    The most meaningful long term test of Paint Protection Films is right here on Scott’s. Channel. You have exposed the self -healing properties as being short lived on ALL these films. Another exaggerated marketing claim that is now debunked!
    When you decide to end this test it would be interesting to expose the films to a barrage of pebbles and rock chips to see how each film protects the paint from the impact. For consumers protection from pebbles and small rocks is a top priority when choosing which film to apply to a vehicle.

    Great test Scott I love all of your product reviews. The only thing I wonder about is the chemical resistance test affecting the self-healing properties. I don't really care about how they bead up because we can just put a coating on them. But the self-healing property to me is a huge selling point and I wonder if the egg test or anything else affected it.

    Again, another great video Scott, thank you. My Porsche 718 Spyder will arrive in three weeks and I am already booked for my PPF using Solar Gard Clearshield Pro Hydro. Have you heard of Solar Gard PPF Scott?

    Love the videos, I keep my car in a garage. I wonder if that would make a big difference in the performance of the film you are testing.

  • @Spaztikulous

    Is there a way you could do a similar test on edges being wrapped and how well all the films hold up from an adhesive standpoint? Also would be curious to see a test surrounding how they hold up to actual rock penetration? Maybe at the end of all tests, taking this hood down a gravel road being dragged behind - and then seeing which ones have more holes? Just an idea

    • @ScottHD
      @ScottHD  3 года назад +3

      Great suggestion! I can probably make that happen. All of these films except hexis have the edges wrapped, so when we get to the end we will pull them up.

    Super test. Thanks a lot. For sure on a daily driver normally looked after, the films would last longer and yellow less quick. Especially if coated with some UV protecting wax / hybrid ceramic spray or quick detailer.
    They all seem to do quite well in fact, although I have a preference for STEK and XPEL Ultimate +

    • @MultiSuryansh

      Same, which one did you finally decide to go with?

    • @micsub
      @micsub 2 года назад

      @@MultiSuryansh Finally I went for Hexis Bodyfence, very happy with it. Hydrophobic properties are great. Easy to dry the car after washing it. Clarity is great, can't see it on the car unless you look at it closely. Yellowing to be monitored with time. 5 year guarantee, so we will see.
      It's been on the car for a few months now, but not having received anything near to the abuse in Scott's tests ofcourse.
      Xpel ultimate with it's orange peel aspect put me off. STEK could have been a choice if it hadn't been an availability issue in my place.

    • @MultiSuryansh

    • @ScottHD
      @ScottHD  3 года назад +1

      A spray sealant/coating or a ceramic coating should be ok to use. Some waxes may cause cloudiness. You would have to do a test spot like on a lower bumper or so to see how it would react.

  • @Pure3nrg

    Too bad you didn't try Stek DynoCarbon, Black, etc. That PPF is so different, maybe a new test? I don't know who else does tinted/colored PPF besides STEK.

      Absolutely. You can lightly polish PPF to get some scratches out. It doesn't always work perfectly in our experience, but some will polish out better than others

    I hate the fact that you don't always give out your own verdict. Like at the end of this video no verdict, no ranking from you on the films and their performance. Video can never replace direct eyesight/vision... So your own verdict/ranking means a lot to us.

  • @MrRoskoPeko

    Wow, they all performed pretty poorly at 1 year, I thought most had a 10year guarantee. Both self healing and hydrophobic properties are all but gone and the clarity on some are just awful.

      @@ScottHD I have Xpel on my hood and bumper and honestly, if I saw this test beforehand, I would have tried to scope out a Flexishield installer to save some money. Seems like the best value out of the bunch, and there really isn't that huge a difference between the two.

    • @hernanicavinato7232
      @hernanicavinato7232 3 года назад +1

      @@peteyification I like the shine in the beginning of flexishield... in therms of price... xpel is more expensive than flexi... but here in Brazil we dont have flexi to buy...
      We have kavaca, steck, bodyfence, xpel, 3m.

    • @ScottHD
      @ScottHD  3 года назад +3

      Flexishield, from an installer standpoint, it has a less agressive adhesive. (Doesn't affect you as a retail customer, but it may have issues later down the road from edges lifting, etc...that would be the big weak spot if I had to point one out)
