A deeply intensive and inspiring composition. Brilliantly played here, with feeling.
I was there for that concert and it was mind blowing. I'm so glad to be able to relive the experience again with this video. Thank you!
remarkable quartet! all that emotion concentrated in four instruments!
Ms. Chen is a beauty.
Deeply moving performance of this masterpiece. Hat off to you ! Thanks for posting and regards from France.
I love the passion in this performance
Wow, this is a haunting and a excellently crafted piece of music, some of the thematic elements invoke Gothicism on both the subconscious and conscious levels. Thanks for sharing this magnificent and passionate performance. Thank you!

I actually think reminiscences are twofold :
- Middle Age music with very identifiable chords
- Popular 16th-17th Continental Europe popular music with "continuous bass" - like ostinato
Thanks for your comment and regards from France :o)
Bertrand Jacques
Thanks for your erudite observations, I'll use them as impetus for further, future investigation. Cheers (from Poland) :)
bentonpreciado, I envy you for actually being there.
Excellent composition, superb performance.
This isn't music background music while one is busy doing other things. This demands one's undivided attention!
I wish those who gave this piece thumbs down would explain. Was it the disharmony?
They just can´t see - or hear - the beauty!
Precisely ecstatic mode!!!!!!
Masterpiece
Брависсимо!!! Спасибо всем.
Many reminiscences of "Episodi e canto perpetuo" in this quartet
Composition excellent rich in harmony and musical creativity
Stupendo :'(
masterpiece by Latvian composer Vasks
rare piece
Ah man why did the audience have to yell in the middle? was hoping to add this to my quartet playlist but it's gonna scare me every time x_x
Could flute substitute for vn.?
I’m trying to find a recording of this piece, but it doesn’t seem to come up on various music apps. Has no one recorded it, or I just can’t search correctly?
i found it on spotify
The Grates composer
It sounds very dry, like the room didn't have any reverberation...
Keanu Reeves is a talented viola player!
i see
los que dieron el pulgar hacia abajo , no tenían el oído enfermo ,el ruido es infernal
Super performance. Ghastly sound (too low bitrate on the audio)
Peen: "Bummer."
Brain: "Told you she's not naked."
tan af
Correct me If im wrong but It seems that the girl playing the violin has got armpit hair.. well its okay tho
+ramil ibanez Nah, it's just the way the shadows make it look. Check 11:04, for a counterexample.
Pause the video at 9:02. No armpit hair. You're just seeing shadow.
@@yowzephyr yes it is shadow
come on Ramil, someone who takes that much care of her appearance simply would NOT be so hideous!
poor Ramil !, you have to buy glasses. Important: do you like music?
(sorry I don't speak english very well)
