When the PPF has reached the end of its life cycle, what will the paint look like when the PPF is removed? It seems like the adhesive would affect the finish after years of being baked on by the sun.
I believe if the entire car is covered, it'll be okay once removed. If you have a partial hood done or something, the UV damage on uncovered paint will be noticable when removed.

@lewislevits1193 thanks for the tip. Makes sense. To me Ceramic Coating sounds better. I drive my car everyday, I can avoid some things but wear is gonna happen. I think it’s easier and cheaper for touch ups vs re wrapping.

In short it's like applying window tint film to a the body instead of glass. Same basic principals and tools. Soapy water, squeegees, bone tools, olfa knife etc. Float the film on clean surface and squeegee out all air and liquid to insure a crystal clear bond and let it dry out. Would you still recommend this for my car? I am moving and will not have a garage. I want to keep my car as long as I can. Thank you for your response.
Will it leave a residue when you peel it off after few years? Does it turn yellowish under long exposure under the strong sun. We are talking about 33 deg C daily.
vinyls like this the residue left easily comes off with warm water and a towel and they dont yellow these arent cheap iphone cases from china plastics they have a clearcoat like your car does to stop any sun uv damage oxidation damage etc.
Great stuff. But this video is 3 years old. I got quoted for a 2024 SQ5 was $4000 for a full front end only a month ago. I went to another location and they did ceramic tint only two front windows and full front PPF, rocker panels and a frame around windshield and partial back bumper behind tires for $3500. They did a great job.
Thought you could add to the borders of the precut kits, on computer, before cutting out? And how bad do bugs stain the PPF? Like very acid love bugs in FL? What does ceramic coating on top of PPF accomplish? All questions to protect a new Corvette C8 Z06.
What do you guys suggest for a front end PPF with ceramic pro on top - which still has lots of bugs thanks to highway driving in the summer months. I was looking at XPEL Flawless Finish Paint Protection Film Cleaner followed by some XPEL Detail spray ? Any thoughts or recommendations ? I doubt Ill be washing my car after every highway trip so hoping for something which gets those pesky bugs off the car - i will probably not wait more than 1-2 days to clean them off but dont see myself doing it every time i get on the highways !
maybe I missed it in the video, how much does it cost to install the way you guys did, I have a 2023 chevy High country and want to know what I'm looking at to get this done ballpark range is fine I live in NY, and I know prices very?
I’m way late on this video but I am wondering if the 3M PPF affords a realistic UV protection. Namely for headlights. The modern plastic headlamp lenses fog so badly and wondering if PPF would help prevent that?
Can you talk about PPF removal? I did my Harley motorcycle batwing fairing. Under the fairing is a painted pinstripe. I’ve heard horror stories of having to repaint entire panels due to paint peeling off with PPF removal. Sadly I didn’t go to CAP, I went to someone who wasn’t familiar with my bike and at some point I would want to redo it. However I am scared to remove it because I was told I could damage my paint and pinstripe
If you decide to remove it do it on a hot day in the sun start by peeling edge up and when removing film stretch or pull towards you that way you don't leave glue behind and less likely to remove any paint. If your bike has been repainted and the ppf was laid down on a re spray then your paint may come up with the film if the re spray was done poorly
Tip of the day brother Jason: PPF’s self-healing loses its attribute entirely, a year or so from date of application (depending on external temperature)... 6-12 months from now, you will begin to notice it... Love and peace from Dubai ♥️
Yes this is why you must apply Ceramic coatings and take care of the film, so that scratches and etc. never even reach the top layer to damage since it has to eat through all the added top layers first.
I wanna get a film protection but also body kits installed. What goes first? I'm afraid if i stick 3m kits on top of the films, it might damage them? Any thoughts??
Interesting video on the process and what to look for. I live in the Minneapolis area and there are a handful of shops that do this. Any recommendations that you are familiar with here? Thanks
So after the wire brush test... do you just live with the one glaring scratch that won’t come out? Or did you put replace that PPF on the hood... come on, you can tell us. :)
It's honestly not necessary to have the holes in the film for the sensors. Myself and others I know have ours covered and it's not been an issue. I'd want those to be protected from rock chips too.
Just for clarification, so on top of the PPF we still have to apply a ceramic coating? Is the PPF not enough to protect the paint? Pls educate me. Thank you.
Could you provide a ballpark estimate of the cost for a BMW X6, full car? Do you have PPF with matte finish like Xpel Stealth? I'm split between Chicago Auto Pros and Protek Chicago. The latter offers Xpel and STEK.

I went to another location and they did ceramic tint only two front windows and full front PPF, rocker panels and a frame around windshield and partial back bumper behind tires for $3500. They did a great job.
Very informative. Thanks!
Question, may I know if PPF coating and ceramic coating could be applied together? If yes, which should be applied first?
PPF and then ceramic coating ontop
Thought you could add to the borders of the precut kits, on computer, before cutting out?
And how bad do bugs stain the PPF?
Like very acid love bugs in FL?
What does ceramic coating on top of PPF accomplish?
All questions to protect a new Corvette C8 Z06.
OK...Jason..no more car wash and no metal Brush~!!! The Boys went Extra on this one for sure!! ;-) Great Job!
Can or would be ok to just wrap the front part of my vehicle or wound it be easy to see
What do you guys suggest for a front end PPF with ceramic pro on top - which still has lots of bugs thanks to highway driving in the summer months.
Amazing! Great work!
Great job guys!! Car wrappers has the cleanest hands in the world. Does expel stealth film has the same self healing or the clear film is better?
The question I wanted to know, what how you keep your PPF looking good - products, techniques, pressure wash or not, etc
I have that same product on my car and man I love it!
Congrats! Great video!
maybe I missed it in the video, how much does it cost to install the way you guys did, I have a 2023 chevy High country and want to know what I'm looking at to get this done ballpark range is fine I live in NY, and I know prices very?
amazing work! if i may ask, what kind of soap and water to soap dilution do you use?
Great job.
What tips can you give to someone who loves this type of work and wants to learn more and delve deeper into it?
Tip of the day brother Jason:
PPF’s self-healing loses its attribute entirely, a year or so from date of application (depending on external temperature)... 6-12 months from now, you will begin to notice it...
Love and peace from Dubai ♥️
Yes this is why you must apply Ceramic coatings and take care of the film, so that scratches and etc. never even reach the top layer to damage since it has to eat through all the added top layers first.
Point well received from a Pro Installer, great topic for discussion. Age and exposure to UV & IR will effect self healing longevity.
Thanks
Link to the chest pack? That's exactly what I'm looking for to hold my install tools. Thanks!
what's your tack solution? distilled water?
and how many drops of seap in water for slip solution? thanks
When is using Gyeon PPF renew necessary? I have full XPEL on my car but there some swirls from washing on the film.
Congratulations this video looks awesome...
So after the wire brush test... do you just live with the one glaring scratch that won’t come out? Or did you put replace that PPF on the hood... come on, you can tell us. :)
I just left it there!
@@ChicagoAutoPros CAN IT BE POLISHED?
Was it paint corrected first? Is that necessary (paint correction) for a brand new vehicle.
Hi.....min 14.32 😂😂😂😂😂😂Bob Ross is in the house 😜😜😜👍🏻👌🏻
Is xpel still self healing when you coat it with a ceramic coating like xpel's ceramic?
Enjoyed this video and learned a lot. By any chance do you know of anyone in Vegas that would have the same workmanship as you?
Question two: why didn't you use the xpel film with the built in ceramic coating?
@10:54 we all do the math on PPF VS. occasional rock chip repair costs.🤑
6:48 why did you remove the sensor holes on the film?
It's honestly not necessary to have the holes in the film for the sensors. Myself and others I know have ours covered and it's not been an issue. I'd want those to be protected from rock chips too.
Song at 7:50 is "Detergent" by Dylan Sitts, if anyone is wondering
How do you care for ppl? Wash it, clay, seal? You mentioned ceramic coating? How long will ppl last? How difficult to remove?
GREAT I THINK I WILL GO FOR THIS , THANK YOU
Just for clarification, so on top of the PPF we still have to apply a ceramic coating? Is the PPF not enough to protect the paint? Pls educate me. Thank you.
Could you provide a ballpark estimate of the cost for a BMW X6, full car? Do you have PPF with matte finish like Xpel Stealth? I'm split between Chicago Auto Pros and Protek Chicago. The latter offers Xpel and STEK.
You really lucked out with a guy like Eman. Keepin it cool under the touchiest of work. Always looking for a way to be the best in town. Him and I are one in the same and we are 2 in a billion haha
How long do I have to wait after getting my car back from an accident before putting on new ppf. Thanks!
What do you suggest if I want to wrap my vehicle? Do u still put the ppf underneath?
