  • Welcome to Hollywood Graveyard, where we set out to remember and celebrate the lives of those who lived to entertain us, by visiting their final resting places. Today we’re back in New York, to find such stars as Gilbert Gottfried, Scott Joplin, Carl Sagan, Cicely Tyson, and many more
Full list of stars visited today: Paul Jabara, Roger Carmel, Albert & Harry von Tilzer, Betty Comden, Edward G. Robinson, Jack Gilford, Marvin Hamlisch, Patsy Kelly, Joe Spinell, Scott Joplin, James Montgomery Flagg, Harry Carey, Johnny Marks, Louise Henry, Diahann Carroll, Cicely Tyson, Jackie McLean, Norma Miller, Clarice Taylor, Nora Bayes, Victor Herbert, FW Woolworth, Barbara Hutton, James Bailey, Geraldine FItzgerald, George McManus, Bud Fischer, Barbara Britton, Dorothy Loudon, Al Hirschfeld, Florence Reed, Blanche Yurka, Vivian Blaine, Gloria Foster, Gilbert Gottfried, Harriet Tubman, Carl Sagan.
Dedicated to the memory of William Zattara, who was a good friend who assisted me with several Hollywood Graveyard videos. Most notably, he was my right hand man for the original New York series back in 2019. He and I strolled through New York cemeteries together for a week, gathering footage for those videos.

Growing up in Cypress Hills, Brooklyn, in the 60s and 70s, the local cemeteries were a favorite hangout since they were some of the few green areas. I could take you right to Jackie Robinson’s grave, and then worked summers during high school with my uncle at Machpelah Cemetery where Houdini is buried. I guess that’s why I love these videos so much. Keep up the great work!

Dear Arthur glad you came back to New York and unveiled more people buried here. I’m a regular visitor to Greenwood and Woodlawn Cemetery and one of the security guards there told me about Diahann Carroll being interred back in 2020. It just goes to show you that cemeteries aren’t static but are just as part of the living as they are of the dead. I just hope Cicely Tyson gets also gets a marker. I saw her last Broadway Performance The Gin Game with the GREAT James Earl Jones. That was an amazing performance seeing these two in their 80s STILL knocking it out. If I could go back in time it would be to 2016 to see them perform ONE more time. And man she could cuss!
PS sorry about your friend. This made this particular edition of HG poignant.

Gilbert Gottfried! Most memorable as voice actor for Iago the parrot in the Disney Aladdin films and TV series as well as the mischievous imp Mr. Myxtlk (pardon the misspelling) in the 90s Superman animated series. Dearly loved, missed and remembered. There is also a recent RUclips video of Jay Leno attempting to unsuccessfully give poor Gilbert driving lessons. Gilbert Gottfried was an extremely talented comedic genius and will be missed. Ditto for Roger C. Carmel.

As a fan who's about to turn 75 in a couple of hours, I seem to have lived longer than perhaps 2/3rds of the folks we've visited during this (as always) superb video. Of course advances in medical science have something to do with that! (And genetics!) By the way, I was delighted to see the raptor you featured in the beginning of the video--I think it's a juvenile hawk. It is typical of juvie raptors to make those amusing head movements. The peregrine falcon in my thumbnail is Gracie, named after Gracie Allen. Her mate was, of course, named George. They nested on top of a building where I worked in downtown San Francisco. But like a typical old person, I digress...

Thank you 🙏😊 your content is much welcomed, it's akin to visiting forgotten familiar faces. Some may find graveyard hopping morbid, your uploads are anything but. They remind me how many talented souls pass through and touch us - like everyone, they continue into time and their own destinies. But for a time their gifts brought joy, assistance and unique contributions to many 🌻

One person I would have suggested covering is the grave of Archibald Gracie IV.
Not only did he write his own history of the Battle of Chickamauga (a battle that his father - Archibald Gracie III - fought in as a Brigadier General in the Confederate Army), he was a survivor of the sinking of the RMS Titanic; writing one of the earliest detailed accounts of the sinking. The sinking led to a sharp decline in his health where he became one of the first Titanic survivors to die.

Right On Arthur! What a Fun and Welcoming Tour! From the get go we were shown a Fabulous and Beautiful Gateway to enter through for what was to come, then came the surprise of a Cool looking Raptor Bird making his own Dancing Moves. Hilarious! I’m always Amazed at the collective choices of Interesting People you choose to share with us, like the Songwriters and Composers of Jazz to the Actors and Singers and Swingers of Dance! We had Famous Business Entrepreneur of Stores to one of the Circus World! We had a Incredible Artists that made his famous Black and White Caricatures of other famous People Including himself! You ended with a Fave of Mine a Man of Space Mr. Sagan reminding us we are all made of Stars and are Stars in our own right! You had to take us there and what a Image of you Jumping In that pile of Leaves with no evidence except in our own Minds! The Cemeteries were Beautiful to see and visit in this Autumnal Season of Fall! It was a Great Escape! Thanks again Arthur! You did it again! Loved it! 😉🍁🖤

After seeing this episode, I looked up the artwork of Al Hirschfeld. There is a book with many of his drawings.
    Did I purchase it?
    Yes...yes I did.
    It's wonderful.

There are a number of reasons I appreciate your videos, one being keeping memories alive, but you show that no matter how famous one might get, we all end up a name on a slab... That might sound harsh, but I dont mean it that way... that in the end, we all end up in the same place.
But it is the fact you keep the memories of those who passed alive I greatly respect and love. You are doing a service I wish more knew about. If ever you come back to Louisville, I would love to spend a day with you as I used to take cemetery tours in the country with my grandparents.

@@scottspencer4603 Happy Thanksgiving Scott, yes, my favorite riff on Andy Griffith was a SCTV Special where Merv Griffin (Rick Moranis) was substituted for Andy Griffith. John Candy was Otis the drunk, Catherine O’Hara was Aunt Bea, Joe Flarity was Barney Fife, and Eugene Levy did a hilarious and creepy impersonation of Floyd the Barber. Betca can’t watch just once.
