I am so happy that I stumbled across this. I love the piece. Thanks. All of you did a great job. Also honored to be the 57th "like" as my 57th year on this planet concludes in a few days, not to mention I got to post the first comment... Thanks again, as I hope your music careers take you to incredible places.

You are very good and Vasks is really brilliant. My choir sang "Pater Noster" during one of our last performances. Write this in the search: you will love it for sure!

So much glorious music in the world that one may never hear. Due to tangential sheet music search, I came across Pēteris Vasks, listened to Ad Pacem Cantus and now this stunning and enticing performance. The musical and physical demands Vasks places on the individuals and the ensemble to learn his particular tonal vocabulary, rhythmic asynchrony and sudden cadences must have propelled them to ever deeper searches of the repertoire for strings. Vasks needs as much attention as his String Quartet No. 3 requires and exacts from its audience.

Great performance! FYI: This was arranged for string orchestra as "Musica adventus" - I think the string quartet and string orchestra versions both have their own charm

A discovery you probably do not find in the concert hall.

I understand why some people like this, but it's too much like Pärt for my taste. Retro and repetitious.

What's wrong with being like Pärt ? Glass is like Riley; Schubert like Mozart or vice versa.

@@thevelvis I know this was a while ago, I thik they'd just say they don't like Pärt either. Now, I know this simply to be untrue - Pärt's music is just the greatest ever, and to be similar to him is to be similar to God's perfect divine music. /jk

@@thevelvis Also, I would say this is very different from Pärt; Vasks tries to evoke Latvian folk music in a rather abstract way, while Pärt derives his ideas more from medieval music. Maybe there's some commonality with the minimal use of material, but that's true for other so-called "minimalists" as well. I can't really find a lot of similarity otherwise

Its true this kicks ass, as does Pärt so they have that in common.
