Many have asked what the blue PC stickers mean: They stand for "Perpetual Care," which means additional funds have been placed in an endowment for the perpetual care and maintenance of the gravesite. And quick corrections: Ed Wood was released in '94, not '90. And Bert Lahr won a Tony for "Foxy," not "Roxy."
Hollywood Graveyard was literally about to ask the same question lol! You will have to do a special for Stan lee!! Mr marvel himself ❤️
I Love It So Much And Also Love Your Voice Too.
Such a great man was Martin Landau!! So glad that I got to see his grave in this video!! Thanks for that!! Also is there going to be another part of the New York series?
Thank You So Much My Heart Was Rising Up
Thank you for that answer
Up until her death I used to see Mae West being driven by chauffeured limo with out blackened windows so that everyone could see her sitting in the back. I guess it was her way of letting everyone know she was still alive and kicking with her beauty still intact. She was quite a character. I loved her bravado.
I’m a person who enjoys walking thru old cemeteries. Love the history.

Me !
I always do cause I've never regretted it!
“Try and get lost, after all that’s the best way to get somewhere you’ve never been.”
I like that. Very philosophical.
Mae West's one liners were just... Golden.
I have really bad anxiety and I use these videos to fall asleep. Before you attack, it’s not because they are boring. They are incredibly amazing and relaxing. The information and music soothe me. ❤️👏🏼
Me too
His voice is very soothing
No need to go bananas, Bananas. These type of videos don't a-peel to everyone, though I can watch a bunch at a time. So relax, and hang loose
I thought i was the only one.. i fall asleep watching his videos cuz they are really soothing to watch.. sometimes, i dream of those late actors
LIFE...*
Mae West was so ahead of her time and it amazes me how much she got away with in the golden age of censorship. Crazy to think she only made a total of twelve films in her career yet she achieved that level of an unforgettable icon. Thank you for paying her a visit.
She was also 4'11", wore platform shoes, I've always loved Mae, since I was a child & I'm 60, I would watch all her movies, anything she was starring in or making an appearance in, great lady
She added very racy lines n they would let some slip
She was a genius that mastered the art of telling a joke with a double entendre meaning.
She couldn't stand W.C. Fields.... I think he was trying to"upstage" her but they were wonderful in My Little Chickadee,.... hilarious 😂
Rest In Peace, Louis Armstrong!!!! A True Founding Father of Modern American Music who will never be forgotten!!!!
And we think of Louis as a trumpeter, but more importantly his phrasing is the foundation of all modern singing. All the great singers point to Pops as the guy who started it all and was their inspiration.
With all the flags you’d think he was a war hero!! Didn’t see any flags like that On any others
He was my father's best friend, my son interviewed my mom in grade school for a paper he wrote about Louie Armstrong. He came to family functions, my parents went to dinner w him, all kinds of things. His music is beautiful to my ears bc you know, it is..a wonderful world
My son met Mr. Gotti when they were both having treatments for cancer. My son introduced himself and so did Mr. Gotti. Then they talked about their cancerand Mr. Gotti was led away. My son thought that was too awesome. He died in 1997, a week after his 25th birthday.
My deepest sympathy...
🙏❤️
So sorry for your loss. Blessings to you.

Mae West's one-liners are legendary.Tony has spoken.
Mae West, lived a good life! Her one liners are legendary! "It's not the men in my life; it's the life in my men!"😅 No one can say that but her! Arthur, I can't believe that I enjoyed your tours! 👍🎬👍
Mae West was actually quite a talent. She wrote all of the scripts to her motion pictures.
She couldn't stand W.C. Fields but my favorite movie is My Little Chickadee....Why don't you come up and see me sometime
Mae West was an incredible woman. She wrote movies, plays, and books, recorded a few albums, and was heavy into real estate. She was still very wealthy till the day she died, God bless her soul.
Omg! You found the cowedly lion! I'm so happy! It's even got a cute little lion there!
I was there in 2014 and I swear that same lion was there then.
That lion 🦁 costume went for big money 💰 a few years back. All the Oz stuff including the recently recovered ruby slippers are highly collectible.
I've said it before, Arthur, but you really are at the top of your game. The amount of research and preparation that go into producing these videos is immense, and you knock it out of the park every time. First LA, now New York. I cannot wait to see where you take us next. Thank you.
Great as always! Little side trivia about Houdini. He gave this little kid, Joseph Frank Keaton a nickname when the kid fell down the stairs and laughed. He dubbed him Buster. Buster Keaton.
Interesting.
Sebastian Smith But not “thee” Buster Keaton. Harry Houdini had no children.
@@dircia7754 He was friends with Buster Keaton's parents. He was over at their house and "Buster" fell down the stairs and laughed. Houdini laughed and said, "That's a Buster."
If this is true , WOW !

I drove Martin Landau to a movie premiere when I was a limo driver in LA. I picked him up from a high rise office building on Wilshire. I actually had to go up to his office to get him. He was working at a talent agency. They must have been doing some kind of casting because there were a gaggle of beautiful women in the lobby. I told the receptionist I was there to pick up him up and a few minutes later out he comes. He had a patch on his his eye and wouldn't shake my hand because he didn't want to give me pink eye, or whatever kind of infection he had. We rode down the elevator together. I thought holy crap I am in an elevator with Martin Landau. We got into the limo then I couldn't get the damn limo out of the parking garage. He was really cool about it. After a few minutes I finally was able to get the boat-ish 10 passenger stretch out of the parking garage and I dropped him off at a theater somewhere in Westwood. I picked him up and took him back to the his office. He shook my hand and gave me 20 bucks, and asked for my business card, which I thought was kind of cool. Nice, down to earth guy.
Thats SO cool
@S Macca Don't forget "Pork Chop Hill," "North By Northwest," and "Mission Impossible."
You know, one hears so much trash about celebrities, how high & mighty etc. they behave, it's refreshing to hear that someone NICE, treated someone NICELY.
I love Arthur Dark's channel. At first, i thought that all cemetaries were dark and gloomy but the celeb's final resting places were quite beautiful. Keep up the good work, Arthur.
I'm from New York City and I always wondered where famous people were buried here. Amazingly, I passed the grave of Dom DeLuise only feet away on my way to work every day and didn't know I just had to stop on the outside of the fence. Thanks to this video I saw his tombstone today and I didn't even have to go inside the cemetery. I have always been creeped out by cemeteries. That's why I've never gone in there. These videos take me in there in my own city. Thanks man for this. I mean it.
Can't believe you made it here! I live a block away from Cypress Hills where Mae West is resting. I always love exploring all the cemeteries around here and this was even more eye opening. Thank you Arthur!!
Dom deluise .. Amazing and funny ... I was his personal chef at universal Studios while he was filming a remake of the show candid camera and his son was filming 21 Jump Street... back in very early 90’s ... I remember he had this phone with many push buttons with all of them lite up with calls... But when It was time to eat it just just a push of one button and all the lights went dark ... lol He would invite you or who ever was with you to sit and eat... we became beautiful friends such Beautiful soul and amazing stories of his life.... R.I.P my friend 💛
A class act
Wow thanks for sharing that. I certainly appreciated it.
That's awesome!! Dom was a great funnyman...I remember back in the 70's his friendship with Burt Reynolds, and the Great Johnny Carson. I had one episode of Johnny recorded when Burt, and Dom were both on Carson, and they all 3 were in tears they were laughing so hard....
Thank you for sharing your memories with Dom I loved his sense of humor
I like his performance as FAGIN
My best memory of Mae West is her work with the Three Stooges!! I find it adorable when Larry, Moe, and Curly always had to bite their hands whenever she says, "Why don't you come up and see me some time."
I was born and raised Catholic but I find it so hypocritical that the church permits these lavish monuments to criminals who were known to kill and damage so many lives.
Mango891 As a fellow Catholic, you should know those donations go a long way to make people overlook certain things....
I was once as well. The history of the RC Church is reprehensible. Totally hypocritical!
Which religion isn't?
That's Catholicism for ya
Maybe that's why cremation is the way to go. No ugly muss or fuss with the bones being strewn about to upset the survivors. Just pour out the ashes on the ground, in a stream, into the ocean or keep in the freezer. I've never heard of such revengeful doings. It certainly isn't in the guide books of Eire.
It's hard to put into words but this one was moving in a somber kinda way . The way the trees and moss and the old and majestic headstones reveal them selves as you walk by . Even in death we are never alone nor forgotten.
I never want your videos to end. They are so interesting.
Love Mae West. My kind of woman!
Yep. Everyone copies that little bounce she did with her hip. Sexy.
Vanessa,
F.Y.I.: Ms. West enjoyed and indulged in weekly enemas, which she so passionately gave herself. Perhaps this is why she retained her beauty and was so EVER lively and energetic. THANK YOU Ms.West for gracing our lives on and off the screen. May your loving and passionate soul forever rest in eternal peace in God's eternal kingdom. You will be forever missed and never forgotten.
I agree. My name is. Vanessa. Too i was named after. Vanessa. Grave.

Martin Landau, most beloved by myself and other fans of the '70's series, "Space: 1999". My all time favourite show and major influence on my life.
So sad about Bess Houdini not being allowed to be buried with Harry Houdini :(
Veronica Panella Shame we were not able to view her grave in this video as well, would have been a nice touch. I wish they were together in fact as well, but take comfort that in the world beyond, petty differences are overcome.
Harry Houdini was Jewish and his Wife was Catholic so his wife could't be buried in a Jewish cemetery as a result
It is what it is
@@MommaWolf1967 Yes. I know. I know a little bit about the Houdinis. I have a documentary and movie about them in my DVD collection. It just is that interfaith couples now have more options than when Bess died.
Brittany Rozenberg Hollander Not quite so simple. This was a decision made by Bess Houdini’s family not to have her buried with him because of the religious differences. To my knowledge, there has never been a Catholic decree on mixed faith burials and I do not believe there is one on the Jewish side. Basically, family used religion as an excuse. Why I stated that love transcends the petty concerns of mere mortals.
No hard feelings, just it makes me angry given how much they loved each other.
Andy k' Elvis is great
Although a particular show was not mentioned, Martin Landau will be best remembered to me when he played Commander John Koenig in the 2 season series of Space:1999. Loved his leadership in the show and I still watch it today. Loved the special effects especially the Eagles spacecraft.
As a Brooklyn resident I respect the fact that you take your time to come to New York and do these documentaries, so respect for your sir🙏🏻
That was great! I visited the wonderful Miss Mae West about 12 years ago. It was a real honor.
I also saw Victor Moore’s crypt. He was in Mae West’s last black & white movie, made for Columbia Pictures, “The Heat’s On”. Thanks for the tour! 🥂
I must confess! When I first came across this series, by accident I may add, I was convinced that it was going to be just another morbid almost voyeuristic journey down cemetery lane, but I must say, not only was I wrong in my assumption, but the whole format is done in a highly respectable manner to those lost souls of the silver screen, and the narrative is highly defined and informative which in turn makes for a highly absorbing series.
Martin Landau won best supporting actor fir his role in the film “Ed Wood”
RIP Louis Armstrong and Andy Kaufman!
Thank you for what you do, I started watching when my nana died last year and I feel I sense of closure while watching you show the dead such respect. I again thank you and hope you keep on doing what you are doing
I know what u mean I feel the same way. My Dad passed away in April of this year I just came across these videos not long after my Dad passed away He was a World War 2 Veteran a great Dad. I remember bring little and watching scary movies on tv and he would tell me oh don't be afraid of the dead its the LIVE WEIRDOS THAT ARE THE SCARY ONES!! AND THEN HE WOULD LAUGH!! I REALLY MISS HIM!
It's weird knowing that Lucky Luciano, Vito Genovese, Carlo Gambino, and John Gotti are all laid to rest within a stone's throw of each other.
Great job man. Lol as morbid as this is, its fascinating and I really hope you get to do things for major networks in some sort of capacity very soon. You put your heart into this and its shows. Awesome production 👍🏿.
Thank you for posting this; I'm glad Bo Jangles has a beautiful marker he was such a great talent. I wanted to view Mae's resting place and was heartened to see she's with her family, we are fortunate to have her body of work to enjoy. It's a privilege to visit these places where otherwise I wouldn't be able to undertake the experience.

I absolutely LOVE your videos. I wish all future videos could be as long ( or longer) like this new one. Maybe I'm an oddball , but I never thought that it's "morbid" to show an interest in the dead. The deceased had lives with histories and stories. They should not be forgotten. You make that possible Mr Dark, along with your crew and Giuseppe's wonderful music. I hope you come back to New York again.
So glad I stumbled on this show. Its always nice to go down memory lane listening to Arthurs soothing voice. I especially enjoy the music and movie clips. Would love to visit some of these cemeteries especially the old ones. Thank you Arthur if you happen to see this.
the godfather of graves ladies and gents has posted yet another masterpiece
Thank you so much for giving me a chance to "visit" your graveyards, something I always wanted to do. I became an avid fan of classic cinema courtesy of many evenings spent with my dad while I was in high school and college. We forget how much of our lives and loves were influenced by the early pioneers of entertainment, industry, media, etc. Saddest part was that Houdini's beloved wife was not "permitted" by her family to be buried with her husband because it was a Jewish cemetary. What touched me the most was seeing the many stones placed on tombstones, showing to all how much those people touched the lives of others. Thank you again.
In 2019 we went to a movie theater to see a showing of the movie, Hello Dolly. It was the 50th anniversary of the movie. When Louie Armstrong (Satchmo) came on the screen, everyone in the movie stood up and applauded. Not too bad receiving a standing ovation 50 years later. BTW-the theater was filled to capacity. It was a nice time and he was great musician🎺❤️
I absolutely love this! Thank you. I’m a Londoner and have explored all the Victorian London graveyards and Pere Lechaise, Staglieno (Genova), war graves from Belgium to Singapore etc. Such history, such opportunity to meet the famous.......learn about the human condition, beliefs, art and tranquillity. I though American graveyards were dull until seeing your tour. Grazie tanto!

I liked video 1 and now 2 of New York's Cemeteries. I was visiting a cemetery in Oneida, NY, and the tombstones and various cut stone, dated back to 1690 up to 2004 (when I visited there). I loved it! Kinda sad to see Monty Cliff, buried in a cemetery that hardly anyone knows it's there. Because of his mother who was a Quaker. To bad he never left a will or a wish. I loved him in Red River. Thank you for the tour, it was great. The first video was fall, and it is really beautiful in New York during the fall.
He belonged to his family before the public. In life many seek fame but in death they belong to family and God.
Wow! Mae West was a true trailblazer!

I had memories of many stars. In case of Satchmo, I sang "What A Wonderful World" by phone to my girlfriend as a birthday gift to her recently. In case of Landau, I watched him in a TV series called "Alpha Moonbase" with Barbara Bain and Barry Morse in the cast. Greets from Peru and congratulations for your New York graveyards tour...
Thank your for the extended tribute to Bernard Herrmann, a great artist.

By far, one of the most intriguing in your series of videos. I used to pass the Queens cemeteries on the L.I. Expressway and marvel at the millions of stones. Thank you for pointing out some of the more desired to be identified plots. No one would otherwise undertake such a trip! Fascinating!

Despite earning millions during his lifetime, Robinson died poor in 1949, at the age of 71. Much of his wealth went to charities in Harlem and beyond before his death. Robinson's funeral, arranged by longtime friend and television host Ed Sullivan, was held at the 369th Infantry Regiment Armory and attended by thousands, including many stars from the entertainment industry. A eulogy by Adam Clayton Powell Sr. (father of Congressman Adam Clayton Powell Jr.) was broadcast over the radio. Robinson was buried in the Cemetery of the Evergreens in Brooklyn, New York. Thank you for making it so enjoyable to go to graveyards! Knew it would be great before I saw it! Please never stop. Thanks again. Never lose that voice!!!!..
Thanks for doing this in the rain. 👍
These old cemeteries. . .sooooo beautiful.
No mention of the Mae West vest? "A dame that knows the ropes isn't likely to get tied up."
Can we one day have a criminal grave tour? Maybe next Halloween? That was so interesting.
Hi Arthur! Thanks for this new video! Hope you're doing well!
This guy is so good at doing this. Everyday I eat lunch, I watch his channel. Even if I have seen it 100 times. This guy needs to be on travel channel.
I do enjoy your tours very much. In Oldham England we have a church in the town where in the 1800s they buried people in tombs. You can visit and I did a while back. There is a man buried there in the open as you can view the coffins called the giant of Oldham he was an abnormally sized person all those years back and would also be now since he was very tall and wide. I have a video on my channel if you would like to see it of a tour I stumbled on one day. Anyhow keep up the good work, people say it’s morbid looking at the graves of the dead but I say well the very fact they place a headstone there is for people to read and remember. It’s a little off topic but in Oldham we have people buried there that fought and died in the American civil war so those graves are very interesting
Ask again Love. I love them to not far from you in Manchester
Where is it in Oldham ?
It's ok I have found it Oldham Church and watched your tour you were lucky I didn't know they did tours thanks for sharing xx
Hey everyone who has commented. If you are local to Oldham I would highly recommend going to look I believe the tours are every second Saturday of the month. We got a special tour in my video because the church has some Australian visitors who had visited the town. I assumed they just have had ancestors from Oldham. Also if you like graveyards a good one and a very interesting one in Oldham is greenacres cemetery that’s where the American civil war fighters are buried. If anyone wants I can do a video tour and post of some of the spectacular graves there just let me know.
Rosa -F hi the crypt is at oldham church tours every second Saturday of the month also civil war graves at greenacres cemetery
Jackie Robinson Day in Chicago is always amazing.
Great video can’t wait until the next part you almost scared us without an update until today thanks for all that you do not only educating us about the cemetery’s, you entertain the people that came before us and for that thank you :)
