Apart from a silly audience incident this is the best performance of the 4th I have heard. The musicians' composure was exemplary in the incident and resumed the quartet without the arch and chorale structure being tarnished.
Many say that Vasks can be long winded but in fact no notes are wasted and concentration pays dividends when one gets into the world of the pure sound.
Hearing SQ 4 makes the 'cello concerto easier to follow at one's first hearing of the large work.
