@allstarbury yeah, that'll be a drastic change. Hopefully the variable ISO handles it because if not it's going to look a little funny taking the filter off mid-video. A variable ND filter is another option that may help in this sort of situation, with a little practice might be able to spin the wheel to change ND without the viewer really noticing
Pro Mist is the new buzz word since OP3 came out. It has its uses, but i see so many peopel proclaiming they must have it. Apparently the Emperor has a new suit as well 😂
The bad thing about these filters is you cannot leave it on the osmo Pocket 3 and turn it off and it close all the way is so annoying you have to take him off. I use Newell and I can keep them on and turn the camera off and it will shut all the way
I dont understand why freewell is shoving the unnecessary filters which you never will use and charge an arm and a leg. Most you can use nd is 8-64 max and how many cpl filters do you need thats why dji filters are more suitable of 3 strenght which you can use often.

I never understood pro mist filter… looks like you need to clean the lens 🤷♀️
Yes we thought that as well! I guess if you're going for a more of a "dreamy" soft look it works but i cant see me using it all the time.
We buy high resolution 4k cameras and talk about sharpness and clarity and then put the filter on to make it look like a 5.1mp Sony point and shoot from 2005.
Ditto
Yes agreed. Silly. I prefer to just shoot in D log & use no filters & correct everything in post
It’s for filming at night mainly with different coloured lights for cool dreamy effect. In the day time it can feel too exposed and muddy sometimes.
I have never really seen the point of using ND filters, but this is one of the best demonstrations I have seen. I still do think it depends on what is being filmed. Slow pan of landscape, then ND are not necessary, but fast motor sports, a must.
Thank you! Yes you are right it definitely depends on what you are shooting.
That's what I was looking for.
Really appreciated for the demonstration on most of the filters - it gives indeed a better view of its results.
Thank you! What do you think of the filters?
9:34 You interact with gimbal motors. My pocket 3 starts to vibrate during the same adjustment of Freewell filter, then shuts down in gimbal protection mode.
5:05 that filter makes you able to see the bird poop so much clearer.
🤣
Very informative thanks ! Under which conditions did you have to stack together a CPL and a PL from the freewell set simultaneously?
Best freewell filter video I have seen
Thank you!
This is huge !!! What would you recommend in the gym to make it more cinematic and warm
hi, we always use the K&F Concept ND filters.
Great video! The CPL is very handy for fishing videos or anything water or glass related.

During this demonstration did you have your ISO set to Auto or to a fixed value?
Hi I had it set to a fixed 50-200 range.

Glad it was helpful! Yeah the DJI official is enough but for around the same price for this Freewell pack you get a lot more filters!
Is ND filter needed when using auto mode? Because its not that bright then
Hi, you can still use the nd filter as it will the just lower the shutter speed so just be careful
qeustion: do you soot on log? or normal/auto mode?
We normally shoot in auto mode
May I ask if you can only choose one, should you choose the ND filter or ND/PL filter?

I’m in the south I have to use nd64 to expose properly
ND filter on the wire screen walking test gives the blur desired but the overall picture appears to me to be too dark.
So you can stack the nd filters? How many can you stack at once?

The shutter rule is double your frame rate to get correct shutter speed.
25fps = 1/50 sec. shutter speed
120fps = 1/240 sec. shutter speed
.. etc.
Hey yes thats right, that's what I say in the video 👍

do you recommend to buy mega pack or can i just buy the bright day pack

Yes they would work but make sure ots not too dark as youd get a lot of noise in your image

I think what I would be the most uncertain about is knowing which filter to use when you only have the tiny screen to preview on.
Hey Daniel, yes it does make a it a little tricky. It's best to go on the numbers on the EV meter or use the iPhone app to be sure!
