Best sounding carburetor car I used to own was a Mini Clubman S with a Cooper S 1310cc engine! The rebuilt engine replacing the original 1100cc one I had fitted with a rally cam, & as it had for some reason a non-factory manifold having stud-holes which could accept larger 1&1/2" SU twin carbs (fortunately found an odd matching one at a wreckers). After grinding out the manifold to match the carburetor venturis, installing the engine with headers/extractors & straight-thru muffler, & with a bit of trial & error with needles , I had that Mini sounding & performing totally awesome! Was even asked whether it had a V8 in it! It was a full conversion with the disc-brakes, a Rover brake-booster, dual-tanks, in one of the last Aussie Minis to have hydrolastic-suspension (pumped-up, with shocks & adjustable negative-camber arms fitted), running widened rims & rubber!
lol, it is. But this is not the only carburated honda that sounds like a agricultural vehicle. this one also does ruclips.net/video/9tDQ9xizrag/видео.html
aussiebloke609 Indeed it does! More reliable too with the added bonus of a sweeter note. We have a 4.2 Jag straight 6 putting out around 285bhp and 300ib/ft of torque in a 1970 Ford Capri Mk1
And the inline 6 has as much horses as the V12 and just a bit less torque, the V12 actualy is the cheapest E type you can buy because most don't want this version with all it's added trouble and maintenance costs.
You forget the OG carbureted engines, Ford Flatheads... A drag race of hot shop flatheads sounds like a orchestra of engines. I'm gonna go listen to some right now...
7:40 man, that honda growl.... my 1983 185cc 3 wheeler sounded a lot like that......slow to rev, but makes a lot of power while revving so many of the 60s to late 80s honda engines sounded so similar....
My favourite would be the old Mini Cooper S - since the carbs face the bulkhead (rather like the Honda 360), you get plenty of that wonderful induction sound when you drive. :-)
All the BMC FWD's had this arrangement. My Mum had a Wolseley with twin SU's - that throaty suck on snapping open the throttle exiting the corner - beautiful.
In Australia chrysler produced the charger with a 265ci (4.3 litre) inline 6 that was factory fitted with triple webber carbs. Holden produced a 202ci (3.3 litre) inline 6 with triple carbs, both of these engines sound better than anything on this list
eraser216 I love Opel and I agree, they sound amazing. But the cars that first come to our minds, such as the 400s or the Kadett GT/E weren't carbureted. The only sporty versions to be carbureted I think were the Kadett B Rallye, the Commodore GS and, despite not being "sporty", those 327 Chevy powered Diplomats ;) Nice to see other people who like Opel though :D
RickZanardi they used webers on the 400's in rallysport though. But yeah for example, the Rekord sprint, with the 1900s and double carburettor has a unique sound of its own
Noteworthy: the Cosworth YB is distantly related to the 2.3L OHC I4 used in Ford Pintos and Mustangs (basically different branches of the same evolutionary tree). Like the Cosworth, the Pinto/Mustang 2.3L absolutely loves boost and has been seen putting out over 1,000 horsepower with enough of it.
Wow this shows you can make some additional ponies and improve throttle response greatly by adding individual carbs to each cylinders instead of just One carb diverging into 4 manifolds!
Hope there is a part 3 and see some american engines... Actually you could just make that list stand alone. AMC, Ford, Mopar, GM, and many more obscure companies could easily be on that list.
Eletronic fuel injection is harder if you consider the costs and the devices you have to use...but you will get a better tuning in the end compared to a carburetor 0:10
there's a little error at 6:40. that's the 3M engine, not the 3m-ge. G came later for engines whose cylinder head is intended for performance , E means electronic injection
In Australia there was a I6 holden from the 1940's to the late 80's starting at 138ci and ending at 202ci which its similar to the L series and was known as the giant killer as it beat the ford 351ci around bathurst
The early grey motors were different castings and not interchangable with the red/blue/black engines even though they look similar, so you're really talking 64-85 (EH-VK). The VL used the Nissan RB30 and the VN onwards used the Buick V6. Yeah the XU-1 Torries were quick, but a lot of that was power to weight ratio being 300-400 kg lighter than the Falcon GT, also the triples were a bitch to tune and keep tuned, the second they got out of tune the Falcons would just disappear in the distance (same thing with the 6 pack Chargers).
Carbureted car's are very easy to tune easy to maintain and provides better performance But still fuel injection system wins for splendid power delivery
The next video can be the twelve more best sound carbureted engines, I can ensure to you that outside there is a lot more of wonderful creations with orchestras playing in the exhaust
ive always liked the 'chevy power moan" my 77 chevy truck......that 400 small block trying to move the 4200 pounds of truck threw a Q-jet carb...... BAAAWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
also,,,,, my 99 buick century with a 160hp 3.1 v6 sounds SO FUCKING GOOD its all intake noise.... its bark is much worse than its bite..... it sounds like a 6 liter, but has the power of a 2 liter (its got a lot of touruqe however.....its a FULL 160hp)
Carbureted engines sound interesting because the carb does a piss poor job of delivering an accurate and equal fuel mixture to all the cylinders. Especially when they're not brand new. You can keep 'em!
Hey there luddite! Why even bother having an electric fuel pump? Why even bother having a fuel pump at all! Gravity feed is so much more pure! I bet you're the sort of grognard that hates electronic ignition. Carbs and points ignition and drum brakes deserve to be abandoned and forgotten. Furthermore, even when restoring a very old car the piece of shit drum brakes should be thrown in the garbage and replaced with the biggest vented rotor disc brakes possible.
Bit of a stretch with the Honda 360... It's a worn out joke, but that little dude genuinely sounds like lawn and garden equipment.
lol, it is. But this is not the only carburated honda that sounds like a agricultural vehicle. this one also does ruclips.net/video/9tDQ9xizrag/видео.html
2:54 pure eargasm...
Um , your Jag V 12 was the six cylinder version
marc st laurent I just got to that part of the video myself! Was wondering if anyone else had noticed... Lol
Yeah...but not to worry. The straight 6 sounds better than the V12 anyway. :-D
aussiebloke609 Indeed it does! More reliable too with the added bonus of a sweeter note. We have a 4.2 Jag straight 6 putting out around 285bhp and 300ib/ft of torque in a 1970 Ford Capri Mk1
Damn...that's gotta be a tight fit. I remember the old Capri...pretty sure it wasn't designed with a straight 6 in mind. :-D
And the inline 6 has as much horses as the V12 and just a bit less torque, the V12 actualy is the cheapest E type you can buy because most don't want this version with all it's added trouble and maintenance costs.
1:08 Skyline GTR warm up. That is my video from my channel. I took it at the NISMO festival at Fuji Speedway.
Nothing beats the sound of a BDA Ford running twin Webbers.
Exactly right, why show a N/A YB? it was never built to be N/A, at this point it's tuned 16v pinto! The BD engine on carbs sounds so much better.
You forget the OG carbureted engines, Ford Flatheads...
A drag race of hot shop flatheads sounds like a orchestra of engines.
I'm gonna go listen to some right now...
27duuude he did it in the previous video.
7:40 man, that honda growl....
my 1983 185cc 3 wheeler sounded a lot like that......slow to rev, but makes a lot of power while revving
so many of the 60s to late 80s honda engines sounded so similar....
I adore how simple those saab 2 bangers look.
My favourite would be the old Mini Cooper S - since the carbs face the bulkhead (rather like the Honda 360), you get plenty of that wonderful induction sound when you drive. :-)

Love the saab. Love how more and more are making it on the lists
Last time I was this early... My girl wasn't satisfied at all.
I absolutely love the carbureted rotary guys.
440 Six Pack From the list... Cosworth all the way.
From this list I would go with Mazda 13B.
Indy7272 the 13b was the fuel injected model of the two rotor. The 12a was the carbureted two rotor. (Other than the ones listed.)
Idk how you don’t have over 1 million subs, your channel is definitely one of my favorite car channels on RUclips.
BMC B series 1.8 engine sounds really great when properly tuned with a descent exhaust.
i can now die peacefully 5:08 a 2 stroke shooting flames
the Jag V12 sounded really good
TheShoppingCart like a lambo sound but the better jag
Still no Opel engines? they deserve to be on this list! :)
My word, an Ascona/Manta 400 sounds way better than this weird Honda two cylinder for example. Or the Diplomat V8
yeah exactly! but the Diploma V8 isnt that special, thats just a 327 chevy
The 1.3-2.0 8v engines were great
eraser216 I love Opel and I agree, they sound amazing. But the cars that first come to our minds, such as the 400s or the Kadett GT/E weren't carbureted. 8:46 Funny looking v12!
We have been scammed. That's the Jaguar in-line 6 😋
im in love with the cosworth motors at the moment
keep practicing your english. its great progress so far.
The Jaguar video from Fantasy Junction was a straight six Jaguar engine...
ohey a Visioracer video
you should check out the toyota k series engines for some lovely carburetted noises, twin 40 DCOE webers on a worked 4/5k motor sound amazing.
Yes! I love these videos, more please! :D. I can't describe how much I love carberated engines
The S20 is EARGASMIC
Another fantastic video. Thanks man.
I still loving carburated vehicles and nobody gonna change my mind
The sound my Datsun built L 20 B duel mikuni carbs with header pipe makes is pure music .71 510 with 280 z five speed and 280 rear diff .
DONKEYSMELL
Any old v8 from the 60s.
Were is the epic fiat 131 abarth,?????? And alfa romeo also?? This cars have motor with double carburators nearly 90s and have inceadable sound!!!!!!
American V-8’s from the 50’s - 1970 need their own two part list.
Skyline Hakosuka
Wow this shows you can make some additional ponies and improve throttle response greatly by adding individual carbs to each cylinders instead of just One carb diverging into 4 manifolds!
A Weber per cylinder is gods favorite fuel delivery system.
That Saab shooting flames though lol
I could be wrong, but I think it's a flame thrower kit.
Cole Eret night just be running rich. My bike has carburetors and it’ll spit flames at the rev limiter too
Noe Longoria possibly
wes276 yeah it’s possible just it’s funny is all
Adjusted too rich & one way to guzzle fuel without the performance, which is probably why everyone was passing him on the track!
Dude! Volvo B20 for the next video. They really sing when fitted with dual weber carbs. Or the b30 straighr six aswell
Love the stratos. Although I do love me some 2 stroke... And those ford consorts escorts are my weakness
Do a best sounding rally cars video!
Hope there is a part 3 and see some american engines... Actually you could just make that list stand alone. AMC, Ford, Mopar, GM, and many more obscure companies could easily be on that list.
Still no Ford BDA escort RS1600... factory side draft twin DCOE webers.. on of the best sounding engines IMO. You need a part 3
Mentions Cosworth YB converted to N/A, but still no Ford-Cosworth BD series engines in here, which sound glorious!
Im in love with 1967 shelby mustang super snake and lamborghini countach turbo s both carbureted and they have 600+ hp
Eletronic fuel injection is harder if you consider the costs and the devices you have to use...but you will get a better tuning in the end compared to a carburetor 0:10
once set up, cpu tuning is much easier than swapping jets and checking plugs
EFI doesn’t need maintenance/tuning nearly as much though
Leonardo Vargas I'm the guy who can still time a carb engine by ear. No need for a timing light. I also daily a 1975 Ford Maverick on my channel
c20xe! It wasnt carburated from factory but there exist STB kits and it sounds amazing :D
there's a little error at 6:40. that's the 3M engine, not the 3m-ge. G came later for engines whose cylinder head is intended for performance , E means electronic injection
Great channel keep it up
The 200GT is such a badass looking car
The Shelby Cobras from the mid 60s with the 427 is missing. WHY!
next best sounding iron/aluminum block engines xD
In Australia there was a I6 holden from the 1940's to the late 80's starting at 138ci and ending at 202ci which its similar to the L series and was known as the giant killer as it beat the ford 351ci around bathurst

Fiat 128 tuned to run 1/4 mile sounds amazing in my country are very popular and fucking fast
I like the V-12 a lot and that Toyota 2000 GT looks a bit like the Shelby Cobra Daytona coupe
if you pour some extra oil in the fuel you can rev a stock rotary up to 9k no problem :D
Do a video on powerful forced induction engines from factory
Lancia Stratos is #1 on my list of cars I would love to have but will never be able to get.
where the bikes the nighthawk´s 750 4 banger sounds uhhhhh so good and the original h2 2 stroke sounds great too
Dinos engine was also in Strato-Polonez. Check it out! ;)
The Porsche Flat 4 aircooled with 4 cams (from Porsche 356, 550 and 718) need to be here
That is a piece of mechanical art, those 4 can Porsche motors are like swiss watches
Do only the straight 8's in the world!! P.s Chrysler straight 8
kart champions Buick’s had them too
Mike C yes a lot of the cars from the 1940's had them, like I have a 1947 Chrysler New Yorker coupe and that has a straight 8
kart champions I'm sure there is already a video about straight 8's on his channel, have a look and you will find it ;)
Carbureted car's are very easy to tune easy to maintain and provides better performance
But still fuel injection system wins for splendid power delivery
The next video can be the twelve more best sound carbureted engines, I can ensure to you that outside there is a lot more of wonderful creations with orchestras playing in the exhaust
I have a 240z with triple 44 carbs, something about it man
cool.
4.43 Sounds like Mercury Marine's carbureted 90 HP 2 stroke which is inline 3
ive always liked the 'chevy power moan"
my 77 chevy truck......that 400 small block trying to move the 4200 pounds of truck threw a Q-jet carb...... BAAAWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
also,,,,, my 99 buick century with a 160hp 3.1 v6 sounds SO FUCKING GOOD

its bark is much worse than its bite..... it sounds like a 6 liter, but has the power of a 2 liter (its got a lot of touruqe however.....its a FULL 160hp)
The Stratos at 4:01 is a kitcar/replica with an Alfa V6. It sounds nothing like the Ferrari V6.
Sounds better than Ferrari engine and its faster...
Heresy
The lovely L28
9:00 the jaguar 5.3 V12, making exhaust crackles when it was cool.
shame about DSG farts these days and overly rich vauxhall corsas
the jag showed a 6 cyl
Make video with best handling cars to 15k euro. Please :D
Wasnt Dino v6 built by enzo after tragic death of his son?!
Tuco Yes it was.
Dino gave the information to build it prior to his death
I've seen this lady before! She was smiling near subway
An aircooled Volkswagen with Webers. You cant listen to vertical mount webers dump fuel any better for any cheaper
Carbureted engines sound interesting because the carb does a piss poor job of delivering an accurate and equal fuel mixture to all the cylinders. Especially when they're not brand new. You can keep 'em!
piss poor? for what they are, they work well. please tell me why most people need a computer controlled car just to go down to the shops.
Furthermore, even when restoring a very old car the piece of shit drum brakes should be thrown in the garbage and replaced with the biggest vented rotor disc brakes possible.
aww waaahh, what a little bitch you are. good thing the world doesnt run on your opinion.
A 700cc thrash right after the hakosuka. Europe everybody, just europe.
dat Lancia V4 doe....😄
Nissan L28? especially the twin turbo?
I wonder what a carbureted V10 would sound like
Braaaaap Braaaap BRAAAAAAAP
Best sounding Carb engine of all time:
Honda S600
Honda S800
It's just a fact.
Jay Leno says his own SM600 is one of the best sounding cars on Earth.
Logλn L lol it's an inline 4, they sound like vacuum cleaners. The E-type on this video sounded better than any inline 4 out there.
robertdevald
If your vacuum cleaner sounds like this:
ruclips.net/video/k9WvY9kyw0w/видео.html
It might be qualified to enter the Grand Prix.
Logλn L Yup, seen that video already. My vacuum is pretty close.
Toyota 4A GE?
TheJean590 ikr but maybe the part 1
those are always fuel injected, the 'E' stands for fuel injection
Edit: the 3M-GE mentioned is a mistake as a 3MGE never existed
It's in the first video because many people swapped them to carburetors
Those have EFI. The AE85 was carbureted though I believe
did you read what I wrote?
Best sound is wankel sound :D
That nissan 2 litre....fwoar. that's sounds good.
would it be a bad idea to put carburetors on my vtec b18?
Catt JUST DO IT !!!😬😬
would be fucking sweet.
12 rpm? I know it's 12,000 rpm but it'd be funny is someone asked " how high that thing rev?" " 12!" Lol
The s20 didn't have Webber carbs it had Mikuni ones
why some diesel engines used to have spark plugs back then????
Lancia Stratos rally ❤
ITB or carburetor?
In this video, we see a first gen Rx7 being cornered the only correct way...
Alhamdulillah :)
Carburetor or IGT?
Is there something wrong with the way carbed V8s sound?
2:39 Four* :)
Ford Cosworth DFV!
Where's the Cleon-Fonte?
No Opel?
No alfa...??
7:54 it sounds like my weed eater
